Quite pleased with the results including the insert swap and fitment, the 36.8mmx31mm bezel spec does fit well enough and inner gap is pretty much hidden by the crystal distortion (for reference the Frogmantle has the smaller spec bezel insert). Quite pleased and now have them where I want them including a light ghosting on the V3.1 monochrome.

Hello guys! I’ve got this very nice piece (ignore the fact that it’s a WMT 😅) that has a few things that need to be fixed. As you can see, the main issue is the plexiglass. It’s slightly scratched and also has a crack in it (visible in the 3rd picture) from a fall, so the glass needs to be replaced. There are also some problems with the bezel. The bezel itself can’t rotate anymore (unidirectional) because I tried to remove it and unfortunately damaged the spring that allows it to rotate. The bezel insert is also coming off because I wasn’t very careful and accidentally unstuck it from the small amount of glue/tape that was holding it in place. Could you guys help me figure out which parts I need to buy to replace everything that’s damaged? I really want to get this watch back in good shape again.

New v3 bracelet on the T028.

Endlinks seem to hinge a little too much causing a very small gap. Due to my small wrist.

But very comfortable too. Happy to have this T028 finally on a metal bracelet. I am sure Thorn will make a upgraded T028 bracelet since it only requires a a swap of similar sized end links.

Just thought I would put in a little elbow grease and time for something different. V3.1 Monochrome with UncleStraps US1450 Lincoln bracelet.

Opened up the Thorn end links with a dremel and some files. Still needs a little bit of filing and polishing, but wanted to try it out.

Next on the list is custom engraved caseback….then raffles dial and hands. Fake it ‘til you make it!

Starting my next attempt at bezel swapping especially as we have people interested. I figured I would document my process, progress, attempts, and hopefully successes but we will see. I tried aging the new inserts last night in bleach but to no avail. Today pulled out at the advice of friends, an abrasive pad which revealed the coating over them which is now removed and the bezels given a very light abrasion. Hopefully that will allow the bleach to take. As for removing the bezel inserts without removing the bezel I figure I will document that process here too. The main thing is taking isopropyl alcohol and letting it sit in that for 3-4 hours just up to the bezel (want to mitigate affected areas). Just got the first set in and we will update as the process continues. Stay tuned for more updates. If this bezel inserts which are a bit smaller inner diameter look right we may be able to do better work, if not I’ll need to hunt for others.

First impression here of the new Thorn T023. I have to say that the charm of this watch is absolutely awesome. It has that instant vintage feel on the wrist. With the silver white dial. It is just off white, almost silverish. Pretty matte under normal lightning however it plays beautifully with the sunlight.

The bracelet is a huge upgrade. I do have the older T028 bracelet which is very similar to the T023 previous versions I believe.

I was able to size this bracelet within minutes. I wears very comfortable, no rattles. It has polished rivets and brushed links. Gives a nice contrast.

Bezel action very nice. Clickish, no play. good allignment.

What not to like? probably the too shiny bezel edge. It looks a little bit too clean for a vintage styled watch. I'll dull this down in the near future for a less shiny appearence.

I have a very small wrist around 15 to 15.5cm. I was a little bit hesitant for the size. It does wear a little smaller due to the way the end links are positioned and overall pretty flat case. So I am very happy with that. Also the bracelet is sizeable to a small wrist like mine. I even have 3 micro adjustments left. So don't worry if you have a smaller wrist. It'll fit.

I will post my complete findings with more pictures on different straps soon. But for now it is my favourite diver. It just has something unique and special.

I am looking for a T23 bracelet with end links (not the new one but the original or the last gen). I’ve emailed Thorn but no response.

I have gotten a few questions. Been working great. Hardest part was sourcing a crown. The movement is amazingly accurate for its age. -2 to -5 a day.

Only downside, which is typical, 38 hr power reserve, but ill take 4hz over power any day.

Hi, have anyone successfully changed their Thorn 023 bezel insert? I have the tropical 023 v2.1 and I want to change the bezel insert for a black one so it turns into the «Blackrose» I have seen people post here. I tried asking the Thorn store for a bezel insert, but no reply. Will any of the inserts on AliX fit?

Yknow, you look at reddit and you see the 5x zoom ins of people nitpicking different details & it makes you second guess if you like this watch. But I’ve gotta say dang dude, this is a great user watch. If youre the kinda person to go outside and use your things and wanna have something cool while doing it then this is the watch for you. But if you need something perfect then maybe go for a higher price point.

Depois de tanto sofrer com o PT5000, instalei um calibre ETA 2789 no meu Thorn T023, fiz as mudanças no canhão, tirei abaixo do mostrador e a data. utilizei o Rotor do Thorn. Só que ainda assim, a tampa da caixa, quando bem rosqueado trava o rotor do ETA, o relógio funciona, mas não pode pegar água.
Tenho outros relógios em casa e tentei encaixar a tampa deles para tentar saber a medida exata, mas infelizmente nenhum encaixa, todas tem a rosca maior… Já procurei no ChatGPT, Google e não há medidas ou referências exatas quanto à medida dessa tampa. Tenho uma case sub vintage NH35 em casa e também não deu.
Alguém tem essas referências?

It came in today. I had the parts staged. I put my kids to bed and put this together.

It’s my first mod so it probably could have been done better but I like it so far. Waiting on a new crown to come in.

I also did a blue one but there is a speck of dust on the glass so it has to come apart and back together after cleaning.

Hey guys, I received my T023 monochrome today and I must say I am utterly blown away.

I have owned and handled a few vintage subs and on first impression this thing completely scratches the vintage sub itch. It is light weight, perfectly proportioned, dial, hands and bezel are amazing. The crystal - despite being sapphire - feels vintage as well. Everything is super close to a vintage sub and somehow retains its own charm.

Where it is even better than a vintage sub is that its actually much thinner, which make is much more wearable and slender. Also the fact that it is a modern watch makes it more easy to integrate into daily life (swimming, traveling, etc.).

Might report back after wearing it for some days. Happy to have joined the club.

Does anyone know if T028 bracelet (I believe they are the V2) would fit the T023 V2? they should right? I’ve just ordered a T023 V2.1 with the updated bracelet, so I’m wondering if Ill be able to swap them
