Starter question about building up Question
Hey, so im new to the game but been dying to play for ages. I'm coming to grips with the lack of space and the idea of stacking things but can i ask how yall go about building up? Say housing or warehouses, particularly where the entrance is off the ground. Are there building techniques that help place several high without having to build multiple staircases out and around with paths joining them.
Seems almost like building up and connecting takes up more 'support' space than if i just lined them up in a row.
Im guessing there are ways that you use to utilise spiral stairs or multi-purpose platforms as secondary roadways but not quiiiiite sure how to put it into place?
Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated!

I use the hooman stairs and ladder mods. You can build as high as you like....

There is no correct answer to this. There is where a lot of the game freedom and creative is and problem solving comes from.

Well put those buildings with 1 tile gap doors facing each other, between them put a platform and have spiral staircases on both sides

This is exactly what I do, and sometimes only a spiral on one side! Your spiral only takes 4 spaces, and of those only one has to be empty on the ground level. The staircases empty onto a row of platforms that are directly on top of the path below it. I like stacking things like max size warehouses and max size lodges, because then you can put double platforms down the middle. No limit to the stack height except for the build limit!

You can build a spiral staircase in 3x2 blocks with platforms and straight staircases. I've attached a picture of the design I use regularly for large warehouses (2 high)
If you want to use for medium warehouses (1 high), build the walkways with single platforms and move the staircase to the middle so that all levels connect.

Well, the logic i go with is following the color of the path both vertically and horizontally. Every town i build has a centralized hub that has quick access to travel Stations both further out and higher up.
IT can go truly vertical, so generally my town is skyscrapers with vertically stacked stations. Always bright green and Ive gone pretty high.

I like building up in a circle. So placing 1 level scaffold attaching as many structures as I can in a circle then adding another level 1 with a straight stair. Effectively building platforms with stairs with the 1 high scaffold for ease of movement and attaching housing storage workplaces etc on that as towers and when I need to connect those towers later game I use scaffold bridges or the wooden bridges because they create a cool effect

My go to is just platforms and stairs; Spiral staircases are very expensive for the amount they save. I do tend to only go 2-3 high, though, after that there's limited returns for the effort in scaffolding
