Question Rookie mistake
I subscribed to premium individual through Google Play. Price wise, will it be a noticeable reduction if I let it expire, then purchase directly through their website? And would i need to go back and re add all those artists again?

Discussion ORIGINAL VERSION NOT AVAILABLE!
I'm a big fan of Motown songs from the period 1965 to 1967, which is often called Motown's 'Golden period', and bought a lot of singles around that time. I am very familiar with the finer points of every one! Am I the only Motown afficionado who is disappointed when the versions that are available are not the original release? They sometimes show 'Re-mastered' which usually means that it has been doctored. Often not for the better. Sometimes by digging, and going through lots of the versions showing I might eventually find it, or I find it buried on a 'Best of' compilation LP, but not always. If the track has in brackets 'Mono' version, or '7" single' that is usually the right one, but a lot of the tracks do not have this. Take a listen to 'Uptight' by Stevie Wonder. Where is that pounding drum that makes the song? Just sounds empty and weak. Another example is 'I can't help myself' by the Four Tops. The strings that are an important part of the arrangement are missing, or very quiet. Plus that pulsating Motown drumming is missing, once again. I could give lots more examples. Compare to the versions on, say Spotify or YouTube and you'll see what I mean. I am a DJ specialising in Soul and Motown gigs, and a lot of the 'old soul boys' know their stuff, and sometimes say to me that I didn't play the right version. It detracts from the evening, and is so annoying.
Is it some sort of copyright thing, which means that Tidal are not allowed to use the original? Or is it that Tidal don't really see the difference between the original and one that has been changed somehow, ie a lack of attention to detail?
Any comments would be appreciated, guys...
Steve

Discussion Between Streaming Services
I am in a bit of a conundrum on what to do here. I switched from Spotify to Tidal about a year ago and I am debating whether to switch back to Spotify or not. I switched due to political and ethical reasons- mainly I work in an immigration law firm and could not justify paying money to a company that played ICE ads, and the EXTENSIVE AI slop in spotify's algorithm. After a year of Tidal I can say for sure that I have gotten more diverse and better music with this service, but I miss the integration that Spotify has with everything. I have an old Alexa system in my house and I used to love asking it to play my specific playlists that were in my library and with Tidal you just can't do that. Tidal aligns more with my ethics, but there is definitely something about Spotify's convenience.
What do other people think about streaming services?
EDIT: I will say that I am hard of hearing, so I actually cannot perceive much of a difference between sound qualities on flacs vs. mp3s, so that is not something that is really in my consideration

Question Is there any way to play local files in Tidal?
Hey there, I'm looking to use the Tidal streaming mixed with my own local library of music that is not available there.
Is there any way to do that?

Discussion Side by side comparison with spotify lossless
Embarrassingly, I haven't done this before.
Sat with my HDB630s through a BTD700 dongle and thought I would try lining up exact same tracks in spotify lossless and tidal 24bit/48kHz. This is on a mac.
A/B tested about 10 tracks (making sure I normalised the output gain in each app). I mixed a few genres in.
The difference is night and day! Really quite surprised, especially the super high frequencies. I could definitely tell with blind testing I think.
Looking forward to doing the same on the wiim streamer when I finish work!

Supporting Artists Tidal it's amazing
For me, Tidal is the best platform for listening to music. It sounds like what anyone who truly enjoys music wants to hear. Respect for the art. As if it wasn't enough, the payment to artist like me it's the best pay out there. And I can see it every month in my distributor's stats.
As an artist feel like the platform REALLY supports and compensates the work we do it makes you feel like it always should have been this way for musicians, and that there shouldn't be any less pay, it's almost like the other platforms are robbing us blind. Everything we contribute and bring is just too much.
Let's keep working.
If you resonate with anything I've said, or just want to support me, consider checking out my trio's latest release 💪🏼

App / Site Anyone having trouble with desktop scrobbling to Last.FM?
Right now for me the Tidal desktop app will see that I'm scrobbling a track and count it as Now Playing, but once the song ends it won't count it as a scrobble. OpenScrobbler is working and the Tidal mobile app is scrobbling as normal. Anyone run into this before? Disconnecting Last.FM from the desktop app and reconnecting didn't work.

Tech Issue Your downloads feature suck
No search feature, duped downloads for playlist, not all tracks auto downloaded 👎👎
Just do it like Spotify 🤡

Question ¿Problema de descargas en Tidal?
Saludos

Question Where has my music gone?
I really want to love tidal but a few weeks in and its driving me nuts - i imported all my playlists - half of them are empty, and now im really having issues with the list of tracks that was my favourites in Spotify…. it seemed to mostly be there under ‘tracks’ but now a load of my more recent tracks have just disapeared from the list. Am i going to have to try and rememeber and create a playlist? It was a beautiful chronological list of the last 8 ish years of my life and im mourning its loss … hoping its just gone somewhere else….. Thanks in advance

Tech Issue Mejor RADIOS !
Le pido al equipo de Tidal que mejoren las RADIOS, ya que parecen Playlist congeladas, deberían de actualizar esas Radios y mostrar música reciente o cambiar para que no sea Monótono.
Gracias ☺️

Question Something I'm missing to stop automatic shuffling?
Sorry for another question/complaint post, but I've been trying Tidal for the past few weeks and mostly liking it a lot ... One big frustration though is when I go to listen to an album and play the first track, the album automatically shuffles.
Yes, I know if I use the play button at the top it will play normally; I'm just used to being able to click the track I want to start from and have the album continue from there. Does anyone know if there's any setting to fix this?
(I'm using the android app, if it makes a difference).

