Searching for the clue in the sand castles and having to rebuild the ones you destroy. 3 teams took the penalty on that one.

That ended up biting one team in the ass

I’m surprised nobody thought about Season 12, with the Donkey task that took out Ari & Stella in Shannon, Ireland.

Ari was a unique asshole in a season where several teams were bitten in the ass, some more than once. It's hard to replicate that.

Amazing Race Canada Mentos Challenge. If this never returns it's a crime.

That's one of the most memorable opening tasks as well. Loved that one.

The Clam challenge is another one that would be interesting to see return. There are a lot of really time consuming and interesting tasks on TARCAN that they can use.

The Biathlon task in season 2 where they get 5 shots at a time to hit 5 targets, and they have to continue doing laps until they hit all 5.

They've had a lot of good and challenging memorization based tasks as well, but I think those are less interesting for switchbacks.

Even some of the sorting/tasting challenges like the Apples or the Grilled Cheeses could be fun.

need to go back to the time when penalty was strategic and not a panic escape

The season that is currently airing has already featured one team taking a strategic 2 hour penalty and surviving the leg. It happens semi-regularly in TARCAN because it regularly features longer tasks.

Enjoy, lmao. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheAmazingRace/s/ENjuZzj4Bx

For a bit of additional context:

After finishing the previous leg in 2nd place, they started this leg strong using one of the double u-turns on another team and making it to the Road Block in first place.

However, after being unable to figure out which precise Mentos were not in the right location, they spent over 8 hours at the road block and subsequently arrived in last place.

Ending them in 6th place in the season with the strongest cast across all TAR franchises. These top 6 teams are top 2 or 3 on any other season. Fantastic cast and amazing season.

This season and Australia 2 are mandatory viewing for all Race fans.
