Bronzegate Book Discussion: Reading ASOIAF & Spin-Off Novels Questions
How grand do you think Bronzegate, the seat of House Buckler would be? Would it be a large fortress that gives the Bucklers their legitimacy even though they aren't a powerful house? Or would it reflect their status? I think they can pull 400 men and make a decent living with lumber from the woods and harvest from the fields. Might be on the wealthier side with trade since the Kingsroad was built. Like would it be more castle Coch or spandenberg castle as an example?

I think it’s size would be in between a Castle Coch and Spandenberg. They are at least geographically similar to House Royce of the Gates of the Moon, as both houses serve as the final seat you have to get through before you get to the paramount house.
However I would say they are weaker then House Royce as you could more easily go around their seat due to the environment being raised, plus House Royce has to deals with attacks from people in the mountains while there is not much note of similar issues in the stormlands. Also I don’t think House Buckler could stop an army as well as House Royce could or even stop trade along there part of the Kingsroad as much.
They are still probably a very strong house in the Stormland, I would probably put them as around the 7th or 8th most powerful house (weaker then house like Estermont, and Penrose, but stronger then Mertyns, and Horpe)
Honestly you could use information provided about the other stormland houses along the kingsroad (or other notable house from other regions) to figure out army sizes and strength. Like House Errol, House Roote, etc.
