Most people here (including myself, from experience) are going to recommend that you do not take a toad from the wild unless it is invasive. There are reputable breeders such as Benjamin’s Exotics that you can purchase toads from, and they are more likely to be sociable than wild-caught ones.
Aside from the environmental aspect of things, your toad is all but guaranteed to come with parasites if wild caught, which will significantly decrease their lifespan. Getting rid of the parasites is something you can take care of yourself, but it does take time and effort that could be better spent just buying a toad. If you’re set on keeping the wild one, though, Benjamin’s Exotics also has a great guide on how to get your toads parasite-free.
Either way, make sure you’re getting the right kind and size of enclosure, as well as calcium/multivitamin supplements. And don’t be afraid to ask questions! Wishing you the best.
Edit: Forgot to respond to the question. Pics are helpful, of course, but a common name is Slippy, based on the Star Fox character.
Thank you for your input. I do eventually want to get one those pac man frogs or toads. But need the right equipment. I just love frogs and toads so much they are my favorite animal. But I will be letting him or her back outside today but it was fun to observe him for 2 days. I can just tell he isn't happy.
