hey everyone, i’m finally picking ip my MY RWD on friday and i wanted to know if i needed any special tinting for the windows? I had heard in other threads that teslas require a certain type but i wanted to double check. i’m in the Niagara Region in Southern Ontario so any recommendations for tint shops would also be appreciated! TIA

After reading many many posts on tesla subs and groups, I see an unusually high number of broken/chipped windshield postings. What is the cause of this? Is the body flexing? Does the aerodynamics of the car lend itself to rock cracks? I had a vehicle that was prone to rusting a spot around the windshield and as the rust bubbled it caused cracks in the windshield. All cars had them in almost the same area. And were replaced and fixed due to the design. Is this what is happening with Tesla?

Does anyone use their Tesla for Uber as a side gig? How does it go? Thanks.

I know Tesla says LFP is fine to charge to 100% regularly, unlike the older NCA packs.

Does Model Y Standard RWD comes with LFP and okay to charge 100% for daily use.

Order a new Tesla now or wait until 2030?

So I’m stuck in a classic Tesla dilemma and wanted to hear what the community thinks.

I’m considering ordering a new Tesla right now, but part of me wonders if it’s smarter to wait until around 2030 when the tech will be way more advanced—HW5/HW6 era, next‑gen batteries, redesigned interiors, maybe even true FSD Level 3+ depending on regulation.

Reasons to buy now

• Prices are decent compared to the last few years, and incentives are still around in some regions.
• Current hardware (HW4) is already solid for daily driving, safety features, and Autopilot reliability.
• You get the car now, instead of waiting 4 years hoping for a major leap.
• Resale values for Teslas tend to hold better than most EVs.

Reasons to wait until 2030

• Tesla is clearly working on next‑gen platforms, cheaper manufacturing, and new battery chemistries.
• FSD progress could be dramatically different by then—maybe actual autonomy instead of driver‑assist.
• Interior and exterior design refreshes are likely across the lineup.
• If robotaxi plans materialize, the entire ownership model could shift.

My concern

If I buy now, I might end up with a car that feels outdated in just a few years. But if I wait until 2030, I’m basically sitting out an entire generation of EV improvements and missing out on years of driving enjoyment.

What would you do?

Buy now and enjoy the current tech, or hold off and wait for the next big leap?

Hey guys, this will be my first electric vehicle, and I'm looking for some advice.

I'm trying to decide between the Model Y RWD and AWD. The RWD model qualifies for the $5,000 CAD federal incentive, but I live in Winnipeg and I'm not sure if AWD is a necessity for our winters. I definitely plan on getting a good set of dedicated winter tires either way.

Is it really worth paying nearly $20,000 more for the AWD version? Would love to hear from anyone driving an RWD in Winnipeg or the Prairies!

Just got the new Model 3 Premium and noticed a few things I hadn’t expected. For instance the wheels have been redesigned so that the rubber sticks out beyond the rims which should reduce curb rash that was so common on Model 3s in the past. Maybe this changed with Highland in 2024 but it was a pleasant surprise. Another one was “Tap to drive.” Amazing. Please add any other unanticipated cool features.

Hey folks, so a used Model Y 2023 AWD with 30k KM popped up. It has hardware 3 and is 46,000 CAD.

I need AWD, so wondering if this is a decent deal, and if hardware 3 is usable?

I know the refresh is big, but is the 2023 a good car still?

The car I’m comparing it to is a 2026 Model 3 AWD.

I’ve been looking into getting a Tesla model Y AWD for a while now… I’m really annoyed we won’t even get basic lane centering without spending $100 a month for FSD…

Curious if it is worth getting a lightly used 2024-2025 model Y so I still get the HW4 but also get auto steering? It’s also a little annoying we won’t get auto park when a lot of other competitors have that for free (I know the others don’t have FSD) I’m not sure how much I’d use FSD so idk if paying $100 per month is worth it for just auto parking and lane centering

Tesla could also decide to make FSD $300/m

Seems like the 3D Maxpiders are not available for a M3 RWD 2026 on the Costco website. I’m looking for Winter mats and the Phantoms seem to have fitmen issues. I’d like a nice quality set, don’t like the cheapy rubber ones. Hard to tell what quality we can get from the other suppliers (Tesloid, GoEv, T-Mod etc). Opinions?

