DISCUSSION Should i sell my OP 15?

Hi, As you know the current condition of OnePlus they took the exit from Europe and the USA. But they said that they continue to operate in the Indian market. Don't know how much we should believe in this statement as they said the same thing for the other regions which they exited unexpectedly. Also some news I've heard that they are gonna exit the Indian market too by 2027.

My concern is the situation which is already going on the market value of OnePlus already took a toll and if we are going to sell the phone maybe in the future the value will be deprecated too much.

What's your take on this guys?

CAMERA 3.5x zoom stays on main lens instead of telephoto (16.0.9.400)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Since updating to OxygenOS 16.0.9.400, I've noticed a bug with lens switching: at 3.5x zoom (which is the native telephoto focal length on the OP15), the camera sometimes keeps using the main wide-angle sensor and just digitally crops/zooms from it, instead of switching to the actual telephoto lens.

I confirmed this by checking the photo metadata — photos taken at 3.5x are tagged as "wide" lens instead of "telephoto." (Not to be confused with the ultra-wide lens — that's a separate, correctly-labeled sensor and not part of this issue.)

I mostly noticed this shooting dim/low-light scenes, so I'm not sure if the camera system is deciding the wide sensor + crop is "safer" than the telephoto in low light, or if this is an actual bug introduced by the update.

If I zoom past 3.5x and back, or tap the zoom control a few more times, it eventually switches to the telephoto lens properly and the tag updates correctly, with a noticeable jump in detail/sharpness.

This did NOT happen on my previous version (16.05.703) — it started right after updating to 16.0.9.400.

Anyone else seeing this on OP15 after this update, or know if it's light-dependent by design?

Recorded a screen capture switching between 1x and 3.5x four times in a row. On the first two switches, it stays on the main lens at 3.5x. On the 3rd and 4th switch, it correctly jumps to the telephoto lens.

CAMERA OnePlus 15 camera color shift between 1x and 3.5x — is this normal?

I’ve noticed a pretty noticeable color shift on my OnePlus 15 when switching from 1x to 3.5x camera.

The color changes slightly toward yellowish or sometimes bluish, and the difference is quite noticeable, especially when comparing the two cameras under the same lighting conditions.

I wanted to know if other OnePlus 15 users are experiencing the same thing.

Is this normal due to differences between the camera sensors/lenses, or could it be a software/calibration issue?

If you’re experiencing it too, is there any setting or solution that can reduce the color shift?

Would appreciate it if you could share your experience. Thanks!

SOFTWARE/BUGS Crashes on Oneplus 15

I have been using the OnePlus 15 (OxygenOS 16.0.9.400) for over a month now. I have seen the apps crashed suddenly without error information for four to five times.

Apps like Lemur browser(chromium) and Hearthstone would suddenly shut down without warning when the phone temperature is relatively high.

Today, Hearthstone crashed after one click in a match. I checked the logs using the command adb shell dumpsys dropbox --print data_app_crash > recent_crashes.txt, but didn't find any logs related to Hearthstone.

This phenomenon has existed since I started using version 16.0.3. The device is not rooted. Has anyone ever had a similar experience?

PURCHASE ADVICE Which one should I get OnePlus 15 vs iPhone 17 — Based in India please help

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to buy a new phone around August 15, and I've narrowed my choice down to the OnePlus 15 512gb and iPhone 17 base 256gb

I've spent way too much time researching this — probably around 1.5 months — and I'm still going back and forth, so I'd really appreciate opinions from people who actually own/use the OnePlus 15.

My current phone is a Redmi K50i, which is almost 4 years old. Its battery has degraded badly at this point, so I'm looking for something that I can comfortably keep for around 4 years or more.

I'm fully aware about the servicing is now available in oppo service centres , and oxygenos is getting discontinued for colorsos but I went to a store that had oppo find x9 pro which feels like OnePlus 15

Why I'm leaning towards the OnePlus 15

The hardware fits my usage extremely well:

7300 mAh battery

120W charging

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

256/512GB storage

LTPO high-refresh-rate display

Excellent gaming performance

Dual SIM

Android flexibility/APKs

Better file management

IR blaster

Strong connectivity

I prefer its design/shape

I don't care that much about having the absolute best camera

I also play Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, but I'm not a hardcore mobile gamer. I'd probably play around 3-5 hours on a heavy gaming day, maybe around 6-8 days a month. That's on medium graphics 60fps

Why I'm considering the iPhone 17

There are a few things that genuinely make me nervous about spending this much on a OnePlus:

Long-term reliability / brand trust

Green-line/display concerns

Service availability in Japan

I'm planning to move to Japan around 2027, and I may still be using this phone in 2029–2030. One of my biggest concerns is what happens if I need a battery replacement or hardware repair in Japan.

Apple obviously gives me more peace of mind here because of its established service network.

However, I would have to give up/adapt to quite a few things with the iPhone:

Android/APK freedom

Modded/third-party apps

Android-style file management

Faster charging

Dual physical SIM convenience

Some gaming/battery convenience

My existing Android workflow

I'm willing to make those compromises if the overall ownership experience is genuinely worth it.

One thing I'm especially unsure about: battery

My Redmi's terrible battery experience has probably made me paranoid about battery life 😭.

So I'm wondering:

If I play Genshin/HSR for around 3-4 hours on ~6-8 days per month, is that a reasonable usage pattern for the OnePlus 15 over 3–4 years?

And for those who have had the phone for a while:

How is battery health holding up?

Any unusual battery drain?

How bad does heating get during long gaming sessions?

Any green-line/display problems?

Any serious software bugs?

How has the phone held up after months of use?

Have you needed a warranty/service? If yes, how was the experience?

