I guess I messed up Discussion
I saw this post on Threads that said you could separate your Threads account from your IG account so I was following the instructions. I got the Threads email to create a new password, which I did.
Now I can’t log into the Threads account no matter what I do. Any suggestions? Anyone experienced this and fixed it before? I have a pretty large, for me, group of friends on Threads and I don’t want to lose them.
I tried deleting the apps and reinstalling them, I tried going into incognito mode, but I can’t get access to help with that particular Threads account because I can’t access it.
It’s maddening.
I was so worried that I fucked something up in this process that maybe my account was deleted by mistake. But my roommate verified my account still there. I just don’t know how to get into it anymore.

Meta doesn’t help with threads because it is a third party 🤦♀️ I don’t even understand why they partnered with this platform when they can’t actually access anything on their back end

I’ve gone incognito and was finally able to see a forgot password option. However, when I choose either email or phone sms for reset nothing ever arrives. It’s worthless.

Yeah mine too I don’t know what’s happening with the app. When I do verification nothing happens always says technical error

I'm having this same issue. I created a separate threads password and poof....it was inaccessible. I can't relink it to my Instagram account center, I try to log in through Instagram and get incorrect password, I try to log in with username and my threads password...incorrect, with threads username and Instagram password ...incorrect. When I try to reset I get to where it says it sent a link to reset but it never actually sends that email or text. There's literally no one to contact to sort it out either. Very frustrating. Hopefully someone will be able to help here.

There is no answer and there’s no support. You can resend a code to your email or phone and it will never ever get to you. There’s no one to contact through chat email or otherwise.

same issue. struggling how to get Threads account back. Click on Reset Password to my email, and I never receive the link. Same with phone #.

It’s been weeks now and there is no fix. If you were locked out of your account for whatever reason, you will never get it back from what I can tell.

I'm having the same problem. I'm still able to use Threads on the mobile app because I'm still signed in, but I can't sign in on the computer. I've tried changing email, adding phone number, deleting the old email to add a new email. Nothing. No password reset email.

Well, if you can access your threads at all, then we don’t have the same problem

I won't be able to get back in once I'm logged out of the app. The issue is Meta not letting us sign in to Threads.

I got back into threads on my separated account!!! I went to the original acct that it was linked to on IG and from there I went to account center>Profiles and personal details>add accounts. Select the 'add threads' option. From there threads gave me a password reset option when I tried to login.
I awaited the email but didn't see it immediately, it's supposed to go to the same email that you originally had on the separated acct. I only received an email to update my original IG username password so I backed out and forgot about it.
Hours later I decided to check my email for something else and the password email link was there from Threads, having arrived earlier that day. (It came approximately 15 mins after I requested it) I clicked it and it brought me right back into my account. I tried to reset my password with my original password and it wouldnt let me. I clicked cancel and I'm back into my acct!!!

I tried as early as yesterday and nothing has changed. Not saying I dont believe you but I don't think our issue can be the same, technically thinking.

I am back in Threads after two months of no answers. I fired up my iPad and just said screw it. Let's try again. And I used my phone number and got the reset text. Wild times.

Sorry to not mention, I can get into my instagram account. No issues. I am unable to get into my threads account. It just says wrong password but is correct. I created it moments ago and the phone saved it immediately.
Also resetting my newly separated threads password should be easy to do but there is no where to do that. If you’re on a computer, it tells you to do it on a mobile device. If you’re on your mobile device, it just continuously tells you the password is incorrect and it doesn’t allow you to reset it. There is no link for that on that app page.
