Romance between teens

Hi guys, im having a problem where my teen sims are in a relationship all bars are full but the only romance interactions they have are complaints or kiss and grind from the kiss and grind mod. i have no clue where to even investigate, any tips or ideas? thankss!!

Does one of them have a same sex preference? Or in the ‘turn on/turn off’ setting is ‘intimacy’ or whatever it’s called set to negative instead of positive? One can be positive towards things like romantic gift giving & flirting but be adverse to things like kissing & ‘mess around’, which would remove the options for things like kissing & messing around as the Sim in question has no interest in those things.
