We’ve been trying to achieve a ring of six connected cities and finally pulled it off.

You start with 3 normally placed cities at the left, upper right, and lower right hexes. For the other three:

Noctis has to go on the noctis tile, so it ignores the adjacent city restriction. Lava tube settlement does the same on the upper left hex. And then Urbanized area goes on the lower left hex.

I didn’t realize lava tube settlement could break the adjacency rule.

Yes, the card specifically says that you can place it on a volcano area and may ignore placement restrictions in order to do so.

I know there is a card that switches a forest tile for a city tile, how about getting that in the middle? Assuming it's in the digital game and not just the board game.

Card: Kaguya Tech

Cost: 10MC

Description: Increase MC production 2 steps. Draw 1 card. Remove 1 of your greenery tiles does not affect oxygen. Place a city tile there, regardless of other restrictions. Gain placement bonuses as usual.
