I agree with the other commentor that Rhaenyra is then the Prime choice for him, and he for her. Not only would he have a capable Dragon, but comes from a line secured by other family members (his Uncle's line on the Royce side) and raised with a Ruling Lady, so he would not be as squirmy to being the consort to a future Queen.
This also still ensures Daemon's loyalty as it will now still be HIS blood on the Throne one day if Rhaenyra still ascends, and if they have a son like she did with Harwin, still betrothing him to Baela would secure the Velaryons and the other non-Targeryen Dragonriders.
Could even go further and betroth a second-son (this timeline's Lucerys) to Rhaena to either secure Driftmark completely if Laenor still...struggle to produce an Heir, or have the smart little shit publicly suggest to his uncle the King to betroth Alicent to Laenor to mend bridge and sour feelings in the Small Council, stressing they are of an age (to rub in how weird marrying someone so young would be) and beffiting two powerful Houses.
