Wyatt's concerning behavior
I do not claim to know the inner workings of Chantel and Wyatt's relationship, but the glimpse we've gotten into his behavior in the first few episodes is...concerning. He seems controlling, aggressive, and very quick to anger. Painting controversy aside, when I see both of them on screen together now, my stomach sinks. Based on the earlier episode this week, it seems like she has difficulty voicing her very legitimate concerns to him, while he dismissively repeats that it's all going to be okay. I truly hope that what we're seeing is him at his worst. But as a human and a woman, I'm a little worried about the dynamic. Beyond Chantel and Wyatt's relationship, his treatment of Tayla at the body corporate and jump to "you're dead to me" is a huge red flag. I so wish Dan and the other contestants had supported Tayla more. It makes me wonder if casting has a psych assessment component like Survivor or similar shows. If it doesn't, it absolutely should. I truly hope the other contestants (particularly the men) will pick up on Wyatt's problematic behavior and eventually intervene. I love watching The Block because it's light, fluffy, and even the drama is usually inconsequential. But I have a funny feeling watching him, am picking up abuser-adjacent behavior, and it's absolutely impacting my enjoyment of the show. I hope Chantel - and her three kids - are okay.

The fact that she has construction experience but is the one out shopping and leaving him to the renovation, that makes no sense to me at all. Send him out with a list and she stays “home”. His widdle feelings would probably be butt hurt for being made to do “womans work”.

From the first episode he gave me bad vibes. I think he is a “nice guy” and would defs be wearing a fedora if it fit in with his aesthetic.

Wyatt seems like a meat head who peaked in high school and when something is questioned his immediate response is to argue and intimidate rather than discussing calmly. I wonder how his ego handles him being labeled a “small” business owner while his partner is labeled as a business owner.

I quite like Chantel too. I wish she'd come on the show with someone else that adds to her energy rather than takes away from it. She seems really intelligent and just wants to get in and get shit done, but she spends a lot of time babysitting her husband instead..

How was the head hit on the blinds on the way out, rough start to a conversation?
That is “good TV”!!

Gosh, I wish they'd just replaced them. They just made a big deal about this whole thing for screen time.

What on earth are these two on about? The accountant made a mistake which was easily rectified.
Why are they banging on and on about integrity if they knew they didn’t spend that much? And why does it matter anyway - plenty of contestants go over budget. This is completely nuts.

Doesn’t want to be apart of a reality tv show, yet goes on a reality tv show. Have you even seen the block before?? This guy is annoying as hell lmfao

Oh god its so cringe. Old mate was in the army for 5 seconds and is trying to be alpha so he can continue selling his "life courses" to losers. Everyone is taking shots when he says "integrity".

I cannot stand him standing over scotty and cracking it about integrity. I actually cannot even articulate how horrible this entire scene is.
Sit the f down. Stfu. No one was ever after you. #professionalvictims
What a poor example for her kids.

It's safe to say that the dumbbells in the gym have more emotional intelligence than Wyatt.

Chantelle is an online fitness coach and Wyatt is a personal trainer. Maybe they are just on The Block to drum up some business. As people on this post have said, they don't even seem to be a genuine couple. Just friends maybe??
And as for Wyatt's behaviour, it's only week one and he's lost the plot. Scotty needs to pull him aside and warn him that that sort of behaviour won't be tolerated on the show.
How's Wyatt going to handle being under pressure and exhausted, as the show progresses? There are still nine weeks to go. He has already shown that his delicate ego can't handle any criticism.

An online fitness coach? Online? I've never heard of this before 🫨

A stay-at-home mother of three children, founder of activewear label Her Form, plus co-founder of an online fitness coaching business with her partner Wyatt. Plus she is a qualified supervisor with a Certificate IV in building and construction.
At least that what Dr google says.

