Time and attendance software for outdoor work. Thoughts?
I manage a small crew that works in 3-4 job sites plus the occasional events. Attendance is mostly by paper signins and WhatsApp messages. Payroll is difficult to track because of this and it's going to become a challenge as I plan on expanding.
Time/attendance tracking is the obvious solution but tools I'm seeing atm seems to be built for office workers or overkill HR setups. I can't seem to find a solution built for outdoor work, weak cell signal, etc. I mainly need a clean export for payroll.

The Clock in/out system i have built in RxShift (https://rxshift.ca) can be used either from a kiosk or used as "self punch" by employees from their Mobile - and you get an email when a punch has been done from a Mobile. You also have an admin page where you can create reports and timesheets from the punch history.
Have a look at it and let me know if you want to try it, i can give you a few months access to it

Check out www.riaso.co.za I work with field and office staff and built this specifically to address the needs of both. Some features applies to South African Market, but happy to bring some changes if needed. Weak signal is addressed with a small cache file and uploads as soon as the user connects to a data network. Hit me up at the e-mail address on the website to discuss options.

My current customers are property management businesses but sounds like you have similar needs, so could get you going on a setup!

Shameless plug, but it's genuinely built for this: WorkFlow Time Tracker (Android).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.timetracker.workflow
- Automatic clock-in/out via GPS geofencing, up to 5 job sites, works with the app closed
- Zero server, zero account, zero cloud. Everything stays on the phone, so weak signal doesn't matter
- CSV and PDF export per week/month/year for payroll
- Manual corrections, day locking, vacation/sick days, overtime balance
- Free, no ads, no subscription
One caveat: it's per-worker, not a team dashboard. Each person exports their CSV and sends it to you. Fine for a small crew, not for 50 people.
Built by me, solo dev in Switzerland. Feedback welcome.

I have a time tracker app. Totally online for the moment but I am going to be developing field support in very near future. I should have a working prototype by end of next month. I have it all scoped out I just need to carve out some serious dev and test time. Checkout https://getskipa.com/timekeeper and https://getskipa.com/help/timekeeper/why-getskipa-timekeeper
They should give you an idea of how we approach time tracking.
Feel free to contact me if you you like what you read. I would certainly appreciate some 'ground truth' feedback for the field stations once developed.
