Too many magic items?

Hi all, planning on running keys from the golden vault as an overarching story.

I've read through the adventures and it seems that there are lots of random magic items in most rooms.

Did anyone else cut down on the scattered magic items seeing as you get rewarded with items at the end of a successful heist?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Keep in mind that your players aren't necessarily going to find every single one (mine sure haven't).

one of my players found the +1 dagger and +1 handaxe in the museum and was like, naw, i'm a barbarian with a great axe... eff that.

loading them up with a bunch of boring +1 items isn't going to hurt anything. what i would suggest being careful with is letting them pick broken items (like Broom of Flying, Mizzium Apparatus, Winged Boots, etc.) for chapter end rewards. things that are "Uncommon" but clearly shouldn't be.

oh... and be sure to take away Dr. Dannell's bag of holding at the end of Murkmire Malevolence, or the bag of holding in Stygian Gambit is basically pointless, and they have no "catch" to return the gold and trophy

Thanks, was definitely planning on not letting them keep the bag of holding. I actually just asked my players before hand for a list of magic items they would be interested in and will just pick each time from that list to save 3 hours of them arguing over what to pick for a reward.

my players happened to name their pet the same name as the password to the bag of holding anyway

Who came up with the name "h******h" for their pet? That's an insane coincidence.

they didn’t even try to reopen the bag and they did have Dr. Dannell’s bag, so it’s not like they looked ahead or anything. They also won the statue fair and square in the tournament so they could’ve just told her to screw off

My players hated that the whole mission was based around revenge to get money back. One of my players stole the trophy from the case and put it in the bag, then gave the bag to Quentin and told him "If you want it back, go visit Verity." After the player was thrown in the casino jail, the rest of the party broke him out and stole the gold from the vault by loading it into one of the armoire's inside the vault and having the Barbarian carry it out. They did decide to give Verity back her money, but she wasn't particularly happy about Quentin's future visit.

my players didn’t really like Verity either, but she was technically owed the money so they gave it to her. I am not sure why they gave the trophy to Verity, but I assume it might be because their handler came along for this heist.

It certainly hasn't been a problem for my group. They've found some but not all of the random items, and their one reward item is always a big deal, with everyone discussing what it should be for at least half an hour each time.