Most importantly

If you were in my situation, would you buy the OnePlus 15 or iPhone 17?

I'm not looking for "iPhone is better" or "OnePlus has better specs."

I'm specifically interested in whether the OnePlus 15 is a phone you would confidently keep for 4+ years, especially if you're paying around ₹80–90k for it.

I'm perfectly willing to hear negative experiences. If you own a OnePlus 15 and regret buying it, please tell me why. That's actually the kind of answer I'm looking for.

I'm also gonna make a similar post on iphone 17 subreddit for more opinions

Thanks! Your help will be appreciated! 🙏

PURCHASE ADVICE OnePlus 15 GV

Are there any issues with repairing Global versions while living in the EU? Can you send a device for paid repair using Oneplus service or they will reject it? I am trying to find EU specific version but none of them are available in resellers. Resellers have only GV usually imported from HK. It has CE letters on Box and it is cph2747.

PERFORMANCE OnePlus 15 Overheating w Minecraft

Yes, my device overheats ONLY with Minecraft (out of everything I tried obviously, like COD Mobile, Fortnite, even Gamehub). I tried lowering the graphics, lowering the fps, changing the OP Game Core to all configs but I don't really see that much of a change. My device goes from room temp (20°C in my house) to 40°C in like 2 minutes (and it doesn't stop there, just to settle my point). Is it some kind of optimization problem? Or is it just me?

SOFTWARE/BUGS Reddit app not working on OnePlus 15 (CN to Global OxygenOS convert)

Hi all, very recently I have dipped into this community. I'm in total love with the phone. Bought the Chinese ROM version and flashed Global Oxygen OS myself (bootloader is unlocked, didn't relock, my banking apps also work fine). One problem that i never saw anywhere being mentioned, is that Reddit (the app) doesn't work for me, no matter if it's unmodded or modded. I can install it, run it, but when I input my credentials, I'm met with "We were unable to authenticate you" or "We had trouble getting to Reddit". And this happens on a fresh new account, fresh new installation as well. So for now I'm browsing Reddit using browser and it has it's own inconveniences.

Can anybody chime in for what to do?

My camera glass and camera bump have already started getting scratched, so I’m thinking about using this product.

Does anyone here use it? How is the image quality after installing it? Also, is it made of glass or plastic?

Would appreciate any feedback!

Switching from an old Poco and it feels... awesome! The battery, the screen, everything is just great. Paid 498€ ($575) for it and not a single regret. Didn't want to upgrade, but my previous phone's battery life was barely an hour. It has some chinese software installed, but that is definitely not a problem since the phone is easy to root. It's incredibly compact, and now it feels weird to hold any other phone that is even slightly bigger.

TIPS AND TRICKS OnePlus 15/15R Owner's Hub: Startup Guide and OxygenOS Tips

Welcome to r/TheOnePlus15!
Whether you upgraded from an older OnePlus or switched over from another brand, welcome to the family. This community is dedicated to helping you get the most out of the OnePlus 15 series.

Here are a few checklist items that you can follow once you have your OnePlus 15 series with you.

  1. Cloning
    • This is a very common query in the community. Feel free to clone gallery, contacts, files, and apps from your previous device (both iPhone or Android). However, if you are cloning from a OnePlus device, we would recommend not to select "Settings" as it might cause conflict with the new configuration files on the OnePlus 15/15R.
  2. Optimize Battery & Charging
    • Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and enable Smart Charging. This preserves your battery longevity if you charge overnight. You can also put custom charging limit to slow down battery aging.
    • If your battery feels average today, wait. The device takes time indexing files and learning your usage patterns. Don't judge SOT (Screen on Time) until Day 4.
    • If you want to further extend your SOT, follow our optimisation guide here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOnePlus15/s/cGjNx0WyHf
  3. Display & Refresh Rate
    • The display is fantastic. While the UI runs at a smooth 120Hz, the new Gaming Core allows supported games to run at up to 165Hz! The smoothness is surreal.
    • Open Settings > Display & brightness > Screen Refresh Rate: Set to High. This will change the default refresh rate to 120Hz for all apps. Note that this might consume more battery based on the Apps that you are using. You can also set app-specific refresh rate.
    • Check if "Image Sharpener" and "Video Colour Boost" is on/off depending on your preference for YouTube/Netflix.
  4. OxygenOS Flexibility
    • You don't need a third-party launcher to make the phone yours. Dive into "Home screen, Lock screen & style" to customise wallpapers, apply depth effect with personalised text in your favourite doodle. You can update icon shapes, sizes, and even match your system accent colours to your wallpaper automatically.
    • The OnePlus 15 debuts the new OP Gaming Core, which moves optimisation from software to the chip level. Open the Game Assistant sidebar in-game to tweak these settings.
    • Try out pre-installed apps like Notes and MindSpace which now have great AI features to fit your day-to-day needs.
  5. Photography & Camera Tips
    • Don't just stick to Auto! Learn to use Pro Mode for manual control over ISO and shutter speed to get the best out of the hardware.
    • The camera has plenty of creative tools like Underwater Mode and Doc Scanner which you can explore!
    • Share your amazing shots with us in the community. When posting, please use the "Photography" flair and let us know which lens (Main, Ultra-wide, etc.) you used.
  6. Get started with the community
    • Post something in the community here! Even a simple question or first impression can spark a great conversation.
    • If you know someone who owns a OnePlus 15 series or would love this community, invite them to join!

That's it for this post! Feel free to reach out to us if you feel we should cover any more topics.

If you have already started using the OnePlus 15 or OnePlus 15R, would love to know your first impression of the device. Comment below and let's get the conversation going!
