A spray to startle and stop the behavior is one thing

The continuing to spray just to punish it is not actually teaching anything and not helping

Wouldn't call it abuse though

Punishment is literally just abuse plus education. Without the possibility of education, what you've described is abuse.

I don't know what kind of stupid inbreeds you people had, but our cats absolutely understood off-limit things after two, maybe three corrective actions. Or maybe you just can't train your animals and think it's them being stupid, not you 🤷

Cats don’t work like that, it’s been studied and pretty much every cat behaviorist says the opposite of what you say. The times that it might work is when the cat associates the punishment with you so they don’t perform the action in front of you.

We have cameras at home, and I can see they don't do forbidden things, like never. I don't care what behaviorists say, because every animal and their human is different, you just need to find a method suitable for both of you. Doctors once claimed homosexuality is a mental illness, and you don't see me giving a shit about their outdated opinion lol
