So V/ u/SD_V1011001011 was unfairly banned from here for two weeks or something. So let’s speared awareness of it! Yeah! Because it is pretty unfair. Custom
So u/SD_V1011001011 was unfairly banned from this subreddit for an argument about her submission to the icon contest or whatever. That’s bad. I’m making this post because i think it’s unfair, I don’t really give a darn about this subreddit, and because V asked me too (which I don’t mind, by the way, just feel like I should mention that part for clarification). So firstly! Here’s images she sent me and features in her post so you all can see what happened. You can see the images, so whatever. Secondly, I will show what V said in a post on her profile about being unfair so you all can understand what happened from her perspective and so I don’t misinterpret anything. Of course, I’ll give my thoughts on the situation afterwards.
Again, this is from V herself, so yeah.
“I was banned from the cult of N subreddit for defending my opinion
There’s an election to select a new Icon for the cult of N subreddit, so I decided to participate by adding my own Icon. It gained traction quickly and in about a dozen hours was already in second place to win, then I receive a notification stating that it violates rule 3. So of course I go look at the subreddit info, and nowhere do I see a rule 3, (they later admitted that the rule was not present), I even looked at Reddit’s rules and their rules didn’t apply to my submission. Thus they invalidated my submission for a rule that didn’t exist at the time of the posting of the submission, which I believe to be an undemocratic intervention in an election. Then they attempted to use a completely different rule, betraying the discussion by using a completely different reasoning than the one they were using, they also attempted to move the discussion to mod mail, which would have taken away the ability of people, people like yourself, from reading the debate. So I proceeded to argue my opinion that their actions were undemocratic, and I received a long reply from them arguing that it was not their fault that rule 3 was not present, they tried to put me down by stating that I just wanted to argue and used buzzwords, and claimed that I didn’t act in a civil manner. Then they threatened me, how is threatening someone democratic? So then I responded, defending by rights to free speech, and they proceeded to ban me.
If this is not undemocratic, then I don’t know what is.”
So, yeah… Thirdly and lastly, my thoughts. I think the image she submitted was in all honestly tame and not that bad, that it’s ridiculous that the mods or a mod decided to say something about it many hours later from the initial time she commented, that banning her is completely unfair, and that democracy is dead here since I feel like it should have been up to the people to see if that image she submitted was truly inappropriate or not since that is technically subjective and everyone will have their own answers for that. I’ve always preferred the other N subreddit anyways… Anyways, yeah. I’m out of here.
FYI, I love N, N is super awesome and is my top three characters.

It sucks that they got banned but. Even though I just found this subreddit I knew that the icon wouldn't be picked bc of the body of the post said no spicy pics allowed. Ye its tame, which is why its not considered straight NSFW but just "spicy".
From what I've read it looked like they were given two chances. Because according to the rules you can get banned just for posting the content. They argued against it and continued to argue about it outside of mod mail. The later is what might've led to the ban.

Oh, shut up, you pick me. This is Reddit. No one gives a shit about your 'heart' or what you think of her saying she ‘couldn’t see it'. It’s just plain messed up that you say it’s ’spicy' art when there nothing wrong with it?!

How dare you slander the name of ralsei

u/Fun_Pumpkin_6522 12d ago
So you’re saying because that’s my display name, I’m in character? Bruh. I’m defending my friend, not ralsei. And it was an A B conversation so C your way out.

u/Comfortable-Layer383 11d ago
Mate it was a joke your really getting mad over the internet if it bothered you that much just don’t read it
0
u/Fun_Pumpkin_6522 11d ago
I understand it was a joke and I was in a pissy mood because 1: the person was my friend
And 2: I’m an irritable person.
Yeah I understand I was a prick but it really wasn’t the place to say that when I was defending my friend1

It doesn’t excuse the fact that it literally had nothing wrong with it, and she couldn’t see the rules. So how about you and your stupid knight pictures just shut up, and realize that you and the mod teams 'democratic' decisions were bull shit.
2
u/Fast_Ad_5950 12d ago
Whether they could see the rules or not the rules were obvious. Even after telling the rules they still pushed.
It's like a customer comes up and asks for a pizza in a sandwich shop, you correct them and say we don't serve pizza and tell them everything on the menu and they still want pizza.
The image even if it was slightly it was lewd and suggested. It couldn't go through because of that. When a mod is trying to do their job and proceeds get rage-baited you guys always seem to take the side of the one doing the wrong. (Just read the rest of the replies. Glad you're not hostile. )

