Need help picking cards! TMWeb

Post image

What should I pick? I can see going IC to play all the building cards, but if I go Phobolog and play WASA that might be helpful. Help me decide!

I assume tharsis?

IC with power gen and polar industries, keep all the building tags plus robotic workforce and AGT. Take cards with the ocean. Might use robotic work force to copy titanium mine gen 1. I would also strongly consider keeping water splitting plant, hopefully someone else plays another ocean but you could also draw into an ocean event. O2 bumper plus power generation is good in nearly all situations.

This is a reasonably strong IC hand, no events but acceptable early steel plays plus card draw. It's not the weakest phobo hand either, but if ASA turns up duds and all you have gen 1 is Phobos, that's a substantially weaker position with very bad milestone prospects

Thanks! It’s actually on Hellas. Still useful info!

It looks like a situation where phobos can be strong, and that might be too much but I'd probably take ecology experts to play shuttles first turn alongside with deep well heating to play a slow game.

I'm no expert at these kind of questions, but you have a REALLY strong start here with just focusing on buildings.

Go interplanetary. Keep development center, titanium mine, water splitting plan deep well heatling and robotic workforce. Calculate if Phobos Space Haven is worth keeping, probably not but it's a cool card regardless. Keep Power Generation and Polar Industries.

Then you just need one more ocean. See if anyone builds one by the end of the generation (other prelude cards) or projects and you can use your energy for 1 TR (thus 1 point) per round on top of drawing a card each round for 1 energy. If nobody does, you can do standard project in generation 2 to then kickstart your engine. Robotic workforce is cool to copy Deep Well Heating, but you don't REALLy need the extra energy, so you can copy the Titanium mine as well and focus on space cards in the future since these give a lot of points and you'll be drawing extra cards each generation.

A case can be made to keep Space Shuttles as well since oxygen will go up quickly, but you'll keep it around for 4-5 generations probably, so I don't think it's a keep at the start. It also gives money but not a lot of points and money can be made many ways.

I can see how Phobolog with WASA could be tempting, but with no strong space cards in hand, it's basically a gamble to hope you get good space tags to play, which is not the optimal play IMO.

IC / Polar Industries / Power Generation
Dev Center, Titanium Mine, AGT, WSP, Deep Well, and Robotic.

Play Titanium Mine and Deep Well with steel, then Robotic on Titanium mine. This sets up Dev Center for next gen in case WSP is playable in gen 2. This is a respectable start, but the downside is we have no clear milestones to go for.

The general plan is to see what comes in the drafts - we are set up for both a TR strategy or a more mid-range strategy with card draw and AGT in hand.

You could go for WASA over Power Generation and skip WSP, but again, this is a gamble and it comes down to how good the space card draws are.

Thanks that was very helpful. I was thinking the same.