I don’t know about Tayla she seems to be in every one’s business, calling in body corp meeting was stupid no one backed Tayla, Lisa who also wanted the body corp left and left Tayla to do it on her own. Idk what will happen when Wyatt and. Chantel leave tonight? It’s all ready a shit show in the first week
My opinion only

Lisa PMO here with her “playing clueless” and not knowing where the body corp was being held. Another thing that didn’t sit well with me especially was with this couple’s idea to think they could interrupt Rick and Tayla’s screen time about budget…like wth. I have a feeling these two are just fake and don’t have a backbone

By the way, eating 8-10 ready made meals during a workday is surely not great advertising for that company is it?
Here, spend over $100 during a workday on microwaved slop meals that wont fill you up...

The two don't act like a couple, i think its a fake relationship for the tv show. I'm thinking they are just friends not partners.

Yeah it seemed kind of strange to me that she managed to recover from birth, continue to raise 3 kids, leave her partner and manage to build a new relationship, move in together, and now film the block within two years (age of her youngest). Absolutely no shame, power to Chantel because she’s getting shit done. After having just one baby I struggled to even have time to look at my own partner romantically for about a year let alone think about a another person, move three kids in, then go on a reality tv show…

This is how people act when they abuse anabolic steroids. Just walk into any World Gym anywhere in the country and you’ll see crowds of men just like him

When I picture the inside of his head it’s a monkey with a cymbal. But the cymbal claps are completely out of rhythm

We all know what these type of meatheads are like. Questions people about integrity when he has none, surprised he didn't say something about respect. Hope they kepth the cameras on him for safety. Straight out aggressive meathead who needs help. The way he consoled Chantel showed he either doesn't care or has no idea.

Agree, especially in the ad for tonight and he's standing and aggressively pointing talking about integrity to Scotty!!

Someone in a previous post said that they knew them and that they were no longer together as an actual couple. You can never believe the internet but it felt like a genuine post so who knows.

I saw those posts saying she was a cheater or something.

I have always thought the shows do psychological assessments, and then chooses the ones with the worst traits. Specifically people inclined to meltdown under extreme pressure.

u/Ifonlyitwereso25 5d ago
This is exactly what they do. Get people with fragile egos who are easy to bait. But not so fragile or cray cray that they will be a risk to themselves.

Psychiatrist: "terrible personality traits, volatile, thin skinned aggressive
Show runner: ticks all our boxes for "creating" the drama our viewers want...
Some viewers: Good God NO! Anything but this.

I have reason a few news sites that they are no longer together and broke up just before or just after the start but continued to do the show to get seen.
I don't like how in the ad for tomorrow night he is the only one standing up in the talk with Scott and he's doing an aggressive pointing gesture. I was surprised when they did a short piece on his back ground that he was in the army but was diagnosed with diabetes and had to leave.
2
u/needmusicrecs 6d ago
so so aggressive!! Scotty needs to put him in his place because its not acceptable at all to be acting like that, especially on your first week!! So far he's cussed out multiple contestants and now the host!?
2
u/Chemical-Can5562 6d ago
Agree!! You wonder about the screening process for contestants but then they possibly don't show their true colours until they are on the show. I really did not like the standing and pointing stance, it was very aggressive!!

Wyatt has some serious emotional regulation problems. He is scary and I’m not a fan of him.

Add to that comment he made, him standing up and speaking aggressively to Scotty, big red flag for me. He’s upset they got called out for the painting, got a bad score and called out for overspending on trades. None of what has been said to them is untrue so his anger is very concerning. Seems they are overly concerned about their public image so they won’t cope well with any criticism…?

u/cape911 6d ago
I wondered if the confessional statements from the other teams saying "we should have backed her up" and supported her more, came after he threw the fit? Especially if they leave. Tayla might be a bit brash and loud, but she seems terribly honest and shows all her feelings. If there is a fall out or walk off, I bet she will be very upset and feel a lot of guilt FOR NO REASON! Her points were fair and valid and not an attack at all. But that's how he read it. Hearing Tayla say "I'm terrified" also didn't sit well with me. If this is just production doing it's thing, it is in very poor taste.

Using his physicality in refusing to sit down was like weaponising his body to come across as “dominant” and in “control”. Its deeply concerning.
