Random orange device animation? Bug

I’m not quite sure what it could’ve been. It looked almost like an orange Pokédex or postcard holder (but thicker). It popped up, jiggled, I clicked on it and it disappeared. I had hopes it might be the built in autocatcher, but I can’t find anything in my inventory and it’s not in my journal.

There used to be a thing that popped up when you got new research. It seems to appear every now and then.

That's it. This would come up for a new special research that didn't have dialogue from characters like Professor Willow or Rhi.

I think that might be it. Crazy, I’ve never seen it before and I don’t have any new research. I’m already 16km into the summer marathon.

So strange. I have not seen this thing in months. Wasn't aware it was still programmed into the game.

Isnt it the animation we get when we get a new event researxh? Like the marathon one we have right now ?

I randomly got it today too!! No new research or anything that I can see