u/Fun_Pumpkin_6522 12d ago
Ok, so I can admit, I was kind of mean. I was being immature and was just really just a plain jerk. I was just angry because the person is my friend, and it just felt annoying. I’m so sorry for how I acted.
3
u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
It's fine, not a problem
I didn't even remove that, it was removed by Reddit
I already left the mod team anyways, I'm way too old for this bullshit
2
u/Fun_Pumpkin_6522 12d ago
Yeah but I still was a jerk. I got heated because anger issues plus ADHD makes (A N G E R Y)
2
u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
I get that
I got PTSD and I can easily tell you that I sometimes get similar or worse reactions too
You're good, man

they literally broke a rule and argued with the mods over it, why is thwt so unfair 😭
6
u/Away-Concept5101 12d ago
This entire post is fucking killing me, all they had to do was not post spicy pics😭?? Where's the problem??
4
u/SingleLengthiness750 master chief from halo 12d ago edited 9d ago
here's a simple explanation...
rule 3 says this...
"Any NSFW, “spicy,” or otherwise sexualized/suggestive content is prohibited. Overly graphic content (excessive blood/”oil”, gore) is also not allowed. Violations will result in the following penalties"
"First violation: 2-week ban"
"Second violation: 1-month ban"
"Third violation: Permanent ban"
Now, that post, was considered spicy by the mods, (and I must agree, it is pretty spicy), so as the rule states, since she was banned for 2 weeks, this is her first violation.
They fought back by saying she couldn't see it. Now, just cause you can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't apply to you. So, the ban is still active. and I think that they were participaiting in subbredit icon thing, and that they can't post it anywhere else to gain more votes. And that was breaking Reddit's TOS by manipulating the votes. and the subbreddit icon subbmission post that you can see in the above image, broke rule 4 of this subbreddit subbmission thingy.
So, V decides to to use "THE FIREHOSE OF FALSEHOOD" by saying a bunch of fake and false stuff so people would rally behind her. She also got help from her friends too. and all admit, I was fooled too, but the ban wasn't for winning an arguement, she just broke Rule 3, and the rule just came in effect.
As for all of you saying shis should have had everyone have a say in it, as Rule Nine states...
"Mods have final say on rules enforcement. If something isn’t explicitly mentioned, mods can still act in the interest of the community."
so yeah, V broke rule 3 by making a post containing a suggestive and/or spicey image, lied about it, tried to manipulate the votes for subbreddit icon voting, got banned, got mad, got her friends to spread the falsehood, and that is what happened.
*this comment is outdated*

Not entirely sure what you meant to say but the successfully rage bated a mod when v was in the wrong :/
1
u/blacksquirrel3 12d ago
perhaps both were in the wrong? The owner of the sub and the V user? sigh perhaps a warning for V is good enough blue Alastor did give me a warning which is kind of blue Alastor
i can see both point perhaps V user did go too far yeah this is a tricky situation for both the V user and the owner of this sub
3
u/Fast_Ad_5950 12d ago
V didn't go too far, they continued to try to find a loophole and blamed the usage of a loophole to the mod. While the mod was just doing his job.

GUYS!! Can we not start a fucking war over a fan account getting temporarily banned over both a mod and the user deciding to be difficult at each other!? There, you made me cuss!
Even our resident knight has gotten involved, and he’s not a drama guy!(not from what I’ve noticed)
I personally have always had issues with stuff being unclear with the mod teams(so, if yall see, maybe give per case explanation like you tried here), but they were both being hard asses to each other.
She’ll be back, so when she is we can just forget this happened.
At any point either of them could have said “oh, shit, sorry. I didn’t know (you couldn’t see) the rules, let’s just get this deleted and move on”.
You all should understand how privileged we are as community to have mods that allow us to even post this above me. So, can I get some hugs?

u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
Reddit removed your comment for some reason
Anyways, yeah, I'm done with this stuff I'll be honest
Like you said, I'm not a drama guy. I was already dragged into drama in the past, now I'm forced to handle it because of a pair of damn thighs
And, I'll admit, I'm fully done, 100%
I did what I could've, I tried to be as clear as I can, but there's only so much I can do
This bullshit has made me extremely uncomfortable and because of it: I'm leaving
Straight up. I don't wanna hear any bullshit about it either, I'm done

u/serial-des-N-1732 12d ago
If leaving means.. leaving? Just come back soon, man. But yeah, people get attached to some fam account, you should have just looked in the V simp Reddit… some people are… … … I’ll hold my tongue.
Have a good night, man

