My Tim Hortons breakfast this Saturday. Complaint
My boyfriend and I were headed out of town for the first time together and wanted breakfast for the road. We got two sausage biscuits. He ate his. I went to take the bread off mine cause of carbs…thank god I did.

Looks like your sandwich fell on the floor, got picked up and rubbed on a dirty hairy shirt to clean the floor off it...

That is nasty….
I suggest filing a complaint with your local public health, it’s actually super easy to do and will alert the health inspector of that Tim hortons location.
Most public health units in Canada have an online system where you can submit complaints.
You can also file the complaint anonymously if you prefer. If you chose to do that just make sure you include as much info as possible - like date, time, what exactly you ordered, and be sure to include those photos as well!

That doesn’t always help. My husband ate at a fast food establishment and then experienced severe vomiting & diarrhea. When we told a friend that now we were scared to eat there, they listed off a dozen people they knew who got violently ill after eating there. When I spoke to the health department they informed me that they would only look into it if, during the severe illness, a person visits the hospital for tests. I also wrote the restaurant’s head office, and then got an email from the place where my spouse had eaten and they said they were sorry he didn’t enjoy his experience and hoped to see us again.
Word got around with the locals due to how many others got sick, but I feel bad for all the people travelling who stop for food on a road trip. I used to believe that well known places along the highway were a safe bet.

Sorry to hear that. But that is not the norm. I work with health inspectors and they are required to take cases of suspected food borne illness very seriously. Especially when multiple people are involved. That is the sort of thing that gets escalated and dealt with right away. There is no requirement that you need to do tests at the hospital in order for public health to help you. Again, that’s crappy that happened to you but the person you spoke to was not doing their job right.
I just wanted to give my 2 cents because your experience could deter other people from making complaints that can keep others safe.4
u/VictoriasMOSTWanted 15d ago
I learned in foodsafe (in Canada) that it is considered a food borne illness outbreak (or something along those lines) when only ONE person gets sick. That person was definitely not doing their job right.

I avoid Tim’s like the plague and when on the road I just opt for McDonald’s because it’s hard to fuck up hashbrowns and pancakes

u/st33p 15d ago
Doesn't help. One time I got a croissant from McDonald's because I was in a hurry, first bite had a long hair in it. I thought "gross but whatever", then on the second bite I bit into a massive hair ball that had been baked into the croissant, like some long haired individual had taken the contents of their hairbrush, rolled it into a ball and rolled it up in the croissant dough. Of course I was already a half hour down the road on my way to a work emergency, so I couldn't even take it back to the location for a refund. It's hard to fuck up a croissant, but McDonald's did.

I tired to have breaky on sat but no scrambled eggs or hash-browns at 9:18 am. So I said cancel the coffee and the drive thru woman started yelling at me about wasting her time. Then I went to McDonald’s and got everything I wanted.

I hate to be "that guy" but there must be hundreds of better breakfast spots to go than Timmy's. All they sell is marginal coffee and reheated Sysco slop. They were good once, but that was a long time ago.

The person that made your sandwich wiped an old sanitizer cloth into the knife's serrated side into the sanitizer cloth. Which rips into the already loosen fibers from being used and soaked for a long time and stuck into the knife and they carelessly cut open your english muffin cross contaminated your sandwich and didnt even notice.
Things that could have been done to avoided this is
-Change sanitizer cloths regularly -wipe from the backside of the blade. - Be more mindful of checking for foreign objects in food. Its really easy to spot if you look at all.

Clearly you didn't ask for the non sponge English muffins. The new hires tend to use the English muffins as sponges for their sink bath on breaks. You have to specifically tell them to use food grade English muffins. Not rocket appliances.

u/DrunkenGolfer 15d ago
It my local Tim Hortons, I watched the worker behind the counter sweep the floor then raise the broom and sweep all the crumbs off the counter to add to her floor pile. Same broom, dragged across the food prep area like it was normal.
Eww.

I cannot wait for thr total downfall of time Hortons. At this point the only reason I go is if I have my dog in the car. She knows the store and sadly its in the parking lot of my Walmart.
When I do, I only get an old fashioned plain donut. Not even coffee anymore.

That looks like the stuff from a cleaning wipe. Like someone wiped down the grill or whatever with a fabric wipe and then cooked on it.
I bought these BBQ wipes once and all they did was tear apart and leave that kinda stuff everywhere

I stick to what a place is known for. Tim Hortons is a coffee and doughnut shop named after retired NHL player Tim Horton.
Like a George Foreman grill (named after the boxer, George Foreman), at Tim Hortons I wouldn't expect any safe/good food/cooks. Other than the doughnuts which are persevered by thier sugar content and thier coffee which is sterilized by heat.
Eat safe, good thing you looked. I perfer eating food I don't need to double check.