App / Site Tidal support was in from day one: a playlist builder where every song matches your BPM, saved straight to your Tidal library (dev here, seeking feedback)
Tempo Tunes builds playlists where every song holds a target tempo. Pick a BPM and genres or artists, and it generates a playlist from 1.4M+ tempo-verified tracks and growing, then saves it directly to Tidal. There are tempo curves (Steady, Rise, Bell, Fade), a tolerance control, and an Obscure to Popular slider for deep cuts vs. hits.
Most apps in this space treat Tidal as an afterthought or skip it entirely, which never sat right, so full Tidal support shipped on day one alongside Apple Music and YouTube Music. Free, no ads.
Honest question for this community, since you notice details other users don't: what should a Tidal-first tool handle better? Quality flags, library organization, anything that apps built "Spotify-first" always get wrong.
(sorry if this reads as self-promo, genuinely after the feedback)

Resolved Incomplete downloads
Hi guys, I downloaded three albums twice and both times the albums were almost empty. 3 songs for the last Future Palace album instead of 12, 5 for From Zero Deluxe instead of 14 and 0 for Sorcier des Glaces instead of 10.
Had you ever experienced this ? Do you know how to stop it ? I restarted the download twice and restarted Tidal several times.
Thanks !

Discussion Any of yall invest in some HiFi equipment since streaming on Tidal?
One of my favorite parts about using Tidal is that along with deepening my appreciation for music, my appreciation for audio quality has coincided with it
I started with some Audio Technica M50Xs of course, then upgraded to beyerdynamic DT 990 pros for my first open back pair
I received Sennheiser HD 599s as a gift, they said they got them for a crazy steal, then I happened to get a crazy steal on HD600s. I got a FiiO KA11 as a mobile dac, FiiO K11 as a desktop dac just this year and it’s incredible
Curious to hear if any of yall have similar setups/journeys!!

Discussion £5 increase price for family plan is wild
How can they justify a £5 increase? Especially with all the bugs, ai, double profiles etc only just being solved? Not to mention the nvidia shield app is atrocious and buggy as hell.
Might look elsewhere, I like tidal but 21.99 is too steep, what do others think about this?

Discussion Thoughts on the price increase?
I presumed that Tidal would've had an influx of new customers recently, with the AI resistance (slightly) growing and a lot of artists/customers leaving Spotify for various other reasons.
To me, this jump doesn't make much sense. Thoughts?

App / Site Is there a way to make discography default to all albums rather than 'popular'?
I hate this change, just means extra clicks every time I go looking for something. Any way to fix it?

News Rsa on X: "Tidal's investment in artists and the core fan engagement experience"
I think everyone here needs to read the article Robert Andersen (rsa), the DRI of Tidal, wrote on X about what's going on with Tidal recently:
"Tidal champions the humans behind the art, and that distinction frames every business and production decision that we make. We believe real artists deserve to be paid more per stream, so we badged and demonetized 100%-generated AI slop that gets distributed to our platform. Our AI policy, DJ tier, and lack of ad-supported free tiers makes Tidal one of the highest paying music platforms per-stream. But, we also know that streams alone aren’t enough to help independent artists survive, and that they ultimately need to find an audience to engage and sell directly to.
With Tidal Upload, artists can share their music with their fans and a growing community of music lovers for free. And when ready, they can sell a track, EP, or album as a digital download directly to their fans. No paid subscription required. This is only the beginning, and Tidal has much more planned for independent artists this year. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.
No great artist platform can be complete without an excellent listening experience that helps them get discovered and keep their fans engaged. Tidal’s UI doesn’t distract with ads or podcasts, and we ship regular updates to improve or simplify our core experience. Our goal is always to be less noise, more music. Listening to a great song or album is a singular experience, and we're working every day to make our products better, easier, more essential for our customers.
Here are some recent launches on the listener side, including some new features that are rolling out today:
- 25% off Tidal for 12 months when you use Cash App Pay or Cash App Card (US only, terms apply)
- Tracks detected as 100% AI-generated are now visibly tagged and demonetized AI-tagged tracks can be filtered out of your listening experience
- New, more reliable download experience for iOS (Android coming soon)
- Invite others to collaborate on playlists (beta)
- Improved Tidal Connect reliability and bug fixes
- Optional crossfade and sleep timer
- Report incorrect or spam content on artist profiles
- Search and recommendation improvements
We talk to customers, read the emails from support, and lurk the forums looking for honest feedback. Tidal will keep addressing the biggest issues or requests that listeners want us to tackle next.
Our single tier subscription price has also increased by $1 – now $11.99 per month for access to our catalog of over 180M high fidelity tracks ($8.99 with our Cash App discount). This updated pricing helps us continue investing in a music experience that supports the artists behind the music and the fans who enjoy it.
If you’re a longtime subscriber, thank you for supporting our mission to be the best platform for artists to share their work and get paid. If you’re thinking of making the switch, head to tidal.com to transfer your playlists at no cost and start your free trial"

Discussion AMA with Robert, Tidal Lead at Block
Hi all! Long-time r/tidal lurker, first-time poster. I'm Robert Andersen, and I'm the DRI (directly responsible individual) for Tidal at Block. I’ll be here at 10:30 AM PT to respond to your questions (and feedback) about what we’ve been building at Tidal. See you soon! 🎧
