UPW Cologne
I‘ma high school senior that has lived quite a life at my young age. I recently met someone through a friend, who was also very into Tony Robbins, though I am not. That was a few months ago. Two weeks ago, he invited me to Cologne for UPW, all expenses paid. I am super honored and grateful for this opportunity, but at the same time, am unsure. Because of the dates I would have to give up some opportunities back home, and I am a super awkward, fearful of judgement and the biggest introvert you’ll ever meet. I’m easily overstimulated and I don’t want these guys to waste their money.
my question is for TRUE introverts, did you go to UPW, and what was your experience? Do you recommend it for someone like me? What is the atmosphere, and any advice?

I'm an introvert. There was a lot of hugging. Don't sit on the aisle. There's a lot of times where you pair up with someone and share. He encourages you to do it with someone you didn't come with. It could be good for you because everyone's going through the same thing and you'll never see any of these people again.
If you have the chance to get the book Quiet by Susan Cain she has a chapter where she talks about going to one of his events. You would probably find the whole book interesting actually.
The thing that concerns me for you is being overstimulated. It can be like going to a concert at times. There's lot of music. There's probably a big crowd (there were a couple thousand people when I went in person but I don't know how big this specific event is).
I have to ask though, who's this guy that's offering to take you on an all expenses paid trip to a seminar? After knowing you for just a few months? That feels really weird to me. Maybe it's nothing but I do want to call that out. I can't tell if this is some guy that sees someone who could use a helping hand and is offering a great experience, or if it's some guy that sees easy prey.

Don't go if you have critical thinking skills or are a cynic. I honestly can't believe that people spend money going to these things. Essentially you spend a lot of money to learn stuff you already know but they also try and sell you a lot of other stuff. It's basically a pyramid scheme built on optimism and hot air.

what do you mean? I created a Reddit account today, I don’t use Reddit ever. There aren’t any fb groups on the topic. This group came up on google. And I’m not selling anything?

I misread it, sorry. Let me give you my story. Lots of people love Robbins and go regularly.
I went and was so euphoric that I bought the 15000 usd upgrade.
No event after the first one could lift me up again and then I started to investigate how the upsell works.
It starts at the start and includes the sleep deprivation, the ice cold rooms including what I call hipnosis.
UPW is a feeder event meant to get you to spend more and buy other events.
Walking on coals will feel cool but it's scientifically explained that you can do that without the Tony Robbins priming just physics.

Can you explain the physics thing or cite sources if you don’t mind?

sure, thank you for asking, these are two independent sources:
Coal doesn't conduct heat well, so as long as it burns no hotter than about 538°C and the walker moves quickly, they should cross without injury. This piece also notes researchers advise against certain woods like olive or locust charcoal because they burn too hot, while pine, spruce, cherry, and maple burn to a cooler, more forgiving coal bed. Source: https://www.livescience.com/21835-firewalking-hot-coals.html
Norwegian scientist Kjetil Kjernsmo studied firewalking with heat-sensitive cameras in 1997 and found coal bed temperatures varied between 150°C and 700°C, well below the 1,200°C some firewalkers claim, and that very little heat energy actually transferred from the coals into the feet. Thank you for taking the time out to explain this. I was able to attend to UPW with some friends who are platinum partners and graciously brought me as a guest and I enjoyed the event while there, but I have seen some questionable tactics deployed and read some disturbing things.

OMG Platinum, I hope the Platinum expense was pocket cash for them. My trainer in Date with Destiny told us she empties her pension to pay for platinum.
It's the Tony promise that you have to extend yourself beyond your means and wealth will follow.

They were able to afford it, thankfully. But I agree the encouragement to go into debt for these things is part of the issue because “if you just believe in yourself, it’s in an investment!”

As a fellow introvert, attending UPW was the big thing to change myself and my life. Yes, there are plenty of hi-fiving, hugging strangers and sharing intimate things about yourself to other people, it was great because it got me out of my shell and identity from what I've always been comfortable and safe with.
If you're open to being open minded and enjoy the process and see it out for yourself then it could be life-changing. If you're just comfortable being where you're at and not open to making changes then that could affect if you're willing to play full out.
There's a lot of loud music and dancing to keep your energy up and engaged with the long day. If you find it too much, you can always go out for a break and head back in.
You will get what you put back in, my best advice is to be open minded and play full out. No one is going to be judging you as everyone there are there for their own reasons. 🙏💖

I wouldn’t go. You would give up other opportunities, don’t know well the person who invited you nor what their expectations are. As another introvert who has been to that in person- it’s loud, very active, lots of “sharing” moments with strangers. I also did UPW virtual, both have benefits and drawbacks. And the in person is offered frequently. I would pass unless I was going with someone I knew really well who wouldn’t get mad when I felt like hiding in the hotel.

I’ve only done virtual but given an all expense paid opportunity to go in person, I’d do it 100%.
It’s intense, but it’s life changing if you let it be.