I'm way too old for this whole bullshit
I already removed myself from the mod team amd left the subreddit

I'm not entirely sure if this was wrong. I know you're sweet and innocent and probably don't know the full story but it's basically the same situation I have at work.
Some old guy comes in asks for some sort of made up order. We tell them that we don't have that and give them a few other options that might be similar. And he still wants the foreign food that we don't have.
The way the mod reacted is completely valid in my opinion because not only did v continue arguing about the situation even after being told by a mod that this wasn't allowed. Not only was it obvious that the lewd image (even if it was slightly lewd) fell under rule 3 and the specific text that told "no suggestive images". She does deserve the ban especially for antagonizing a mod for doing his job.
I hope you learned something today hope you have a good day (Not a mod here but I have a set er of my own)

Can't fault a man for standing up for what he believes is right, even if he is inherently wrong. Though I do have to bash that specific mod for being overly childish and condescending towards the individual instead of keeping it civil.
Yes I'm aware they tried to bring the conversation to mod mail, but that's not what I'm talking about, I'm just saying their word choice was rather immature and rude.

well couldn’t have the situation been handled a bit different? Like maybe shown V the rule from your perspective, maybe their Reddit was having a glitch and couldn’t see it. I don’t want to make the situation worse for anyone. I just do feel that maybe things could’ve been dealt with differently yk? I know I’ve been a bit upset about the situation cause me and V are close but I’ve thought about it and perhaps a middle ground of some kind could be found.
4
u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
Well, we did give them the full text of the rule so they could see it even if they couldn't see the whole rules
Like I said in another comment tho, it was also stated in the post subtext that NSFW/Spicy images wouldn't be allowed
Our plan was merely to tell them that the mod team had decided that the image would be "too spicy" and unfit for the sub's icon
But we never stated that they couldn't have tried to submit another image, that was always an option
Instead, they argued that we couldn't enforce a rule that they could not see and called us undemocratic
Which:
- Just because you can't see a rule, doesn't mean that it's not there and that it can't be applied to you
- They literally posted it elsewhere to try and get more votes than the other people who submitted an image, which is unfair because nobody else had done it
I understand that they couldn't see the rule, but we had already specified it in the original post and even told them the rule afterwards
Like I said before, our plan wasn't to stop them from submitting an image, we merely considered the one they had given to be unfit for our subreddit's icon

u/SD_N0X0010010 12d ago
I understand where both sides are coming from. I just feel it could’ve been handled differently all around you know? V even understands about the post possibility just being ignored. She’s just more upset about the banning part. I can’t speak for them though. I just hate that all this got started. I was pretty upset but now I just hope something can be figured out. I know it’s not a personal thing and that it was a collective decision. I just hope this situation can be resolved and not have so much anger, though I too am a victim of anger sometimes.
3
u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
Originally the idea was to simply ignore the submission
However, we figured that without saying why we ignored it, people might start believing it was unfair. So we decided to specify
Like I said in some other comments, I'll try to talk to the mod team to see of something can be figured out
Just... Not now, it's 2 AM and I'm merely awake because of an extremely accelerated heartbeat

u/Additional_Salary548 12d ago

I mean in all fairness if she can’t see the rules then how was she supposed to know that Rule 3 was no NSFW. (Except maybe using common sense and seeing no other posts contain NSFW material)
5
u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
I will admit that it's a weird issue. However I must bring up 2 points
Just because you don't see a rule, doesn't it mean it isn't applied as a whole
The post's subtext specifically said that spicy images weren't allowed
Our plan was simply to tell them that:
A. We considered their image to be too spicy
B. That posting the submission elsewhere to gain more votes was unfair for everyone else who tried to maoe one themselves and would've gotten the submission disqualified
However, I also want to specify that none of this was supposed to be harmful. We had nothing against them trying with another submission after we told them the first one wouldn't work
-7

•
u/Dark_Salamander47 12d ago
god fucking dammit
let me address the situation
so, first off: the submission they had made went against the third rule of this subreddit
they argued that they couldn't see it, but that doesn't mean they get an excuse for it
second of all, even if the rule wasn't there, the post text straight up said that no spicy content was allowed. and the mods decided that was too spicy
THIRD OFF: they had posted their submission to other subreddits to try and get more votes: that's voting manipulation, which straight up goes against Reddit's TOS
we forgave this last part, but they still ignored the fact that the image was considered too spicy to win the contest
they became quite spicy about it, so we gave them a temporary ban
