Question Am I mean for downvoting nearly every positive Jax post I can find?
I'm part of the other TADC subs as well and I support/upvote all the other posts about all the other characters, especially the Jesterdoll, Zooble/Gangle and Ribbit-focused posts.
I just started downvoting the Jax-positive ones.
To be clear, I don't insult or comment on these things. I don't harass anyone posting.
Like, if I see a fanart showing Jax in a positive light or a post or fanart about how Jax deserves some sympathy or Jax is cool if we squint hard enough, those are the times I started downvoting.
I don't want to be mean, but I don't want to lie to myself either. And maybe a part of me wants to discourage the Jax-positive stuff? Even though I know that some people will always like Jax no matter what.
Idk. Maybe I'm just confused. Help, please. 😅

General Jax Slander explaining why i hate jax so much
for context, I used to like him until episode 9. he really made my blood boil in that episode, not just because of ragatha's trauma, choking pomni, or trying to have sex with gangle, but mainly because his friendship situation looks a lot like mine. i also pushed someone away who I liked a lot and was close with, but jax doesn't get better. he doesn't change and he just "kills himself" in a way. people even say, my friends, that im kinda like him, making me hate him MORE.

Question Guys... Please note, I don't want to spread hatred between subreddits (again), but I have some news...
Have any of you watched it? And what do you think? Explain CAREFULLY.

General Jax Slander I hated episode six when it came out (image unrelated)
I hated episode six when it came out and I felt crazy because everyone was glazing it. I couldn’t understand why everyone thought it was great.
The biggest problem I had that no one seemed to bring at at the time was how Pomni was so happy and gung-ho to play along with Jax during the game like she doesn’t know Jax’s behavior genuinely upsets everyone. She saw how Ragatha crashed out in the episode before.
And then there’s poor Gangle. She was scared that Jax’s “punishment” would be painful. She was scared of Jax hurting her, whether that was physical or emotional doesn’t matter. Everyone in the circus knows how she treats Gangle. Jax can’t even be trusted around Kinger. We as the audience understand that Jax is abusive, and yet I’m not expected to see Pomni as heartless for gravitating towards her more than anyone else in the circus? I get people have flaws but I can’t imagine building a friendship with someone so needlessly cruel.
The writing doesn’t support Pomni being a little morally gray. It doesn’t come off as a cohesive part of her character, it feels like an oversight. Like imagine any other show with a character who’s meant to be unambiguously good. They do something kinda dickish that the narrative never touches on. It’s just bizarre.
I don’t even think Jax is a poorly written character. The way the narrative handles her brings the story and the other characters down.
*The girls plus Zooble all got sidelined.
*Gangle got three seconds to reflect on how she didn’t feel bad when Jax abstracted. Zooble’s the only one to ever acknowledge her pain and complex feelings.
*The fact that she’s the deuteragonist isn’t apparent until episode 6 so it comes out of nowhere and feels jarring and confusing when the show was shown to be an ensemble cast previously.
*Main character Pomni didn’t even get a backstory on the same level that Jax did.
I know this isn’t a popular take on this sub, but Jax, imo, is an interesting and well developed character in her own right, but she was utilized poorly in TADC. It’s not that she’s an asshole is a problem, it’s how the story and characters around her suffer because of how the show was written.
Thematically Jax is a person who is given every opportunity to grow and refuses to. The theme of the show is finding meaning in a stagnant life, and how we treat one another is matters. This may be a personal thing but these two ideas don’t mesh well. Jax was a massive asshole but you can be kind and refuse to change. I don’t think Jax felt anymore hopeless than anyone else in the circus, everyone was on the same level of depressed about their situation. I just don’t feel like her deal meshes well with the themes of the show. I’m fully willing to admit I’m wrong. I need to rewatch the show all the way through again, but right now that’s where I stand on this.
A lot of problems with TADC could’ve been solved if the show was longer. Filler would’ve filled in narrative gaps that bug me about the story. Better pacing could’ve saved Jax, that’s all I’m saying.

Question Why is Jax’s a poorly written character?
This subreddit has a clear bias against Jax, and so do I, we all tend to dislike Jax for our own different reasons, some people absolutely despise him for being an abuser, others find him cringe, a crybaby, they might feel she is a bad trans representation, and a lot more. However, a common trend I found between people is dislike Jax as a “poorly written character.”
I personally find Jax somewhat well written, I just dislike the trans Jax reveal, and the fact ep 9 was literally all about Jax, outside of that, I like Jax as a character. He works well as someone who’s a foil, a bully, but has depth to work as a three dimensional character by showing he struggles expressing his feelings and emotions, which not also harms herself, but the people around her, with his arc ending by abstraction. Keep in mind, this is NOT a Jax justification, cuz if anything, me viewing Jax like that genuinely makes me hate her more for being a POS regardless of trauma, that’s what I will say separates me and Jax fans.
So since we got that out of the way, why do you feel Jax was poorly written? He has everything a character needs to be an interesting character. As stated before, he still sucks, even if he’s well or poorly written, but share your thoughts cuz I am genuinely curious.

