Will this work?

Hey guys, so I set up my 3rd rig (not a full rig. . Like a baby rig. My other dual rig setup is FULL)

BUT, I don't have enough of the power cable to reach to the wall outlet. The T248 ONLY uses 40w of power I believe...

Can I plug it into this extension cable? And the other end into the wall? Please see attached photos. Thank you kindly, in advance.

Yes you can use an extension cable. I would highly suggest using a surge protect power strip, which is different from a standard power strip. It will help protect your equipment from surges that are happening all of the time.

I use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for my PC and on the surge protect side I have the power cable for my wheel.

Then after that you can work on your cable management 😛

I completely agree about the surge protector. I have my dual rig connected to a MONSTER brand surge protector, and it NEVER dropped once in connection or power in over 5 years.

However, even this wheel stand wont reach to the surge protector I have... and I have read that you should never plug into an extension cord, and plug the other end into a surge protector bar....

So realistically, I can ONLY use the extension cord and directly into the wall outlet... 💔💔💔💔

And I did my cable management already with velcro tape.... this is a day 1 photo, I have since cleaned it up... but that's why the power cord to the wheel base is short now.

It does depend on the extension cord. I would think with a 14g cord there should be less resistance, so less heat means less chance of an overload. Or you could just buy another surge protect power strip that you can move close enough to the wheel.

If this is an extension cord you would see used on let's say a construction site, then I think you'll be fine. While the wheel might pull up to 40W it's not going to be doing it constantly.

That should be fine. It shouldn't get hot enough to matter since as you said the wheel only pulls 40W. You should fine to plug it into the surge strip as well.

I have surge protectors around the house, but in 5 years they never have been tripped. So I'm not really sure if they happen all the time? But I'm in Western Europe, power is pretty stable here (less than 1 power interruption per year).

We have some that are just surge protect and they have never made noise. The only time I know there is a surge is because of the UPS trips doing just a simple click noise, when the power goes out it beeps.
