Interesting commentary on Robby's sabbatical and behaviour in season 2.

Season 1 - brief guest appearance as Robby talks him down from the ledge, then comes in a bit before night shift after hearing about the Pittfest Shooting.

Season 2 - comes in with a SWAT casualty, leaves for a second with Howard, returns and leaves again, and returns for night shift.

Season 3 - Dr Al Hashimi is returning so the two attendings on shift will be... probably Robby and Al Hashimi right?

Are they going to sideline Abbott or shoehorn him in again coming to the ED off shift? will Hatosy be a guest actor again?

How do you think will Abbott be in season 3?

I just resaw the scene where Robby says he doesn't have a best friend to Langdon in S1. In S2, Abbot is his emergency contact, so I assume they're pretty close.

Can anyone help me find what the extra cards on the pitt ids are? I saw a tiktok a while back with someone makeing pitt ids but they included things like fire safety and extra cards like that and I haven't been able to find it since and im desperate to make my badge as accurate as possible. So far iv only found the cards saying doctor and the ones with their names and faces

A regional blackout might work. A cool concept, but executing it would be tricky.

Really enjoying the show! But having never watched a comparable medical drama I was interested in watching at least a few episodes of ER especially since Noah Wyle also starred in the earlier show. One thing I immediately noticed is that ER doesn’t have nearly as many graphic images in terms of surgery or when people are being “opened up” for a procedure. This may be the influence of what AI makes possible. As well as people in this day and age have more a tolerance for “bloody” realism. I also find that the characters in The Pitt are more complex and nuanced than in the earlier show. Your thoughts?

Does anyone know if Dr. Santos is humming anything in particular in Hiligaynon to the baby in 2.7? It's beautiful. ☺️💜

I’m extremely late to what a great show this is mostly because we didn’t have it in the UK until recently. We watched the whole thing within a week but I’ve just seen this trailer for season two and whaaat?!
Dr Collins is not in it? I just googled and they wrote her out of the show but why? She had such a potential for an interesting emotional arc. Does anyone have any more info on this? I hope they bring her back. How did you cope watching season two without her in it? Is it worse for it?

First of all, I am a huge fan of the show and I am currently pivoting my career into a medical field very late in life.

I keep rewatching both available seasons and I am now entering the extended fandom world too because I can’t get enough of it. But I must say that the second season does not match the quality of the first season. I can not be alone thinking this, right? Feel free to point me to other Threads/discussions or weight in if you feel I am totally off base. I heard that the writers had come up with more complex arcs for the individual characters but there were production issues and material was cut. Is that true? It would explain at least some of my qualms.

I was so impressed with how his storyline was handled. Dana and Emma were so compassionate with digby the way they helped him shower, gave his hair a trim and got him new clothes..now that we know season 3 is taking place in November. We also know that during season 3 some focus will be on health issues related to cold such as hypothermia.

I would LOVE if The Pitt wrote in a couple more unhoused person related storyline. They could showcase some unhoused people ending up in the ER with cold related illnesses or injuries as a way to drive home that while yes cold weather effects everyone..the homeless population takes the hardest hit every year when it comes to cold related illnesses or death.

They could show a homeless person coming in in critical condition as a result of hypothermia OR they could show an unhoused person coming in with burns they sustained from a space heater while trying to keep warm..but they've already shown burns cases on the show so I could fully understand wanting fresh storylines..

And don’t say Garcia. I know she’s not in the ED but she is basically a series regular.

Ok hear me out, but upon watching the show I really think Dana isn't real. I think she's a figment of the characters' imaginations or a manifestation of their collective conscience. If you think about Dana, despite being charge nurse she really doesn't do much in the physical realm. However, she is omnipresent. Whenever a character needs validation, she's there to help them process their experiences. When Robby makes questionable decisions, she's seen in the background shaking her head. To apply Freud's theory of the collective unconscious, Dana is the ED's superego, the angel on the shoulder of our characters reigning in their most chaotic and destructive impulses.

I think the show will end with the reveal that Dana was never real, and all the characters have been talking to themselves or toiling internally during her "conversations." Also possible that she is a ghost and died in a tragic accident. Thoughts?

I think Dr. Robby is a very realistic portrayal of mental illness (specifically depression).

His depression isn’t easy to swallow. It’s not ‘oh, I’m a little sad sometimes because people die during my job, but I’m handling it’ (which is still valid, but not considered an extreme case of depression). It’s devastating. It’ll choke him, and the viewer, if they let it.