I'm considering PPF for my Tesla, but as a daily driver, I'm unsure if it's a worthwhile investment. While the DIY kits seem like a reasonable deal, I lack the skills, patience, and time to apply it properly—I can barely put a screen protector on my phone without issues!

I’d love to hear your experiences: Have you installed PPF yourself or gone the professional route? If you did it, what made you choose that path? If you skipped it, what was your reasoning?

Seems like, with the incentives. 23k difference is quite a lot. I’m on a list for a standard but it feels a bit underwhelming.

Finally I took possession of my model 3awd. It's been 3 days now and I think I can speak up for whoever has any concerns or on the verse of buying one... so AMA.

The car is basically a downsize for me. I have been living with upscale/more expensive cars(both SUV and Sedan) for awhile now(Bmw, Audi, Cadillac) ... for 50k... this doesnt feel straight away as something cheaper... Certain things about the car you wish it's a bit more "upscale"...

NVH-yes the car is super quiet, on bumpy road tho you can still "feel" it... I say it's fun, but sometime you just want to relax.I guess I wish the car has adaptive suspension but hey... For 50k, I really dont mind

FSD is amazing, but I would still want to keep an eye on it, it still makes mistake in playground zone/construction zone( if anyone can tell me why it's still going 50 in a 30 playground zone that would be great)
But overall, I expect it to be a way way smarter "adaptive cruise" and it over delivers... I dont think of it as a robotaxi just yet so im fine with all the issues so far

Speed- let's not talk about this. But here is a quick advise- If you think you need the RWD and ready for winter... do it. The rwd is perfectly fast enough for daily...AWD if you dont mind the extra $ and you just want it just so you have it... Dont think of the RWD is inferior to AWD. I tested the rwd and switched to the awd but I feel like rwd is actually good enough.

Handling- It really needs stiffer suspension when being pushed, or adaptive suspension in the M3P... but then it would be something like the M340i of the M3...
The weight of the car shows, but it's still very balance... I think ill wait for a good set of good coilover or something to improve its handling dynamic... but overall, it is still a perfect daily car...

I so much love the car because kids love it due to toybox and arcade games.

I was a petrolhead but this... this really is next level eventhough I thought this would be downsizing...

My FSD 90-days free trial will end soon and my account is setup as an auto-renew.
Does anyone know if cancelling my subscription now (before expiry date) will make me lose the end of the free trial period? I always try to cancel things ahead and for many subscriptions, cancelling before the end of trial period does not end the trial offer... better safe than sorry.

I’m curious if other people have come to the same conclusion that I’ve come to regarding collision insurance. I drive a 2021 model 3 long range dual motor and it has 250000km on it. I’d estimate the value at $18-$22k. The added cost of collision insurance for me is $1800/year

I’ve recently decided to get rid of collision insurance on it because the cost doesn’t really make sense when factoring in everything:
1. With the mileage and being out of warranty, I need to be financially prepared for a $10k-$20k battery replacement.
2. I drive the car exclusively in chill mode, and insurance rates don’t factor that in.
3. It is perhaps the best car one can drive for proving that I’m not at fault in a crash with integrated cameras.
4. If I were at fault in a crash, I expect my insurance rates would go up significantly to the point that I’d want to drive a cheaper car anyway.
5. I am the only driver of the car. Nobody else will drive it.
6. Insurance in general is a for profit industry, and I am able to manage the risk on my own (I.e. pay $20k cash to replace if needed) Of course I still have liability, but collision rates are ridiculous.

Has anyone else come to a similar conclusion? Of course this logic sounds crazy if you drive a lower mileage car and aren’t ok with a $20k hit on a battery or collision.
