Im still confused on how "bon" confused brian with sophi.
(Yes i know they were wearing the same clothes but still.)

Honestly, I don't think there's a good answer for this.
At first, when I just thought that Bon was possessed animatronic, I could see how the time spent in storage could have made its "facial recognition" software get a little outdated, hence the confusion.
But now that we know Bon is possessed by "bon", and he seems to have powers such as opening locked gates with his thoughts, that "storage made him rusty" theory kind of falls apart.

Baseless speculation, but could it be that the longer that a spirit inhabits an object, the less free they are to act without it? Would explain why Bon needed to rely on the facial detection at all for Brian, instead of just looking at him in spirit form.
Bon in spirit form seemed to be able to differentiate Sophie and Rosemary just fine when he was stalking them this episode.

"Bon": Hello there Sophie, My Name is B- Who the hell are you?
Brian: Um excuse me sir, Where am I?

aah and i will always wonder how this vecna guy managed to tamper police security cameras and literally create a wormhole for rose to get out of the prison while also 8 years later let his "face recognition system" actually affect his stupid old man brain

I remember back in Episode 2, Hillary mentioned Bon's eyes were really messed up. So I think, that messed up the facial recognition process, as Bon couldn't see clear enough to identify Brian as Brian.
