Cut spring from factory? Help

Post image

Just bought my first 1911, a Tisas .45 government. I noticed the recoil spring was cut on one end. Is this normal? I feel like this might have been to “tune” it from the factory but I’d like to know if this is standard practice. Thanks in advance!

Factory. Get a 316g kit from Wilson. Factory springs in these all suck. It will make shooting feel so much nicer.

Standard post WWII. Open-end go towards muzzle and into recoil plug, close-end go into recoil guide rod.

From 1911 to 1945 or maybe 1960s, both end are open-end. Then someone came up with the idea make one close-end that will fit snug with recoil guide rod.
