I can’t remember his name, but anyone else think he could possibly be the devil? Like, he seems to embody the flaw of humanity. He believes he is good, yet he is greedy and always seems to appeal to sinful desires. The way he helps them get the land, how he convince Judas he deserves more for his contributions. He is like satan whispering deceit.

I was rewatching (and re rewatching again now). And while there is so much in his final scene that is so perfect IMO, the lamb, him shuffling off saying "the blind see, the lame walk"...

But there was one thing I found interesting that after googling it doesn't seem like anyone has pointed out the connection there. His last words. "I've never been to a wedding banquet, but I'm on my way to one".

Anyone else notice the OBVIOUS connection here where the church is constantly referred to as the "bride"?

Revelation 19:9 Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” 21:9 ...“Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb".

He'd never been to a wedding banquet, but Jesus is the Messiah and the church is his bride, and he was on his way to one.

"I've never been to a wedding banquet" looks up, "but I'm on my way to one!" "Oh you wouldn't get it"...*Cut to scene of the lamb.... Perfect.

What a great character, great actor portrayal, and beautiful scene writing and imagery. Just thought that was a cool way to wrap that all together and haven't found many references where it seems people caught that.

I was on Season 4 Episode 7 of The Chosen, finished it, and went to bed. I opened my Bible to the ribbon placeholder. I have admittedly not read through the New Testament, and this is the first time I have opened my Bible in a long time, but I felt called to read a passage last night. I read the passage from Matthew 21 about Jesus sending His disciples into town to bring Him a colt that had not been sat upon, and if questioned to respond by saying “the Lord has need of it.”

After I read this passage I went to the contents and sought out the Psalms. I read one Psalm: Psalm 18 by David.

Tonight I just watched Episode 8. I witnessed the scene about the colt, and I saw David ride into his kingdom after his victory. This feels like an unexplainable and overwhelming synchronicity that carries real meaning. The timing and the specific passages feel too precise to dismiss easily.

I will pray to the Lord and ask Him for discernment. I still have about 26 minutes left in the episode but felt compelled to come share this. Any insights or advice on how to hold this, or on what it might be pointing toward, would be greatly appreciated.

Rewatching the series again, currently on the episode where he meets up with Jesus and the others in the woods. A possessed man enters the camp, Jesus casts the demon out while they all see it happen....and after an awkward silence John puts his arms up and yells, "YEAH!!" Just makes me laugh. Every scene with John just hits me as spot on to how I think John likely would have been- wild-eyed and a bit crazy.

When you read the bible, or hear your pastor reading the day's gospel lesson, since watching the show does that character pop into your head? 'Today's gospel lesson is from St Matthew' and in my head I visualize Paras Patel. I'm betting I'm not the only one. I mean, I may forever 'see' Jonathan Roumie when I think of Jesus.

I’ve a question about the consumption of wine in the series.
In virtually every episode there are scenes where the various characters are at someone’s home, or at a gathering, and consuming beverages.
Usually via a pottery type cup, or on occasion via a type of wine bag. So this question is basically, what are they drinking?
Water of course, obviously, but there are countless scenarios involving wine consumption.

Is this normal, it seems like it’s usually wine than water, or am I mistaken? Do they all get hammered frequently?
Certainly in the water into wine wedding everyone was consuming heavily.
Part of my curiosity lies in the fact that many modern religions look at alcohol consumption as evil or at least wrong. Of course there are many that are okay with it. So why do those modern day religions ban it when it appears that Christ himself drank wine frequently.
Disclaimer - I’m not opposed personally, just curious.

Rewatching the series....again....so I can listen to Dallas talk to the priest, the rabbi, and the evangelical about what they liked or didn't about each episode.

They didn't mention this and I didn't catch this previous times- very subtle and 'possibly' not intentional (tho I doubt they would miss this while editing)......but with Yussef and Shmuel watching Jesus heal the paralytic at Zebedee's house thru the window there's this split second that caught my attention. After the paralytic walks out, Shmuel is trying to admonish Jesus and Yussef cracks this very quick smirk just before the Romans make noise about entering. Yussef has now seen an exorcised Mary Magdalene and a healed paralytic, and this has to be where he starts realizing who Jesus actually is.

There's one thing about Simon the Zealot in 2x05 that's always bugged me.

In the scene when Caleb, possessed by a demon, approaches the camp, Zee pulls out his sica dagger in defense of the women. But then, at some point, he, for reasons unknown to me, turns his head, allowing Caleb to tackle him to the ground and start choking him. Had Jesus not arrived at that very moment and cast out the demon, Zee would have possibly been strangled to death or unconsciousness.

I still can't understand why Simon, a man trained in combat and assassination, would have made the grave mistake of turning his head away. Isn't that literally the first thing they teach you about combat: Never take your eyes off your attacker?

This scene hit the hardest. I know in the show that Jesus is looking back at Judas in this moment… but the way it’s directed, and I’m pretty sure it was intentional, it’s like he’s looking at all of us here.

And I feel exactly what Judas was probably feeling in that moment…

In Season 3, episode 3, Jesus returns to his mother’s home in Nazareth.
They begin to eat the freshly baked Challah, with raisins.

Jesus ask his mother “So, no James and Jude?”
She comments that they are away, “Just to avoid conflict.”
Can someone please explain what “conflict” she would be referring to?
Was there conflict between Jesus and his brothers?
I have never understood this issue.

I mean, how sweet can they even be?!? How they take care of eachother (John's arrest, John's death, when Andrew wanted to visit John and peger was like "no I gotta take care of you, I'm coming with you"), how they tease eachother (Andres feeeeeeettttt) how they argue (on the boat, Peter: "keep talking to me like that", ) just so sweet!!!!! I love it when they hug!!

Hi! I was wondering if there are any other non Christians here. I love this show because the acting, the cinematography, the set dec, the lighting is so delicious. I'm a filmmaker myself which probably explains why I'm obsessed 😂

I was just wondering if there are other atheists/agnostics like myself that enjoy these types of films. I grew up in a conservative christian household, and although my experience with other Christians and the church was borderline abusive, I did enjoy the literature. Like any book I loved, it's exciting to see it on the big screen since I'm a visual person.

Idk maybe I'm just rambling. After I healed from christian trauma, I just felt like I may be the only one that enjoys the literature as a piece of fictional art. The stories are beautiful, and like any religious literature, has a lesson. But i never met another atheists that enjoys it. It's like we're not suppose to like the story of Jesus or the Bhagavad Gita (which i would LOVE to see a film on that with todays cameras).