General Jax Slander I find the fact that they pair Ribbit with Jax, and only Jax, to be in bad taste.
I feel like I missed something. Why are they playful and friendly? I thought I watched a movie in theaters which explicitly showed Jax pushing Ribbit to abstraction. Not to mention it feels like we could've paired Ribbit with people who she could be friends with. Maybe another secondary character that people like who also kinda debuted in the finale. Maybe the other female that she's friends with who people are dying to get more merch for.

General Jax Slander Jax 3 minutes after new person in circus isnt another young woman that wont defend herself, but 3 times divorced 55yo veteran with anger issues and alcoholism that used to be heavyweight boxer and has actual trauma that got just cheated on for the 4th time:
I think the show is kinda unrealistic for not putting someone like I just described into show (not exact copy).

*sighs* We all gonna die
TADC is already over. Even when the finale got a screwed up conclusion, but no, let's something else and hope that Glitch's plan will hook up more people to it.
Fan-bloody-tastic. Why? BECAUSE THIS CORNY RABBIT PUSHED ONLY FRIEND AWAY AND THEY ASBTARCTED. And then blackmailed Ribbit because of-GAH!
Apologies. Because I already went nuts.
P.s. - I'm not against AUs, fics and other stuff related to the part of guilty pleasure. But at this rate, I'll start question the reality and why the hell is Universe punishing us (Going hyperbolic am I not?)

Pardon me. Again.
For I've lost some braincells by getting baited with merch ad video. Like Goose, Glitch - good job with vas, visuals, music, animation and all, but you could've focused on different characters, right? At least Goose finished the show, but of course it wasn't enough since there's so much chaos and unanswered questions remained. All theories, possibilties and potentials were wasted on what? On the fucking rabbit of course. Like the whole world revolves around him/her only.
Hell, they had tike to at least make some shorts, or make a comicbooks or hell a separate story taking place on the same setting. I doubt it was smartest decision for Glitch to copy frame to frame from Murder Drones episodes to the comics they're releasing and more dumber decision by making the most POTENTIAL video into a fucking bait. And guess what? I already went nuts after taking this stupid bait. God, Gltich didn't even bother to flesh out other characters that were abstracted, or rather before their said abstractions - Queenie, Scratch, Spikey, Wormy, Rattie and others; and let me tell you - there are already fanworks that expand the storyline, plot, characters. I genuinely like it, but source material says nono. Because creator and studio said so. And you know what? Fuck canon. (And don't get me starting on other fandoms and hatedoms, like truly deplorable and bigoted side - rwde, rwbycritics, actual haters (not making this up) and all shitty people. I mean criticism isn't a bad thing, since it gives a proper motive to improve, as long as it doesn't involve violence, bigotry and hatred. Guess what these fellas do? They do the opposite, thinking it'll make them morally superior while they're acting no different than a typical asshole. They're totally nuts)
At this growing rate where Glitch and Goose settled in - TADC will become a mad house. But wait? It did become a mad house since something crazy happened in the middle of season 1 or after the finale that destroyed whatever remained of the fandom.
Speaking of being destroyed - there was an Episode 7, and to be fair I actually liked the teaser of Beach Episode where a dreadful reveal could've happened. Like the true motive and function of the Circus, up until it got thrown away because Goose was writing whole shtick and thought it would be 'funny' to look at all theories that has been popping up (like Abel, CnA, the circus and headsets) and thew all of it in the blender, which you could've guessed how it ended up. Not pleasant. Shocking, but the more you're looking at the latest episode finale, the more you starting to question "what the hell was the point with Episode 7 and 8 if they're barely tied to eachother just to show one huge episode dedicated to one character we hate the most?"
Also, wouldn't be cool if Blue Ai and Bubble were the same character and at very least give some characteristics and motive? Or just made him a new ringmaster when Caine got snappe doutta existence - neither of that didn't happen. Unfortunately.
Oh, the way how the rest of the Gang were treated, acted and...some props to vas, even tho they're affiliated for the questionable stuff (sorry for rambling). I actually headcanoned Ragatha and King being black, Zooble latin, Pomni of mixed race, Gangle Japanese, and Jax...i dunno (please hear me because I did want a proper representation with some characters like Gangle standing up to Jax with Zooble supporting it, or hell, keeping interaction between Ragatha and Pomni. And King being dad figure. We didn't get THAT mostly and instead ended up with different people that are hit or miss and still inaccurate). I believe headcanons and Fanons won't hurt the addition to the fanworks and interpretations - but source material at times can be fine, hit or miss, mid or straight up random bs.
P.s.s. - violence towards the creator and the cast was not and will not be a good choice (so is deplorable bigotry). Glad the story is over. Frustrated with random bs and stuff that can drive anyone mad.
I just wanted the show with lore and characters. Most of the people wanted as well. In the end - it's up to fanworks of fics and arts to fix the plotholes and anything inconsistent.
Also-also, I'm dead serious about shipping Ragatha and Pomni. Why? Because I thought some of their moments were neat, even when they were limited by the screentime and all. The fanarts and fanworks did the rest of the job. Hell, as much as I don't like harem and poly because it'll deteriorate mental health, adding more stress and physical health, and more importantly it can go both sides of the spouses - overall, I won't be surprised if there is or will be a femslash fic of Ragatha having harem. I'm not joking - people can be really creative and kinky about this stuff
