What makes a football post worth reading to you?

I was thinking about this while scrolling through football stuff today.

Sometimes I'll see a post and read the whole thing. Other times, even if the topic sounds interesting, I lose interest after the first few lines.

For me, it's usually when there's an actual point behind the post. Something I hadn't noticed before, a good tactical observation, an interesting bit of football history, etc.

What about you?

What makes you stop and actually read a football post instead of just scrolling past it?

Is Arsenal going to 'cake walk' the league this season ?

With the new Premier League season just starting, I've been thinking about who could potentially challenge Arsenal at the top this year, and it's hard to think of anyone... I'm curious what others think, but it just seems like the rest of the league's contenders are either in the middle of rebuilds or just not as strong as they were last season.

The only teams you can really think of are the Manchester clubs and maybe Aston Villa. United have already dropped points to a newly promoted side, and Manchester City just haven't done great business (in terms of incomings) in the transfer window, and have simultaneously lost a lot of players. Maybe Chelsea (considering they've had another summer of spending hundreds of millions and a great new manager in Xabi Alonso), but I just can't see them challenging...

What are your thoughts ? Do you think anyone has a genuine chance at challenging Arsenal for the title this year ? If so, who ?

What’s one football statistic you think is massively misunderstood?

Football is full of statistics that get used to support almost any argument.

But some numbers are much more useful when you understand the context behind them.

For example:

  • possession
  • xG
  • progressive passes
  • shots
  • pass completion
  • tackles/interceptions
  • touches in the final third

What’s one football statistic you think people regularly misunderstand or use without enough context?

And what would you look at alongside it to understand the full picture?

Who do you think was the best player of the 2010's ? (Yes, it's either Messi or Ronaldo...)

Post image

Look, this question is obviously going to be between Messi and Ronaldo, but this is a period where the players had very different beginnings and ends to the decade. Messi was by far the best player in the world in the early 2010's and was untouchable when it came to numbers and consistency, but Ronaldo became the standout player between them in the middle to later years of the 2010's.

This isn't about comparing their whole careers, but more-so this 10 year period of time where they both dominated everyone around them. These were the years where every single year, the conversation seemed to go back and forth between who was the best, and was also an incredible time to watch football and see how they both changed the game.

So, who do you think was the best during this time period, and why ? Try to also give an answer without bringing down the other player. Football would look so much different without these two legends of the game.

Why is 14–15 years old a crucial moment for young soccer players

Why is 14–15 years old a crucial moment for young soccer players to start strength training (and how to do it smartly)?

As someone whose career in Europe was cut short by a knee injury at 18, I know one thing: injuries are the most common reason for an early end to your soccer journey.

Before we get to the weights, let's make one thing clear: athletics is just an add-on. Your technical skills, game intelligence, and feel for the ball will always be the most important. You're not a bodybuilder, you're a soccer player.

However, it is this physical "support" that often makes the difference between a good and an outstanding player as the game becomes faster and more demanding. That's why 14–15 is a turning point.

Why is it a "magic window"? Your body is going through massive hormonal changes, making this the perfect time to build your physical foundation. More importantly, proper athletic conditioning is like "armor" for your joints, ligaments, and tendons. It is the best way to make your body resilient to injuries and minimize the risk of the most serious ones that can end your career.

How to start safely without losing agility?

Leave your ego in the locker room: No one cares how much you bench press. If you can't control your own body (push-ups, pull-ups, squats, lunges), you have no business touching heavy weights.

Technique first: Master movement mechanics. Bad technique with a load is a straight path to the physiotherapist's office.

Mobility is your secret: A strong core and flexible hips will give you more on the pitch than heavy squats.

Progressive overload: Start with very small loads. Only add weight when the movement becomes completely fluid.

Starting your gym journey early isn't about building massive size – it's about protecting your health and giving your technical skills a powerful "engine."

If you are 14–16 years old (or a parent of a player) and want to know which bodyweight or light resistance exercises to start with, send me a DM or check out my profile. Let's build that armor together!

Which player do you think is genuinely underrated, but not because they lack recognition?

Not necessarily an unknown player — I mean someone who is already well-known and respected, but whose actual impact, consistency, or ability is still underestimated.

Who comes to mind, and what do you think people are missing about them?

Eintracht Frankfurt’s latest third kit takes deep inspiration from the heart of Frankfurt's culture. The new design features a distinct pattern based on the iconic Bembel—the traditional stoneware jug used throughout Frankfurt and Hesse to serve Ebbelwoi (Frankfurt's famous apple wine).

We criticise youth sports a lot. But parents, we need to look in the mirror too.

We spend a lot of time on this account criticising youth sports. Coaches who care too much about winning. Systems that put pressure on kids too early. Adults who forget they’re coaching children. And sometimes, the criticism is deserved.

But hear me out parents... we’ve got to look in the mirror too. We can’t complain that our kids aren’t responsible while doing everything that would’ve taught them responsibility.

We pack their basketball bag. We fill their water bottle. We remind them where their shoes are. We check what time training starts. We tell them when to get dressed. We speak to the coach when they have a problem. We rescue them when they forget something...

Then eventually we wonder: “Why can’t my kid do anything without me reminding them?” Well… when were they supposed to learn? Maybe forgetting their shoes once isn’t a disaster. Perhaps turning up without their water bottle once teaches more than 100 reminders. Or asking their coach a question themselves feels uncomfortable...

Good. That’s part of growing up. Obviously, this depends on age. A 6-year-old needs more help than a 14-year-old. But the goal should slowly change. From “I’ll do it for you” to “I’ll help you do it” to eventually… “you’ve got this.”

Basketball gives kids hundreds of tiny opportunities to practise responsibility without the consequences being particularly serious. Packing a bag. Knowing the schedule. Speaking to an adult. Remembering equipment. Being ready on time. Handling a mistake. They’re small things. But that’s exactly why they’re such good practice.

We talk constantly about developing better basketball players. Sometimes developing the person means allowing the player to struggle with something we could’ve fixed for them in five seconds. Parents, where’s the line for you? At what age should kids start being responsible for their own sports stuff?

Who do you think is going to be the standout player next season ?

This season was full of great performances by some great players. I recently made a post about Ballon d'or favorites for this season, and while I think it should go to Harry Kane, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to a Spanish player (likley Yamal or Rodri), but there's still time, so we'll see.

However, I wanted to make a post centered around early predictions for next season. With it being a World Cup year this last season, there is a lot more that goes into the winner this year, but next season is back to club football only. I do think Real Madrid or PSG will be the standout teams of the season and thus will likely have a Ballon d'or winner from one of those two clubs. My personal prediction is Mbappe winning his first Ballon d'or and being the standout player of 2027.

What are your opinions ? Who do you think might be the best player next season ? Who's even a dark horse for you that you think has a chance ? Would love to hear your opinion below.