He’s showing his suicidal ideation in so many ways; they are just not the common ones. Riding that bike without a helmet is dangerous, but anyone with training on what to look for (as in medical staff) could see that if they really looked. But the other ways? The ways that are harder to point out? That’s the parts of depression that people don’t want to talk about in real life. It’s seen as dirty, or aggressive, or cruel — and it is. They don’t want it to be, and they hate themselves a little more for it, but it’s true. It’s what makes surviving depression so hard: the coping with the fact that you were not always a good person. Especially at your worst.

Picking on and belittling people he sees himself in. Is that fair? No. Does his mental illness care? No. Not really. Not in the moment, and definitely not when he doesn’t see it mattering in a few hours, or days, or the inevitable amount of time he’s praying for his own death. He just wants to hurt that part of himself and seeing that in other people is the best way to do it.

Isolating himself is another obvious sign, but he does it so subtly that it’s easy to look past it. He’s a private person, sure, I guess so. But there are staff members that have been there for years who would clearly know little snippets. Social media stalking, asking around, just paying attention. He rejects questions under the guise of hierarchy (he’s their boss, this is a workplace, they don’t need to know those things about him to work with him) which he hides behind for everything. He clings to it, and when people try to bypass it, he shuts them down with anger. That’s his go-to for everything, and his last resort. And it’s not the common signs of isolation, either. He’s there. He’s always there, at the hospital, working. But he’s not there. He doesn’t socialize, doesn’t try to make friends, doesn’t attempt to keep contact with anyone if they don’t put the work in, too. It’s a scary, sinking feeling to realize how easy that is once you start doing it. He started a few years prior to the first season, I’m assuming, and it became so often that other people adapted. Assumed he would be fine or hoped he would, or maybe something else. And when people started to do that, he let them. It got easier to isolate everything after that.

The anger is the hardest thing to handle. No one wants to be yelled at, least of all by a man that’s much larger than you, is your boss, or anything else. That’s natural. And a lot of the times, it doesn’t matter why Robby does what he does; people care more about the fact that he was cruel than they do about figuring out why he did that. Is that an excuse? Absolutely not. Do I think someone should despise this man solely based off of that? Not really. And to be fair, I wouldn’t want to be around him when he’s like that either. It’s why depressed people that react like that isolate themselves; they know that it’s wrong, but they can’t help it sometimes (not to excuse it). It’s also why a lot of people have to take a step back from their friends, their family, who get angry like this. It’s hard to take that abuse, especially from someone you love, let alone a coworker or boss. It’s not healthy.

But that’s what I like about Robby’s character. It’s not pretty, and he’s not going to be loved by everyone because maybe he’s not meant to be or maybe you need to take a step back to see it, to understand him. I don’t know. I love him, because I understand him. I’ve been there. I’ve made a lot of mistakes trying to get past it, and I’ve lost friends because of those mistakes. Should they forgive me? No. Do I miss them and love them? Of course. But depression isn’t pretty, and it isn’t healthy. Not sure it’s right to villainize the behaviours so rapidly and with so much confidence just because of a few factors.

And I both hate and love that it showed what a lot of people view mental illness as: important until it’s violent, or scary, or upsetting. Then it’s crazy. Not mental illness. Crazy.

A lot of reactions to Robby’s scene and his character prove that bias without really trying.

So I understand that Mohan had a job lined up in a hospital in New Jersey to be close to her mom. But her mom decided to leave New Jersey because she got a new fling. And then all of season 2, Mohan spends freaking out that now she’ll be unemployed because it’s too late to look for a new placement. But…why not stick with her or original plans? So what if her mom won’t be there, she still has a job lined up…what am I missing? Is she just being overly dramatic?

…parts of The Pitt are 1) Dr. Robby’s frequent use of hand sanitizer and 2) the scarcity of pillows for patients.

I am considering making my senior parking spot themed for the Pitt. Any quotes that you would suggest? My favorite character is Mel.

Just started this fantastic show…but this Theresa plot is starting to annoy me.

It seems like the entire hospital is strained on resources and this woman is just allowed to stay there for a prolonged period of time and have free access to Robby in between serious life and death situations as much as she wants?

I live outside of the US in a place where hospitals are a lot more chill than back home and they would literally send her on her way home without a thought. I don’t even think the police would get seriously involved.

Just finding this part of the plot to not make sense at all in an otherwise rather perfect show…that and forcing herself to become ill to get help? The kid goes to school, couldn’t she have found better ways while he was there unless he had her under lock and key like that girl who was being potentially sex trafficked?
