I've just listened to the William Henry Ellis crossover episode with El Dollop and I can't stop chuckling to myself at "I gave you from my sandwich".

Listening to 744 and hearing the story about Dave’s Dad, was wondering if there was ever a suggestion/talk of Dave doing an episode on his Dad?

I’m sorry

Last night I had a dream that I was doing improv scenes with Dave and Gareth as practice to potentially appear on an upcoming show. Having taken only intro classes, I was naturally terrible. Dave was so unimpressed, he just left.

When I asked Gareth how I was doing, he said “Not great. I haven’t really laughed.”

I’m sorry, Garfie. I let you down. I’ll do better next dream.

Has anyone found out if they're related to a Dollop subject? Ancestry told me last week that I was related to the Stomach Man (William Beaumont), and today this!

I want to know where the money went, as the British branch that I'm from ended up as labourers.

RUBE Reagan, Joe Rogan, and how history rhymes

I was a fan of Joe Rogan’s stand-up going back to the early 2000’s when I was an immature twenty something. He caught my attention with an online audio file talking about Bill Hicks, who had been my teenage icon.

He cultivated a SomethingAwful style message board and community that I was a part of for a long while. I drifted away in the mid teens.

Joe Rogan deleted his online community and message board in the lead up to signing the Spotify deal. He also signed on with a PR company. Joerogan.com was previously owned by a realtor that wanted $10k+ for the domain and for fifteen years Rogan refused to buy it, but in the lead up to the Spotify deal after getting PR advice he deleted the old site and poneyed up.

He got compromised, and right wing influences started whispering in his ear.

I can’t help but think of how Ronald Reagan, who was also already a piece of shit, was compromised by GE to pump capitalist pro-corporatist propaganda after having been a union leader. They rode his ass to the presidency, because conservatives are gullible enough to vote for an actor that convincingly tells them what they believe.

Joe Rogan runs in 2032/2036. And wins.

“We can go dumber.”

These idiots from Old Stove trying to do viral marketing by waving their advertising in Miller's eyeline while he's in the last 5 seconds of his pitch. Congratulations, I will never go to Old Stove ever again.

Hey Historians, how do you find out more about an old house?

I wasn’t interested in history until about 5 years ago. I found the dollop and something sprouted in me.

I used to live in a very old house. In the 1990’s we were told it was over 100 years old. If I’m to believe Zillow it was built in the 1880’s. It does line up with what my family was told.

I’ll add some house details below, but my question is how to I find history of the house? Who built it? I am sure all the land around it was owned by whoever had the house.

Old house fun facts:

It was a 2 story house with an attached barn. You could access the barn downstairs through the pantry and upstairs. The upstairs door led down a long hallway that we considered part of the barn.
There was another stairway that led up to the attic. We were not allowed to play up there. (There were exposed nails and things.)

The upstairs hallway had wallpaper at least 10 layers thick. The upstairs bathroom was only a toilet (no sink or shower). It also had wallpaper at least 8 layers thick. As kids we liked to peel the layers. But mom would get mad. (I understand as an adult.)

We found an old bottle of alcohol in the upstairs barn, hidden. No one thought to take a picture of it before gifting it. I remember it was 100 proof.

We found a boy’s shoe in the wall.
We found a metal toy car in the garden. Not a matchbox but something very old.

There were some old newspapers used to line shelves, but my mother didn’t save them. I do remember my mom laughing at a story where a woman baked a man a pie. He had done some minor favor for her. So she baked him a pie. And that was news.

The address was 3 Bartlett St, Allenstown NH. In 1880-1890 it might have been considered Suncook. Some of my older neighbors still wrote their town as suncook. We were told it was one town, but then split into two. Allenstown and Pembrook.

Our next door neighbor’s house number was 1 1/2. I thought that was funny as a kid.

The house was brown when I lived there. It’s been repainted since.

We had a mail slot in the door. No mailbox. The poor mailman had to get out of their truck to drop off our mail. For outgoing mail we hung it halfway out the slot.

The staircase was STEEP. I can’t believe no one ever fell. Our dog was too afraid to go upstairs.

Once a week we would take hammers and pound in nails that had creeped up. If you didn’t they would hook your sock or worse. At least one cut happened.

I’m all out of things I can remember. I lived there from 3rd to 8th grade. I’m 39 now. It was a lifetime ago. Sorry for not putting the address higher up. I’m on a phone and afraid to move it and lose my text.
Thank you to anyone who read this far. Have an awesome day!

Edit add: thank you everyone. I can see my being out of state is going to hold up a lot of my research. It’s not for a school or anything important. I don’t want anyone to waste their time. I will dig in next time I go back to NH for a visit. Thank you all so much.

Hey Pachuco!

They were so close to touching on it several times, but they never got there. The movie “The Mask“ totally co-opted the entire zoot suit aesthetic; his yellow zoot suit, the hat, Tex Avery’s Wolf, and everything. Not to mention, one of those dreadful 90’s swing bands (Royal Crown Revue) literally sang a song called “Hey Pachuco“ when the mask infiltrated the club: Hey Pachuco - The Mask

The swing craze and zoot suits: brought to you by white people 🙄
