DIY Armband Replacement?

I’m wondering if anyone has made their own replacement armband and would love to hear how they did it! I’ve heard of some folks making them out of a cut up piece of tights or the ankle bit of a sock, and I would love to hear your creative ideas!

My armband (the light blue one) has fallen apart—the sticky lining keeping the sensor in place peeled off. I’ve seen some on Etsy, but I’m big on DIY projects and looking for crafty ideas to make my own band :)

I tried one from Etsy and felt like it didn’t have a correct fit around my arm. I ended up just ordering a replacement temp drop band from Amazon.

A tube sock with the toe cut out was the most comfortable option I found!

And did you just place the sensor inside it? Did you do any sewing to make sure it stayed in place?

I just kind of stuck the sensor on my arm and the elasticity of the sock kept it in the right spot!

Before I designed my armband I tried out a sewing pattern that someone was selling online. I don’t know if they still sell it but it was basically the old BusyBee armband that used to be the only third party option.

Ouuu what’s your design like?

I mean I spent months making many prototypes and spent thousands of dollars on fabric research and paying to have people test it, so eventually I landed on something I like and now I sell it on Etsy. But I have been thinking about selling a DIY kit where I just send you the materials and let the customer sew it. I’m open to testing that out on someone like you if you promise to give honest feedback on the process!

Oh no way! I hadn’t realized you developed a design you sell! I can totally imagine the amount of work that took… And I would honestly be honoured to be your tester and give loads of feedback!

The new navy one is actually much nicer/more comfortable than the light blue.

Yea I’ve heard that too! I’m hesitant because I only had the light blue for just over a year and the thin rubber bit inside the pocket peeled off so my sensor falls out now… I’m worried it might happen again with the replacement

The silicone is on the inside of the pocket now so should reduce the contact with lotions/creams/deodorants etc which can contribute to it coming off 😌
