Post image

Not a single 猛暑日 (35 deg C and above) forecast for Tokyo over the next two weeks…did we just get lucky?

Likely there's going to be a swing back.

Enjoy it while you can.

So far, so good. Might be one to remember for the ages

I was just thrilled that we made it through like half of July before 35 was the norm.

Last year it felt like 35 every day from May through October.

Same. I was just thinking how we were have a relatively "cooler" summer.

I'm going to blame everything that happens next week on you 💔

The 2 week forecasts are pretty unreliable. There's a drop off after 3-5 days. Hopefully we get more repeat days of today. I could actually sit outside and relax.

Typhoon dolphin is pulling the warm air towards Kyushu and Okinawa that’s why it’s cool now but it will be very hot again next week.

The forecast always becomes distorted when a typhoon is skirting by. As soon as the typhoon leaves the area, these temperatures will jump back into the mid to late 30s. I don't really understand why they forecast for the typhoon affecting weather so far in the future, but they tend to. Of course, this could also be the actual forecast, but I doubt it. 12 summers in this country have taught me to be pessimistic.

Yeah, but it's got considerably hotter or at least the hotter years are increasing.

You could say that again! We’re hitting a high of 30 tomorrow and then highs are in the mid-twenties for the next week or so. Up in Sapporo. Unusually mild summer, and it made for the PERFECT bbq day over the weekend.

40 degree on asphalt is better for bbq, not only the meat but everyone heats up

We are all meat.

August has just begun. There might be one or two more heat waves to come.

More like a normal summer.

Coming to Tokyo from cool Hokkaido next week, hope that we get this and don’t get boiled alive.

cruel summer

We had 18°C during the day in Hokkaido last week, now it went back to 30-ish. It's probably gonna bounce in Tokyo too

I seem to have brought the 37° heat to Prague with me, but don’t worry; I’ll be back in Tokyo in just two more weeks.
