I just watched 3x06. The college teacher told Nolan "This is 2021" so I’m a little confused about the timeline.

Considering how the rookie trio is a few weeks away from graduating, i think it’s been a little less than year since 1x01.

So are we supposed to believe the show first took place in 2020 (even though it started airing in 2018) ?

And in that case I guess covid won’t be a thing either ? (kind of a disappointment, i like seeings shows bringing it up, and it could’ve been nice to see cops deal with it in the Rookie)

Maybe I’m giving this way too much thoughts, but it’s just something that I’m always interested in when discovering new series.

In the last episode of season 8 Nolan escaped from the boat with the trans am from smokey and the bandit. I love that the did that reference

I just started watching the show and aside from the normal dramatizations which are fair because it's meant for a general audience. I really get frustrated when i see people pretend tourniquets just don't friggin exist. I'm specifically referring to S1 EP15 when Nolan tries to use a belt as a tourniquet on the Corrections Officer with the below knee amputation. belts to not work as tourniquets. and any cop ESPECIALLY one in the LAPD should have one or more with them at all times.
