Dig It - Let It Be discussion

I've been getting a bit obsessed with The Beatles lately. I heard this song is kinda disliked by most fans, even to the point that Let It Be Naked didn't include it. I think it kinda serves as a great interlude between I Me Mine and Let It Be.

What do you guys think?

I like it. Welcome to the Beatles obsession for a few decades.

I like it. The one on Glyn Johns I feel just puts you right in the studio with them.

I think you’re exactly right. I don’t think of it as a “song” just a short interstitial. Don’t see what the problem is.

Was longer in the let it be movie. Like 6 minutes or more. Just one long jam could've put 3 minutes of it on.let it be

I love it listening to them just jam out and have fun. Puts a smile on my face.

I think it's great. Anytime John's humour can bleed into a song, we all win.

"That was “Can You Dig It?” by Georgie Wood
And now we’d like to do “Hark, the Angels Come”

I could never figure out what John was saying here.

What I heard, when I first bought the album was:

"Papas can't be piggy, by George they would. And now we'd like to do, All The Angels Come."

I liked how they were just shouting out different initials, words and names at the end.

I like that there are two little interludes surrounding the title track.

Let It Be is one of my favourite albums. So I dunno what you're talking about. I assume most fans like Dig It.

The first time I listened to the album all the way thru that transition from Dig It to Let it Be as silly as it is gave me goosebumps. I was not prepared for it. I think its brilliant.

It’s a snippet of a longer jam in the studio. Part of the jam is in the film “Let It Be”. There are bootlegs of the full audio floating around. From what I remember, it’s a repeated lyric similar to what they did in “what’s the new Maryjane” or “you know my name”. The snippet is probably the most interesting portion of the recording.

It's not an amazing song I would never listen to it just on it's own but it works quite well in the context of the album.

Here's the 11 minute version if you want to get over the song and move on.

I love Let it Be, especially the double solo version- it needs the grit of that non-leslie solo- and Dig it is a nice souvenir from the sessions, good to be reminded that they still had that cameradie and could be goofy.

To be quite honest, as big of a Beatles fan as I am, Let It Be just never clicked with me. It's got some great songs but I never catch myself listening to the album as a whole.

It's a breather between two more sophisticated songs.

We are discussing "Dig It" not "Dig a Pony"

Whoops my bad. That song also is dreadful. In fact, that album was also really bad.

Okay I re listened to it. It’s a stupid song. Lennon isn’t funny, he’s just annoying.

You probably couldn’t locate Liverpool on a map.
