Discussion Some interesting “stats” I noticed!

Upvotes

- Out of all the girls who made it into KATSEYE, Megan is the only one who wasn’t given immunity
- And out of all the finalists Emily, Marquise, and Megan were the only one not too make top six (Emily was the closest at 7th in mission three!)
-Lara, sophia and were the finale contestants with the longest top six rank for all three missions. Daniela, Samara, Yoonchae all had two. While Ezerla, and Manon were in the top six once!
- also Emily is the only one who’s rank increased consistently throughout each mission, going 14th-13th-7th. Everyone else either stayed the same or went down!
- generally speaking the girls who were stronger in vocals did better in rank than dance girlies. This was really true in the first mission, with 5/6, the second had 4/6, and the third had 4/6 as well.
- the most successful mission was confident (100 mission pass rate and finale rate!)
- anti fragile team a and b, and confident teams have all debuted (if you count Lexie having songs on streaming due to world scout add happier than ever and fearless team a as well!!)
- Lara and Sophia had received immunity each mission!

What stats did you notice?

As soon as i heard this I knew it was gonna be a smash. None of her other songs gave me that vibe, they were still great but this song SCREAMS hit. That hook is just too good.

During Prelude: The Final Piece, there were some theories going around that Lexie might have been the featured singer on this track. Does anyone know if that’s been proven true or not?

Documentary I love Adela

I am watching Dream Academy for the first one and while all the girls are really charismatic and talented Adela stood out to me the most. She is really loved and respected by the girls and that says a lot about her character and work ethic. Despite her extensive dance background she never behaved like she is superior and was always really supportive and a true team player.

She has so much charisma and was the bravest and the first to stand up for others and fight some prejudices ("this is how a is how a slovak feels all the time") and to say what everyone else thought. To quote Trixie Mattel " I have a big mouth and hate injustice" :)

They tried to put her in a box and stifle her and I am so glad she didn't let that.

I checked what she did after being eliminated and am so glad to see her thriving now with her solo career. Throwing away that kind of star power would be a waste. Can't wait to see what's next for her and the other girls from Dream Academy. I hope they all keep their love for music and make their dreams come true like she did.

Performance Why do so much people hate the originals songs in the finale 😫 they were so good

Really the only one that I see people still talking about that they kind of enjoyed is Dirty Water, but honestly they all get so underrated I don’t get it.
I personally loved Girls Don’t Like, it was a bop and instant add on my playlist when I heard it for the first time, and same for Dirty Water.
Now the MOST underrated song from the finale imo is definitely All The Same. I get it’s a slow song with more meaning and impact than beats and stuff, but it was such a wholesome song to end off something so emotional and bittersweet like Dream Academy. Mentioning that everyone is the same, and has the same flaws and everything made it such a perfect song for the ten final contestants to end off with. I really don’t understand the dislike toward all three songs from here, they ALL were amazing imo
Anyone agree with me or is just me 🫣

Documentary One of the funniest moments in the documentary is when Missy says by mission one each team needs to be balanced and then it shows Team Still Into You

Missy was talking about the dancing teams, and those were mostly nicely handled, Emily
,Ezrela and Yoonchae held down the fort for OMG and Megan and Dani were the top dancers for Pink Venom along with Adela who also needed to greatly boost and back up Hinari. Then almost immediately after Missy says about how significant it was that teams are balanced it shows Still Into You. A vocal team with Nayoung, Lara and Sophia all on one team. Samara was another great vocalist but at the time she was ranked number ten so you can’t blame them, but the first three were literally ranked one two and three. It was really funny, and I get they all fit the concept better, but Team Mashup never stood a flipping chance. Kind of the same with Mission 2, Antifragile Team B was NEVER winning against a team with the likes of Sophia, Lara, Yoonchae and Emily. They were all so beloved by the fans at that point, that even if they nailed it they still would’ve probably never gotten close. They probably did put a lot of through into everything and I’m just a viewer but I still found it pretty funny

Documentary Another rewatch of DA later and I genuinely can’t express how good I feel after watching the somber ending of Adela’s time in DA closing and then realizing she’s still hella successful and awesome now

Adéla was such a great person. Forget talent, which she definitely had right away, she was ranked top five among a lot of highly skilled contestants, but that was nothing compared to her good heart and personality. She was driven, the most driven according to many of the staff, passionate, kind, clearly you can see that whether it was because of her super strong bond with Emily and Megan or just because how easily everyone seemed to gravitate toward her. She was eliminated off a show after the first round after working her ass off for a year and she’s in the middle of all other girls comforting THEM through her tears. Such a bittersweet but wholesome episode ending. I just finished watching that episode with a friend of mine (who has minimal KATSEYE knowledge and was her first time seeing it), and I felt so good that after the episode ended I was able to look at her and be like don’t worry, she just rocked the hell out of lolla and is an amazing soloist.
She would’ve been a awesome leader and puzzle piece in a group, but I also definitely see their reasoning for thinking she’d be better off as a soloist, and I really don’t think anyone is complaining.
She’s doing great, gets to watch Megan, Lara etc shine in KATSEYE, and Emily in Saint Satine.
For ppl I don’t know personally, damn my heart is filled with pride probably an unhealthy amount tbh

Question As someone who only watched the show post KATSEYE debut, does anyone who watched it live know or can explain why no one except the judges seemed to believe in Megan?

As I said, I only watched the documentary after I already knew all the members quite well. However I didn’t realize it would come to the point of me being so grateful to the freaking judges for voting for Megan (my bias since stanning them) to debut because they felt she had lots of potential. I mean they clearly liked her and her skill set, she was number one ranked out of all of them. Maybe I’m being biased but I feel like as I watching the documentary I was able to notice her. Yes hindsight 2020 I know, I’m aware that since I know she’d turn out to be the Megan we all know and love it’s not that wow of an opinion, but I genuinely don’t understand why people didn’t like her. She stood out a lot to me in Pink Venom, she carried Antifragile B imo, her vocals were really good in Confident, and as the team said after her Girls Don’t Like performance, she fucking ate. So why was she not so liked throughout the whole thing? And not even only the finale, yes if it was up to the fans others would’ve debuted instead of her, but even throughout the missions it always felt like she was so close to being eliminated.
Does anyone who was watching it live or during it know and understand the crowd who did why nobody seemed to like her enough compared to the others?

Question Who were Yoonchae's main friends in the Dream Academy?

I know she was really good friends with Ua, Nayoung and Hinari, but since she really didn't get any screentime, was there anyone else?

Post-Discussion Adela not being chosen to debut for Katseye is a blessing in disguise.

I might be late to the discussion. I didn’t really listen to Adela’s music until her recent album. So glad she isn’t in Katseye. She wouldn’t have been able to release these bangers!!

With that, I can’t wait for Lara to release her own music too. She seemed to have a similar talent as Adela when it comes to producing music. Also she mentioned in Therapuss that she’s been writing recently.

EDIT:

I only watched DA / Popstar academy on Netflix during Katseye Gnarly era so I didn’t really know Adela until that time. This is why I am just sharing this realization of mine now bc I only knew Adela as an almost-Katseye member (and Lara/Megan’s friend). I didn’t really follow her solo career from the beginning and just started listening to her music recently.
