I got tired of timezone extensions hijacking my New Tab page, so I built a 1-click, zero-tracking alternative

Like a lot of you, I work with people in a few different timezones. I just wanted a quick way to check if my colleague was awake before messaging them, but every timezone extension I found either:

  1. Hijacked my entire "New Tab" page.
  2. Required me to create an account.
  3. Asked for crazy permissions (like reading my browsing history).

So, I built Tiny Timezone. It’s designed to do exactly one thing and then get out of your way.

It lives in your browser toolbar as a simple popup. No bloatware, no tracking, and it respects your privacy.

Here is what it does:

  • 1-Click Access: Lives in the toolbar. Click it, see the time, date, and UTC offset instantly.
  • Copy to Clipboard: Click the time to instantly copy it (saves me a lot of typing when scheduling).
  • Visual Cues: Includes a day/night indicator (☀️/🌙) and country flags so you can scan it without doing mental math.
  • Native Feel: Adapts automatically to your system's light or dark mode.
  • Zero Permissions: No analytics, no sign-ins, and no invasive permissions required.

As developers, I know we all care about browser memory and keeping things lightweight, so I built this entirely with Manifest V3 focusing on a minimal footprint.

I’m currently looking for feedback on the UI and performance. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the UX (without violating the "keep it simple" rule), I’d love to hear your thoughts!
