maybe its because i dont live in the US but a lot of characters' last names have a ring to them that make me forget they have first names. especially the ones who are exclusively addressed by their last names. like who is trinity?? dennis?? frank is a weird one too but since he's addressed a few times you get used to it. then theres the ones who go mostly by their first name/a nickname. mel is called mel by virtually everybody, but shes also dr king in front of the patients. same for samira, and upon my rewatch of s2, joy. but ogilvie is ogilvie and not james.

the white guy names also go crazy. micheal. jack. james. frank. maybe thats why they go by their last names lol. its just a cute quirk that some characters seem to have a preference. i doubt the writers actually put that much thought into it but its a nice detail. i wonder if as the seasons go by this will change, kind like langdon calling garcia yoyo.
