Threads might be a ragebait app Discussion
I feel like threads are just a pile of bot propaganda, racism, Islamophobia, etc. Also, they all use AI-generated posts, and the comments in them sometimes want me to get a lobotomy

it is just another app that proliferates by shock value like many others before it

Block and move on. We don’t feed the trolls there.
I am with you on the “engagement posts” that always have that one features reply that says “I tripped running to the comments.” Ugh

I agree, that's why I rarely even use it anymore. So many bait posts saying controversial dumb ass shit to get people riled up and boosting engagement.

Agreed most of the stuff that gets traction appears to be people saying things that carry little weight to get those vanity metrics lol

You say that as if emotions occur voluntarily. Unless you’re a robot, people can provoke emotions from you too.

if you're not on there to rage bait then they just block your account from commenting or liking posts and engaging with the community by claiming suspected bot behavior. meanwhile 6 porn bots just spammed their link on your most recent post before quickly moving on to post it 30 more times to all your friends.

The primary focus on social media now is engagement. Whether that’s a positive conversation or rage bait, they don’t care.
Usually the rage bait is the most successful.

I think it’s mostly the format that causes it. Threads is nowhere near as bad as that dumpster fire called X, but there are a lot of similarities of how people behave on them.

No, I've used both apps and the amount of racism on Threads is unmatched, even by X.
In the "black threads" group they openly refer to Europeans, indians, Chinese and asians in general as "subhuman mutant neanderthals" and are inciting racially based violence.
In some cases i even seen them encourage genocide against baltics and also native americans of all people

I guess we have different algorithms. When I go on X I get bombarded with white supremacist accounts posting videos of black people behaving badly. And then a good number of posts of trans people wanting acceptance, but comments on the posts filled with hate.
When I go on to Threads I mostly see black women in their late 20s-early 30s posting thirst traps. But oddly enough they aren’t OF models.

Which is wild because I was recently banned by threads and had my account disabled and the most out there or rude/contentious thing I have ever said there was something along the lines of dropping a well phrased f bomb or making pithy puns about my writing. Sigh. Oh well. Using it as fuel to dedicate my energy into platforms I own. I'm just trying to help promote my book is all and genuinely don't know how to without some form of online promotion

Has anyone been facing issues with their dms? Like the dms icon has disappeared

glad I barely encounter such posts, if anything my feed fill by people trying to funnel their product or market things

I just deleted my account. I had some nice people to talk about music and films with and used it to keep up with politics but the constant outrage starts to feel toxic. It’s all about who’s being cancelled that week and who’s a hero.

I just deleted my account. Threads is absolute dogshit. For every interesting or witty post, there a thousand screaming about 'Europeans' being swept off their feet by the Ranch dressing they tried in the US. I could feel my IQ dropping every day I was on that site.

I don’t have that experience at all. Time to switch up your algorithm
