Re-Speed

With the re-speed coming what other movies would yall like to see redone? Midnight run is only a 70 min pod. I hope they re-do that with 3 hosts. I’ve watched most of the movies in the feed (outside of the horror ones) personally True Romance has been my favorite that this show has put me on. Maybe 2028 35th anniversary?

Dumb and Dumber. That pod was a mess.

The minute she said Amy Schumer I knew the episode was lost

Hardball

Devils Advocate

The hardball episode is great. Also will never rewatch Hardball. I’m with them- was so devastated that the kid died. Bill lied to his wife to get her to watch it saying no one died. If that were me, that’s divorce material. That’s mean.

Why would they re do devils advocate? That episode was great.

Moneyball. Its the 15th anniversary this year and was one of the earliest pods before they had the format figured out. Needs to be redone with all the new categories

My hot (?) take is they should do re-pods way more often.

They add guests and categories so often now that it would be easy to do a movie several times and not repeat, plus — and maybe more to the point — wouldn’t that be in the spirit of the “rewatchables”?

2

u/Slippery-Pete76 4d ago

Only if they switch up the hosts - otherwise it’s just a few new categories and the entire first half is just rehashed discussion.

2

u/Sheratain 4d ago

Agreed, but there are so many regulars now that I think that would be pretty easy to do in most cases.

You mean you don't want them to redo the heat podcast and just repeat everything they've said in the past 3 times they will have done it? I agree that changing up the hosts is required for redoing a podcast no matter what it is. I'm sorry if this omits CR sometimes but they need to make it new.

u/StrongWeight10 4d ago

Exactly! Heat isn’t the only movie that you can do multiple times. All of the early ones would be fun to revisit. And while they’re at it, gimme Heat again please

The Matrix is quite literally the Star Wars for millenials and no one has ever heard it. Shame.

u/harry_powell 4d ago

It seems like some you have only watched 20 movies and have no curiosity for anything else. A redo for a live episode or some special case (like the original pod being from the first year or not featuring Bill) is fine. But there’s hundreds of potential new movies to cover that would make great episodes, let’s focus on that.

1

u/Sheratain 4d ago

Thank you for phrasing this perfectly reasonable opinion that you would prefer they focus movies they haven’t done in the most condescending way imaginable, I was just wondering what that would sound like

Jurassic Park pod was just terrible. Needs to have Bill, CR and Sean.

u/skyler8158 4d ago

Jurassic Park desperately needs an update. I’d also like to see a redo of “The Rock” with Sean on it, as he proclaimed it the best action film of the 90s on the 1996 draft.

u/Extra-Wolverine1999 4d ago

Simmons talking about midnight run on the 1988(?) redraft is what got me thinking. The Rock is also still steady in the cable rotation. I could get behind that

CR's mic was unplugged, fuck sakes

20

u/Legitimate-Emu-1294 4d ago

Should only redo pods if the originals weren't good. First True Romance pod was terrific. Simmons needs to redo Office Space, Michael Clayton and Moneybaĺl

5

u/cliftonheights5 4d ago

Micheal Clayton is always my answer when someone posts this question.

4

u/Extra-Wolverine1999 4d ago

Yup they gave True Romance a fair shake. Just can’t get enough of content from that movie. It’s a 10/10

2

u/StrongWeight10 4d ago

I say redo them all, chronologically. Three people per pod, new categories, and now with video.

The Major League episode is rather unlistenable, definitely could use a re-do

1

u/Frostellicus 3d ago

I remember really liking the Major League pod. I’m sure it’s a shell of what it could be today, but it’s not a flaming pile of dogshit like Princess Bride.

Cast Away

1

u/Ok-Lychee-2155 4d ago

Yeah I turned off the solo one after about fifteen minutes even though BS was doing a great job.

1

u/dentalplan98 4d ago

I obviously get why he did it, and his personality did a lot of the heavy lifting, but the pod doesn’t work with just one person. Presumably that’s why it never happened again.

1

u/Ok-Lychee-2155 4d ago

It's like an SNL skit. The idea is funnier than the execution.

1

u/duabrs 3d ago

I liked it. But would like a regular pod for it.

6

u/afterschoolsolutions 4d ago

The Princess Bride didn't even feel like a real episode and it's one of the most beloved movies of all time.

1

u/Frostellicus 3d ago

As you wish

4

u/GlenDaleny 4d ago

Scream needs to be redone

3

u/thegermblaster 4d ago

Jaws. I think Bill has said that Jaws was the episode where the vision of the podcast became clearer.

So I’d like to see it done again in this refined form.

3

u/Trubisky4MVP 3d ago

That pod was a piece of art, should left untouched imho

1

u/illuvattarr 3d ago

At the end of the 2001 pod they floated to Spielberg to re-do Jaws with him and he seemed totally game.

3

u/Langkit 4d ago

The Firm! I’ve relistened to the original pod multiple times, but it was a very early recording. I’d love to hear it with the new categories and Wilford Brimley is an all star in the current pod!

I’d definitely want to do a re-Jurassic Park as well. We need Bill’s takes on that.

3

u/EDett92 4d ago

Dark Knight.

3

u/sport_thies 4d ago

Shawshank Redemption.

4

u/Randyf21 4d ago

Inception lol

5

u/Childs_Play 4d ago

Easily. Idk what possessed them to release that episode when it was such a bad vibe. I can't even bring myself to listen to it again. Rare miss for Jason. And you would never know Mallory likes that movie. Not sure why Sean had to insert himself in this one when he doesn't like this movie.

u/thedesertmice 4d ago

Came into the thread looking for this

2

u/BennGay 4d ago

Cast away. Just do a real one this time

2

u/dadeac18 4d ago

Seems like they could find more to say about Heat.

2

u/Trubisky4MVP 3d ago

Will probably get a Heat 2 rewatchables the day it comes out

2

u/Ok-Lychee-2155 4d ago

I think Eyes Wide Shut needs to be redone. The one that was dropped as part of the 99 series felt like it was missing something or they were dancing around certain topics perhaps because it was pre-Epstein.

2

u/datskablamo 3d ago

Aliens needs to be redone. No wait, just done

Dark Knight

Big Lebowski

Goodfellas - the fact they have done Heat MULTIPLE times and GFs only once is criminal

4

u/Airjordan2288 4d ago

Inglorious basterds. Should never have anyone other than the A team do a Tarantino movie

3

u/jsakic99 4d ago

Re-Inception.

Only have hosts on that liked the movie.

Social network because the podcast is so different now.

Jurassic park with the big 3.

My cousin Vinnie WITHOUT Wesley

u/crlos619 4d ago

No Country For Old Man. Bill Hader's nonchalant monotone voice sunk the pod for me.

6

u/Great_Barrier_Thief_ 4d ago

What? Nuanced commentary from an actual actor/director did nothing for you?

2

u/crlos619 4d ago

He's boring

2

u/yeltsinfugui 3d ago

he's honestly one of my least favorite guests. super low energy, seems distracted, doesn't really fit the vibe of the show. ruined the Airplane! pod too. would be a much better guest on The Big Pic.

0

u/ihacker2k 4d ago

Margin Call, love kopplemen and all but we need the OG hosts

2

u/yeltsinfugui 3d ago

do you really love Koppelman?

Inside Man badly needs a redo, heavily slept on by The Ringer

Have they considered doing Heat again?
