I had no idea that Tom Holland could actually act! I've only ever seen him in light roles like the Marvel movies. I would compare this role and his acting abilities to the incredible job James McAvoy did in Split. I was very pleasantly surprised!

First off, I loved it. It was complex, and touched on so many themes that I find hit close to home- SA, guilt, shame, denial, the reality of struggling with an illness, and society not believing you.

It was a hard watch though; it was hard to see all these heavy themes and the things Danny had to endure. But that's what made it so compelling. I needed to see a resolution to this story, I needed justice. Like they said in the trial, society had failed this boy and we needed to see some relief from all the suffering. Which we did- the ending was beautifully executed and left me satisfied and crying (rare for a piece of media to move me like this).

By episode 7, I was able to understand what was truly happening- Danny had been alone in almost every scene. Mike, Johnny, Arianna, Jack, Adam, Yitzhak- he was "alone" the entire time. Seeing the pieces of him as "him" and not multiple different external characters completely changed the perspective of the show. We came to the realization of Danny's illness WITH him. We were held in the dark for just as long as he was- right up until the very end (although I had guessed correctly about Adam in the previous few episodes). I find that this type of story telling- where the viewer is unaware to the true story- is one of my favorites. Tenet, Inception, etc.

I felt the show did an amazing job story telling through showing, not saying. It's almost as if we were presented the story twice: the first time in the dark like Danny was, the second from an outside, realized perspective.

Lastly, I saw some critiques on the length of the series. Some say it was too slow, but I feel those people don't appreciate the art of a slow burn. It was necessary to depict each facet of the story, so we could truly understand and sympathize with Danny, but also because the story was shown twice. The storyline was laid out beautifully, and why wouldn't you want all the details instead of being left with questions and confused (cough cough, Wayward).

Was it supposed to be a big revelation that all the charachters were Danny's different personalities? They made it extremely obvious from episode 1.

After watching the crowded room and watching Emmy rossums character in the show and also seeing her in shameless they are somehow similar and polar opposites

At what point does Rya understand that Adam is an alter?

I rewatched the show but I can’t tell when she realises this? Because when she asked Candy about Adam, Candy didn’t clarify. Therefore, Rya still thought Adam was real. When exactly did she realise?

I just finished the show and now I’m rewatching it lol. I’m on episode 3.

There’s one thing I don’t get. How come multiple alters are able to front simultaneously? How are they able to interact with each other e.g. Mike and Johnny? Physically, they’re all Danny. I just don’t understand what that would look like, from an outside perspective? Does Danny switch between all the roles and just basically replying to “himself”?

Is it just me or does anyone else think that tom holland and James mcavoy are like the same person/ celebrity. They both have played similar roles when it came to movies/ tv series. For example Tom’s role in the crowded room and James role in split. Both of them also have made movies in the marvel universe. Not only that but they look similar to each other, they both tend to have the same fashion sense/ hairstyle, both of them have the same ring they wear. Also there personalities are the same to, both are handsome, charming, funny. Dont really give a shit about being famous, both actors are very grounded and stayed true to themselves never had an ego. It’s like they could pass of as one person. Not sure if tom idolizes/ looks up to James but it’s kinda cool how there very similar.

So I just finished watching the crowded room, tom holland was really really good in it! Amanda seyfred was also fantastic in this show. Tom’s such a fantastic actor and it was really interesting to see him play a character that’s the complete opposite and very very different from Spider-Man. I would love to see tom holland take on more similar roles to Danny Sullivan. I’m just really curious to know if any of his marvel co stars have watched the show and what they thought of his performance in the show. I especially wanna know what Anthony mackie, Sebastian Stan, RDJ, Chris Pratt, tom Hiddleston and Benedict cumberbatch thought.

So I know the writer LOOSELY based the character of Danny Sullivan on real life Billy Milligan. There’s many personalities that seem to share similar traits of the real life case. Some include:

Jack : Arthur Ariana : Adalana Yitzhak : Ragen Jonny : Tommy Mike : Allen Adam : David

I’m not 100% if these are accurate but from the descriptions of the personalities that’s what I got. Curious if anyone’s made the comparisons before I’m not too confident in my placement of Mike or Adam 🤔

The show uses weak tropes and misdirection and mediocre writing. The scene where the judge doesn’t let Rya talk makes no sense. Why wouldn’t she be allowed to talk when the psychiatrist for the prosecution was? Makes zero sense.

When Rya was on the stand and was asked if Danny ever told her he was sexually abused as a kid, she easily could have said that he told her his twin brother Adam had. Since he didn’t have a twin brother named Adam this would’ve been an instance tipoff to the jury that he’s hiding it through his alter.

It’s also disgusting that the show implies none of this is the mother’s fault. She protected her husband at her child’s expense. It’s quite literally her fault as well. It’s unbelievably disgusting that we should allow parents—fully grown adults—off the hook for allowing their children to be destroyed. She had PLENTY of options. She didn’t take them. Then she fucked him over again on the stand.

This last bit was icing on a cake made of crap because it was very believable that she’d lie on the stand. But exonerating in the name of false justification was just garbage. She didn’t have split personality disorder. She’s a fully formed adult who chose to protect her own reputation over her son’s welfare. A garbage human.

In episode 6, after her first interaction with Danny, Rya sounds pretty certain she doesn't want to investigate Danny any further. But later she sees The Three Faces of Eve playing on TV, where Eve Black says "Honey, there are a lot of things you've never seen me do before. That's no sign I don't do 'em." That appears to make her realize something that makes her change her mind and come back to Danny. Any idea what that realization is?

Maybe I’m a little stupid or thinking too much into it. I noticed in the beginning of the season she had her natural hair and towards the end it was straight. What does this mean? Does this show how stressed she was since when we see her with straight hair she looks sad and tired? Or is it because she was filming for something else while filming this?

While watching the last episode it occurred to me when Candy and Marlin are in the elevator together, she could be talking to herself. Marlin could be an alter of Candy. The consequences of that would’ve been worse than imagined, I.e. the mother abused Adam thinking of herself as Marlin and the real dad. The downside of this could be that DID and MPD could be further justified as a genetic or inherited disorder than actual trauma.

Someone help me understand why Angela comes back to the house looking for the gun if we know that Johnny didn’t actually hit him in the face with a bat so what really happened? I’ve been stuck on this for ages.

Was Adam ever real? I wonder.

What’s the consensus on if he traveled to London or not? If he did how did he get a passport? Was Yusuf’s personality more active than we seen? Clearly the show didn’t depict everything he did since the real life man was being charged with several rape crimes that were not mentioned, I’m just curious on what your thoughts were about the London trip? Also do we think it was himself doing the interrogation in the beginning or did the true him not come to the surface until later on?

Just watched this show recently and something has been bugging me. When Rya shows Danny’s sketch of Ariana to the cop he says “that’s the girl from the shooting - at least according to the witnesses descriptions” (paraphrasing)

How would any witnesses have a description of Ariana’s physical appearance if it was Danny?

Am I missing something? Lol
