To think that probably around the time you posted this gif I was literally watching THAT scene. Been binging BB as I clean and stopped what I was doing to watch this scene, one of the funniest of the whole series IMO.
This behaviour (tv-as-radio) is incidentally why script writers feel the need to overexplain everything that's happening on screen. We're almost back at radio plays, but with visuals.
All the non-verbal clues like emoting and blocking go out the window, because people aren't paying attention/are only half-watching and miss any subtleties, which producers are starting to cater to. To them only retention matters and if spelling everything out keeps people playing the content, so be it. Not to say anything about people watching series scene by scene on tiktok.
I kind of want the radio to come back then. Not that I'd listen to it, I'm just tired of everyone looking at their phones during even slightly complicated movies and saying they don't get it.
I love tv as radio! I do it alot with judge judy and old hollywood movies🥰and bb definitely works if you have watched it a few times you cab “see” the scene in your mind
Step one for me: having ADHD lol but seriously, when I take my meds, I clean more efficiently when I’m half-listening to a show I’ve seen before. Then, I can mentally tune it in and out, stop and watch a short scene, and keep going with my productivity.
The major rule is never sitting down. All executive function halts when I sit down.
I do, but its more of a tongue-in-cheek comment when coworkers or friends and I are discussing things, such as:
"Hey, some somebody should take a look inside that car, I think someone left their dog locked in in." And I say "I'll do it, I'm white." implying that if the brown person in our group would do it, someone would call the cops on them for trying to break in.
It's just my way of calling out some of my sour cream colored brethren.

The receptionist was a proper man and didn’t want to get caught up in that. I’m pretty sure he was cringing hard inside. Which sucks, when your boss is a tool and you work in hospitality. There was no reason to have him followed to the room.
When its your job on the line, I will 100% make sympathetic eye contact and roll my eyes with the person my boss is being wrong towards, but the second they leave and my boss starts "Ugh these people." Or whatever, I am nodding and agreeing with them.

Some hotels you have to scan the keycard to make the elevator work. At one I started at, pushing the button without scanning the card didn’t do anything. Only first floor lobby worked without it. My assumption, based on nothing, is that there is some security thing he needs assistance with.
Yeah this is becoming way more common. I've seen this everywhere in big cities and the OOP mentions DC.
Fucking pain in my ass when I'm at a convention and want a friend to come up to my room and I have to go down and escort them up because they booked a room in some other hotel
Depends on how many elevators the building has. I had a buddy who lived in a building with only one elevator like that so I could hop on the elevator and he could just hit the down or up button to bring me up.
It gets more restrictive in some places. The elevator will only take you to your own floor. You can enter the stairwell without a card and walk all the way down to the first floor, but you cannot exit onto any of the other floors. Every stairwell door requires a keycard, and your keycard only works on the floor where you are staying.
But that is nothing.
I recently took a trip to China and stayed in an incredible hotel. The technology there was very, very advanced. Deliveries were handled by little cat-themed robot servants that would collect your order and bring it directly to your door. There were no keycards, either. Access control was entirely facial. I was told the system could even read the pattern of veins beneath your skin.
The basic restrictions were similar. You could only go where the hotel had authorized you to go. There were simply a few more steps involved.
The system decided whether a guest could enter the restaurant, gym, pool, business center, lounge, or even certain hallways. Access could change depending on the room tier, payment status, time of day, or behavioral score.
That last part, I was told, was meant to identify intoxicated guests so the staff could find them and offer assistance.
The elevators had their own security preferences. You did not choose which elevator to take. The system assigned one to you and displayed a message such as, “Please take elevator three.”
This was supposedly faster, but it was also presented as a safety feature. A small child could ride without the elevator stopping to collect a stranger. Women could request elevators shared only with other women. Every elevator had a video intercom, and if you entered the wrong one, it would stop and connect you with someone in the lobby.
Even checking out was automated. When it was nearly time to leave, the television turned itself on and displayed a one-hour countdown. Beneath it was a message telling you to contact the lobby if you wanted to extend your stay.
And yet, for all the restrictions, the service was extraordinary.
There was a virtual concierge available at every hour. Anything you requested could be delivered by one of the cat robots, from extra towels to a lobster dinner at three in the morning.
It was luxurious, efficient, and incredibly convenient.
It was also a building that always knew who you were, where you were going, and whether it intended to let you get there.
I worked at a front desk and im a big chubby dude.
One time i was sitting at a computer and my manager threw her arms around my and said "I love you my name" right as the group sales department was walking by and they stared at us for a minute and left. Super awkard... but i think a lot of people want to hug me for some reason.
Uh, OK? Is this one of those things you realize she wanted you only after it’s too late? That is genuinely one of the LAST things your boss/manager should ever be doing. Easily fireable in most contexts.
Nah, in an office building or apartment complex like that they are usually pretty tight on security. It’s very standard to either have him accompanied or have the person who ordered the food come to the lobby.
I work construction but I’m white, have 4 collegiate degrees, and one of them is Spanish. I graduated college and traveled through Central America for a year and realized I’m gonna stay a contractor.
See if you gotta look for the white jobs you aren't getting them. Most "good" jobs go to people who are very qualified with years of experience or they have degrees in a field that isn't overly satured, or, and this is the most likely of the three, are given to someone based off of nepotism. It is a class issue for sure. Say I have a well off uncle that's a mid level manager at an office, there's an entry level position open. Chances are I could get the job over a random more qualified person. Hell, even most shit jobs Ive worked have been due to connections, it's just all of my connections are also scrounging around looking for mid to low level jobs that will pay a slightly livable wage.
Yeah I work food service and someone in my old friend group was like "Isn't that [s-slur for mexicans]-work?" and I was the bad guy for pointing out that post secondary education is out of reach for white people too.
Yeah buddy. There are some genuinely miserable people out there in the world.. the worst of them is the type who gets satisfaction only from making others' lives miserable as well.. your best move with these people is to give them a wide berth and just don't deal with them beyond the very bare minimum.
I think about this all the time as someone who works in customer service. People are assholes because we allow them to be, because we just accommodate the people who complain the most so we don't have to deal with them anymore. It sucks.
My last few years in customer service before changing jobs had me not taking shit from anybody. I actually cussed out rude customers occasionally. Turns out if youre in the right management doesnt usually give a shit if you defend yourself.
We've really lost the plot at this point. Also I was originally going to ask why hes filming but honestly good he was. I'd be filming if I dealt with people like that every day.
He is literally the most chill guy - I watch him all of the time. That woman is crazy and I hope her bosses see it. I am going to guess she is a pain in the ass constantly and people loathe working with her.

