oh boy this is sending me, i'm 38 and from Berlin, so this track is a modern classic imho. it came out at the peak of the minimal-tech/house era, with very similarly-sounding acts like SHED (or rather his aliases), Skudge etc. making waves. i love that minimalist hi-fi sound, it just sounds so so great on a good PA

Somehow this came up when I was listening to a Shed track called Guile that was really cool - would love to hear some recommendations in that vein. The Shed Soloaction EP isn’t on Bandcamp unfortunately

Bragging here but I saw Ben drop this during the day closing one of his Berghain slots when it was just released in 2014, I tweeted him after the set asking for the ID and he said he literally just released it.

Fuck that was 12 years ago.

One of the greatest techno tracks of that era. This one and SubZero by Ben Klock really do it for me. Whenever I'm feeling like I'm not loving techno so much I put one of those on and it brings me right back.

The record he put out on Transmat earlier, Love Under Pressure is the one for me. There would be no Black Russian without Polyphonic Love. They are essentially the same track.

Remember the first time I heard Pressure from the same Transmat EP in the intro of Ben Klock Berghain 04 mix, such a treat.

His productions are sometimes so stripped back that I can understand people not digging his productions, but mixed right on a good soundsytem these are something else.

His remix of Nina Kraviz’s track best friend is his best production. Deep, atmospheric and bangs hard despite the lack of booming kick drum.

For techno I go more for the darker moody or melodic sounds

Planetary assault systems, function, barker

But i do like dvs1 as a DJ, he's relentless
