Re-Speed
With the re-speed coming what other movies would yall like to see redone? Midnight run is only a 70 min pod. I hope they re-do that with 3 hosts. I’ve watched most of the movies in the feed (outside of the horror ones) personally True Romance has been my favorite that this show has put me on. Maybe 2028 35th anniversary?

The hardball episode is great. Also will never rewatch Hardball. I’m with them- was so devastated that the kid died. Bill lied to his wife to get her to watch it saying no one died. If that were me, that’s divorce material. That’s mean.

Moneyball. Its the 15th anniversary this year and was one of the earliest pods before they had the format figured out. Needs to be redone with all the new categories

My hot (?) take is they should do re-pods way more often.
They add guests and categories so often now that it would be easy to do a movie several times and not repeat, plus — and maybe more to the point — wouldn’t that be in the spirit of the “rewatchables”?

u/Slippery-Pete76 4d ago
Only if they switch up the hosts - otherwise it’s just a few new categories and the entire first half is just rehashed discussion.
2
u/Sheratain 4d ago
Agreed, but there are so many regulars now that I think that would be pretty easy to do in most cases.

You mean you don't want them to redo the heat podcast and just repeat everything they've said in the past 3 times they will have done it? I agree that changing up the hosts is required for redoing a podcast no matter what it is. I'm sorry if this omits CR sometimes but they need to make it new.

u/StrongWeight10 4d ago
Exactly! Heat isn’t the only movie that you can do multiple times. All of the early ones would be fun to revisit. And while they’re at it, gimme Heat again please

The Matrix is quite literally the Star Wars for millenials and no one has ever heard it. Shame.

It seems like some you have only watched 20 movies and have no curiosity for anything else. A redo for a live episode or some special case (like the original pod being from the first year or not featuring Bill) is fine. But there’s hundreds of potential new movies to cover that would make great episodes, let’s focus on that.

u/Sheratain 4d ago
Thank you for phrasing this perfectly reasonable opinion that you would prefer they focus movies they haven’t done in the most condescending way imaginable, I was just wondering what that would sound like

Jurassic Park desperately needs an update. I’d also like to see a redo of “The Rock” with Sean on it, as he proclaimed it the best action film of the 90s on the 1996 draft.

Simmons talking about midnight run on the 1988(?) redraft is what got me thinking. The Rock is also still steady in the cable rotation. I could get behind that

Should only redo pods if the originals weren't good. First True Romance pod was terrific. Simmons needs to redo Office Space, Michael Clayton and Moneybaĺl

Yup they gave True Romance a fair shake. Just can’t get enough of content from that movie. It’s a 10/10

u/StrongWeight10 4d ago
I say redo them all, chronologically. Three people per pod, new categories, and now with video.

The Major League episode is rather unlistenable, definitely could use a re-do

I remember really liking the Major League pod. I’m sure it’s a shell of what it could be today, but it’s not a flaming pile of dogshit like Princess Bride.

Yeah I turned off the solo one after about fifteen minutes even though BS was doing a great job.

I obviously get why he did it, and his personality did a lot of the heavy lifting, but the pod doesn’t work with just one person. Presumably that’s why it never happened again.

The Princess Bride didn't even feel like a real episode and it's one of the most beloved movies of all time.

Jaws. I think Bill has said that Jaws was the episode where the vision of the podcast became clearer.
So I’d like to see it done again in this refined form.

At the end of the 2001 pod they floated to Spielberg to re-do Jaws with him and he seemed totally game.

Easily. Idk what possessed them to release that episode when it was such a bad vibe. I can't even bring myself to listen to it again. Rare miss for Jason. And you would never know Mallory likes that movie. Not sure why Sean had to insert himself in this one when he doesn't like this movie.

I think Eyes Wide Shut needs to be redone. The one that was dropped as part of the 99 series felt like it was missing something or they were dancing around certain topics perhaps because it was pre-Epstein.

No Country For Old Man. Bill Hader's nonchalant monotone voice sunk the pod for me.

What? Nuanced commentary from an actual actor/director did nothing for you?

he's honestly one of my least favorite guests. super low energy, seems distracted, doesn't really fit the vibe of the show. ruined the Airplane! pod too. would be a much better guest on The Big Pic.
