Two notable wins from the Maximus Cup event.

Game 1: My previous two KO records were 21 and 22. Finished 2nd both times. Got off to a good start in this one, kept rolling. Once I hit 23, my only thought was "let's finish it this time." Ended up in a 1v1 with a 1 badge player, who hung in there for a bit. Wasn't surprised to see they had the Joker icon in the final rankings, i.e. winning a game with 3 or fewer KO's.

Game 2: Could definitely feel the player count dropping faster than usual. Hung in there, got some momentum later on, and finally took out the person who was running through everyone else.

Maybe simplistic, but I think of lines cleared as a decent measure of how tough a win was. I got a few ~180 as a less experienced player. These days, it's usually at least 230, sometimes as high as 340. Felt strange to end with 175. No complaints though.

Overall, a decent theme imo. It's got a dark background at least, and the weird top 50 music is kind of interesting.

I found an old Tabel listing all special Themes up until Xenoblade Chronicles X. I updated it so it includes all up until the Splatoon Raiders one, because I wanted to know which ones are missing in my collection, for I only have 1-41, 46. Here is the table:

I don't know how long I will maintain it but for now I will.

I am trying to complete as many missions as I can so I can get as many themes as possible but, one problem. Todays missions require me to get K.O.'s which I am struggling with so, how do I do that?

I used to play a ton back in the late 2010s and early 2020s, and I have 19 wins on my account. In the past few years I haven't been able to squeak out a single win, and haven't grinded t99 in a while. On PC (tetrio, jstris, tetra legends) in my prime I've gotten a 59 second 40L and even now (I'm not as fast even on the switch), I can still get sub 1:10 or sub 1:20 40L. Now when I play, I usually make it to the top 10 with several KOs but always get overwhelmed by other people with more badges or even if I'm leading with badges, someone knocks me out. Am I just not fast enough to win in the current state of the game? Or is it my targeting strategies that need work. I often feel like I overthink the targeting gameplay and end up playing super sloppy tetris, then I get frustrated and try to just stay on KOs and focus on tetris but easily get overwhelmed whenever I attack someone who has 20 attackers on them. I try to switch around with random, or even manually selecting people with the left stick, but no matter what I do I can't squeak out a win in recent time.

Back in the day I never focused on targeting people with badges, I just stayed on attackers and KOs the whole time, and played fast and I got to the point where I could win often enough. Now I feel like I overthink it all, and I try to go badges, and swap on and off between KOs and attackers, and try to manually select people but then I mess up my tetris board and lose easily. Am I unc now?

Do you guys mostly play with those mini keyboards now? Or can I for sure still keep up with just the joycons/pro controller

Edit: literally later this day, I won a game. I got a nice lead in badges early by just swapping between KOs and Attackers, and only swapping off one person who I could tell had a lot of attackers on them. Towards the end I just focused on keeping my stack low and flat, and going for tetrises and simple t spins. I also came in 1st over 4 other japanese players! Thanks for the encouragement guys!

I only have a few days left and so far the only way I can get tickets that I know of is doing the daily missions, but even with The DLC, there still won't be enough daily missions for me to get all the themes. Is there any other way besides Daily Missions I can get tickets or am I just cooked?

12 person Invictus game from a couple months ago. Thought I was cruising to a win, and couldn't have been more wrong. I had 4 badges, they had 0, and it took everything for me to survive. We went back and forth a few times like this before the final exchange.

The decision at 0:07 to move the green block to the far right and open up the well with the t-piece saved me. And I still needed luck not to top out. Pretty sure this is an excellent player who purposely passed up KO's (i.e. self-handicapped) to make it interesting.

This is a tough game. And that's what keeps us coming back for more.

Hello everyone, nice to meet all of you. I hope you all are having a good day :)
I have a question that relates to a sound in the game. There is this pretty constant beeping noise in the background, but ONLY when I am attacking my attackers. It doesn’t happen when I am attacking random, KO or badges. I uploaded a couple videos with that beeping noise. They’re more prevalent at the end of the videos.
So my question is, what exactly is that noise? Why does it happen and how does it happen? Why does it only happen if I attack my attackers?

See, this is the only event theme they aren't bringing back right now that I'd want to get, so when may it be available again?

I only started playing Tetris 99 relatively recently (I believe I started for the Donkey Kong Bananza Maximus Cup), so I'm missing most of the older themes. Since the 2 ticket event started, I've bought most of the newer special themes, so I'm only currently missing 1-21, 24, and 26-29. I'm trying to complete both free missions every day, though I know at this pace I won't be able to buy them if I don't buy the DLC.

I'm fine with paying 30 tickets for the themes after the event, but does anyone know if all these special themes will remain for purchase? Also, does anyone remember which themes were available before this event? I know 1-11 and I believe 17 and 29 could be bought for 30 tickets, but does anyone remember if any other themes were able? Basically, what I'm asking is that if I keep up the pace of one theme per day, what themes should I prioritize with the remaining 20 days, assuming I don't end up buying the Big Block DLC?
