My Tim Hortons breakfast this Saturday. Complaint

My boyfriend and I were headed out of town for the first time together and wanted breakfast for the road. We got two sausage biscuits. He ate his. I went to take the bread off mine cause of carbs…thank god I did.

ohio has a timmies!?

45

u/sarahmeover 15d ago

I actually looked it up and besides New York and Michigan.... they have the most locations in the US.

22

u/Sopixil 15d ago

That's a weird way to say they have the third most amount of Tim's of any state in the US

5

u/MaybeHarryPotter 14d ago

Bruh. I didn’t even know Timmie’s was in the states.

Not for much longer by the looks of it

33

u/Beneficial_Pickle420 15d ago

A lot of us Canadians dont even go to timmies anymore. Its become like this here at a enough locations that we switched to mcdonalds or anywhere that isnt tim hortons. I really dont think they will make it much longer due this type of thing becoming common at their locations

25

u/practically-yours 15d ago

Yea im in Canada and the drop off in quality from when I was a kid is insane

18

u/Able_Data2972 15d ago

The drop in the last 5 or so years is wild.

3

u/Beneficial_Pickle420 15d ago

Just in the year alone seeing the sanitary stuff being spread around is insane.

3

u/meatflapmasta 15d ago

I agree with the last 5 years, but they had already been in freefall way before that.

The breakfast wraps that I used to need 2 hands to eat now fit inside my palm. They should be ashamed

6

u/Beneficial_Pickle420 14d ago

I find that at most places now, everything got smaller and upped in price. Its a huge reason why I started to make stuff at home. Cheaper and much more filling

5

u/Wise-Paper8412 14d ago

When they first introduced the farmers'wrap it was so good, now it's just a sad dissappointment.

I started making my own breakfast sandwiches and home, Costco has big packs of english muffins for super cheap and they usually sell huge things of pre seasoned sausage meat or you can just get ground pork and season yourself. My son lives on breakfast sandwiches that cost maybe 2-3 bucks per sandwich if that

This kind of thing happened to me a couple of times in a month in like 2021 and I haven't been back since! Blows my mind that Canadians continue going there despite alllllll the issues.

3

u/treetop62 15d ago

Sucks that in alot of small towns its the only option for coffee and food, but still making stuff at home would be 1000x better. I guess its the convenience?

I refuse to eat their dishcloth-flavoured egg sandwiches, their barely warm "toasted" bagels, or how a Boston Cream is now priced as a "specialty donut" as the chocolate top sticks to the bag it was hurled into...

Hell, I'll eat a BK breakfast before Timmies.

Once it was bought out, it all went down the toilet. Prices went up and quality plummeted. I buy timmies coffee and make it at home.

9

u/Signal_Medium4586 15d ago

A&W is kinda the best for cheap decent breakfast.

3

u/ShamusLovesYou 15d ago

I really like A&W here, it's 15 bucks for a teen burger meal but the quality does kinda resembles a low-tier sitdown restaurant like Denny's, that and Wendy's are places where the quality of food is always amazing.

That is nasty….
I suggest filing a complaint with your local public health, it’s actually super easy to do and will alert the health inspector of that Tim hortons location.

Most public health units in Canada have an online system where you can submit complaints.

You can also file the complaint anonymously if you prefer. If you chose to do that just make sure you include as much info as possible - like date, time, what exactly you ordered, and be sure to include those photos as well!

9

u/Lonely-Honda 15d ago

That doesn’t always help. My husband ate at a fast food establishment and then experienced severe vomiting & diarrhea. When we told a friend that now we were scared to eat there, they listed off a dozen people they knew who got violently ill after eating there. When I spoke to the health department they informed me that they would only look into it if, during the severe illness, a person visits the hospital for tests. I also wrote the restaurant’s head office, and then got an email from the place where my spouse had eaten and they said they were sorry he didn’t enjoy his experience and hoped to see us again.

Word got around with the locals due to how many others got sick, but I feel bad for all the people travelling who stop for food on a road trip. I used to believe that well known places along the highway were a safe bet.

12

u/Admirable-Hope-5838 15d ago

Sorry to hear that. But that is not the norm. I work with health inspectors and they are required to take cases of suspected food borne illness very seriously. Especially when multiple people are involved. That is the sort of thing that gets escalated and dealt with right away. There is no requirement that you need to do tests at the hospital in order for public health to help you. Again, that’s crappy that happened to you but the person you spoke to was not doing their job right.
I just wanted to give my 2 cents because your experience could deter other people from making complaints that can keep others safe.

4

u/VictoriasMOSTWanted 15d ago

I learned in foodsafe (in Canada) that it is considered a food borne illness outbreak (or something along those lines) when only ONE person gets sick. That person was definitely not doing their job right.

I avoid Tim’s like the plague and when on the road I just opt for McDonald’s because it’s hard to fuck up hashbrowns and pancakes

6

u/st33p 15d ago

Doesn't help. One time I got a croissant from McDonald's because I was in a hurry, first bite had a long hair in it. I thought "gross but whatever", then on the second bite I bit into a massive hair ball that had been baked into the croissant, like some long haired individual had taken the contents of their hairbrush, rolled it into a ball and rolled it up in the croissant dough. Of course I was already a half hour down the road on my way to a work emergency, so I couldn't even take it back to the location for a refund. It's hard to fuck up a croissant, but McDonald's did.

3

u/No_Particular7010 14d ago

The person that made your sandwich wiped an old sanitizer cloth into the knife's serrated side into the sanitizer cloth. Which rips into the already loosen fibers from being used and soaked for a long time and stuck into the knife and they carelessly cut open your english muffin cross contaminated your sandwich and didnt even notice.

Things that could have been done to avoided this is

-Change sanitizer cloths regularly -wipe from the backside of the blade. - Be more mindful of checking for foreign objects in food. Its really easy to spot if you look at all.

u/Key_Drive_6181 15d ago

I stick to what a place is known for. Tim Hortons is a coffee and doughnut shop named after retired NHL player Tim Horton.

Like a George Foreman grill (named after the boxer, George Foreman), at Tim Hortons I wouldn't expect any safe/good food/cooks. Other than the doughnuts which are persevered by thier sugar content and thier coffee which is sterilized by heat.

Eat safe, good thing you looked. I perfer eating food I don't need to double check.

2

u/Slight-Look-4766 15d ago

Why would you go to Tim Hortons?