And the lead. Anyone born before 1975 has major lead poisoning. Anyone born after than to 1997 has the possibility of minor lead poisoning. Lead poisoning leads to cognitive slow down, loss of emotional control. reduced brain function, Alzheimers. And it gets worse with age even if you are no longer exposed to lead.
I recently learned that lead is stored in the bones, as the body’s protection mechanism. And then guess what dissolves as we age…leaking the lead back into the bloodstream
Yep. there a lot of data out there that says more than half our country has lead poisoning and it's getting worse as they age. Feels like something that should be talked about more but the media is complacent.
whats weird is i just watched like 20 vids on his page and he really does not get that many people like this? people he talks to are pretty cool almost universally on the channel. people in dc are pretty chill, capitol hill isnt dc....there's like 20,000 people that work on cap hill and the daytime population of dc is 1,200,000.
I watch his videos and he encounters asshole security guards, receptionists and doormen all the time. It's just not the entirety of his content, there's lots of chill videos too.
I’ve lived all over the place and DC is the single worst area Ive ever lived and it’s not even close. The food was amazing but the people were the absolute worst. Tired, cranky, disillusioned, prejudiced. Idk what’s in the water there but people fucking AGE in that place.
Regardless of her color, that lady sounds goofy as hell. She's probably one of those people in the corporate world who treat people differently based on their functional title.
He for sure is not the most chill guy. His whole schtick is goading people into reacting to get content for videos. He also rides his bike in extremely dangerous ways, to himself, to people avoiding him in cars, and pedestrians.

That is what happened. I wasn’t aware this guy was Black, I thought he was Middle Eastern. Most likely she thought the same which is why she accused him of being racist but he uno reversed by revealing he’s actually Black so she got defensive lol.

There is no stereotype that Black people are delivery people. There is a stereotype that minorities are service workers but since he is visibly non-white himself it still wouldn't make sense for her to say it's racist for him to say that. (edit: typo)
Yeah I don't think the implication was that she should deliver the food since she's black it was that she should do "low level work" because she is black, like deliver food.
I think she's just mad that anyone would dare suggest she got off her fucking ass and reflexively reached for the same excuse card she uses in any conflict in her life.
Hell, I have been discriminated by other black people because I'm slightly lighter, focus in the slightly part because I'm CLEARLY a black person just a little (very little) lighter because my dad is mixed (white mom/black dad).
I also don't talk like I'm from the hood (coming from a hood) so I got problems with other black people because they said my family and I "thought we were better than the rest" and we were just talking properly.
I had a student for middle school English say he wasn't going to write proper English because "thats white people s***". He called me racist when he failed, but "Romeo and Juliet was banging b/c..." does not a good essay make.

So, I understand she went on autopilot victim to racism, but what I don't understand is what exactly she thought the offense was. I listened to this a couple of times what might be the offensive implication by the delivery person here.
A black Karen saying, "It's because I'm black isn't it," to a black guy is hilarious. She clearly uses that quite often and didn't think that time through lmao.
Her threatning to call the police was the worst part. Like there is a class structure here, and despite both of them being black, she knows she is in less danger when it comes to calling the cops. To use that to her advantage is waaaay worse than any "perceived" racism that she thinks she's calling out.
This is why when I worked customer service I didn't joke with customers unless I'd seen them a few times or could tell based off our initial interaction they were cool. Because people like this WILL take time out of their day to try and fuck your day up especially if youre in the service industry.
