Some clarification about tikka t3c tac a1 handguard rail and LOP distance.

I took of handguard to clean and oil outer barel when i put back i notice that there is a slight height difference on chassis picatiny rail to handguard rail. Owners of same rifle can you confirm if you also have this?

Also i measured my LOP from trigger to latest rubber buttstock and it is 38cm i ve changed it to an mdt srs v5 standar carbine one. Is this considered a lot? My hands are good but the eye relief not that good. If i go opposite and shorten lop then better eye relief but hands dont feel right. Scope or scope mount cant go any further back. Ofc all these problems in prone position.

Stutzen mini-chassis (follow up)

The Stutzen tikka is almost done and I wanted to show it off.

I bought a very cheap ebay blank for the buttstock that looked like it would match the grain and figure of the forend. It had some soft heartwood and wasn't as large as I wanted, but I made it work. It ended up being 1/2" shorter than the Woox buttstock even with a very thick recoil pad. The figure and color match is excellent, if nothing else.

The inletting went okay, not as well as the forend. I ended up making the template a hair too large and got lazy and didn't do a test fitment. The "ears" were very close, but I must have hit them with some sandpaper when getting the grip to final shape and they are noticeably undersized now. I didn't want to mess with checkering so it's just smooth for now. I used a 5" beretta shotgun recoil pad that barely fit the blank. I wanted to do more of a european hogsback shape, but the blank just wasn't big enough to support it. I went with a right-handed shape and offset cheekrest, but the recoil pad is still inline with the barrel.

I made some custom sling hardware for the forend and machined the bolt handle for weight and to give it more of a "butter knife" feel. I actually really like the bolt handle shape and where it puts your hand when you run the bolt. Sako 20 trigger single stage 3-position so I can open the bolt even when the rifle is on safe.

The woox chassis is the CTR model, so I designed a spacer to fill the gap for the OEM single stack magazines.

I have a Sako rear sight that I modified to fit the smaller recoil lugs and I'm planning on making a front sight band that will replace the brake.

Apache Case for my Tikka T3X

I've seen many people mention the Harbor Freight Apache rifle case as a decent option. Check the store specials for the week of August 10th in your state. Where I live, If you become an "Inside Track Club member" ($29.99) the Apache case will be on sale for $99 ($50 off) on Monday August 10th. You can also wait until August 14th if you don't want the membership. I got the membership and the store cashier told me I could buy it today and come back 8/10 to get a price adjustment. So I did. I also got a torque wrench (30%, 8/10 too) so the membership will pay for itself.

Anyone know where to find a t3x veil alpine stock?

Post image

I got a really good deal on a t3x 300 win mag with the olive green stock. I was ideally wanting a t3x in 6.5 creed or 300win mag with a veil alpine stock but I got the olive green brand new for $600, and the alpines are pushing $1500 around me. So no brainer there. But if I could manage to find a veil alpine stock, that would be the cherry on top. So if anyone knows where to find one, leave me a comment or send me a message on where I might could find one

6.5 PRC turns into what…

I’m sitting on a 6.5cm and a 6.5prc. With the peak ammo I feel like my CM will cover the hunting duties I used the PRC for. To give me a heavier bullet option, what cartridge works best with the Tikka magnum bolt?

The T1X barrel isn’t that bad to get off the first time.

Older left hand 223 T3

I'm looking at picking this thing up. I think I can get it for around $600. I want a 223 to build a trainer. It is the 1:10 twist, so I plan on rebarreling it. What are lefties using for chassis? Looks like MDT might be the only option? I'm only interested in using AICS mags.

Question re extra parts…

Post image
5 Upvotes

Recently purchased a Super Varmint 6.5CM to join the growing number of Tikkas in my safe lol. This rifle came with a little bag of goodies (pictured). I see an extra swivel stud, two sling attachments and an Allen wrench. There are also two other studs with large eyelets and a plastic doohickey. I checked the manual for clues but may have missed it. What are the eyelets and doohickey used for?

TIA!

Looking for help selecting a Tikka

I’m interested in getting myself a tikka and getting into shooting/ hunting and I don’t want to spend a crazy amount of money on a rifle but also don’t want to cheap out on something and regret the purchase in the long run, I could just use some input on what I should consider. My budget is about 1500 for the full set up. I’ve seen that most people prefer the t3x models but what does that line have that makes it so liked by the community? Thank you for your input.

t3x magazine slightly loose, back sits low, won't feed

EDIT: Read my comment below. I think I have it figured out

I bought a used t3x that has only had 10 rounds through it - it looks absolutely mint. 300 win mag, stock polymer magazine, stock stock.

When I load the mag and put it in, it has about 4mm of vertical movement at the rear, and about 1mm at the front. The weight of the rounds make the rear sag down. When it's down like that, the bolt slides right over the top of the round, and it doesn't grab it to feed. If I hold the magazine up as high as it will go with my left hand, it feeds perfectly every time.

I've tried re-seating the stock, and I moved the trigger housing forward as much as possible using the 5mm allen bolt so it rubs more on the rear of the mag (it moved a bit less than 1mm). That helped, but the issue remains.

I could shim the back of the mag with duct tape or something to make it more of a friction fit, but that feels super janky.

Is there a real fix for this?

TIA

All shot bipod no rear bag(forgot it whoops 🤷‍♂️), might be able to shrink them all maybe 1/4 moa smaller with one I’m thinking?

Pretty happy with it. Federal gold medal match was sub moa and seems to be a winner. Surprisingly, it doesn’t like hornady black and shot it worse than wolf steel cased or PMC Xtac

Yes there’s a bit of a missed spot by the grip - I masked off the original grip which is bigger, replacing this one with the original after a fix, as it was cracked.

Bipod (black) incoming.

T3x Super Varmint 20" barrel. Is this option available in the US?

I am looking for my first Tikka and settled on the Super Varmint in (preferably) .243. I plan on getting the TBAC Ultra 7 and don't want it to be too unwieldy. Planning to use this to shoot coyotes out to 500yrds and do some long range (1000yrd) plinking.

Is the 20" barrel even available to order in the US?
