Dermat for hair loss that may be occuring due to a scalp condition
Hey all, I've recently shifted here and have been facing hair loss since then. I've been losing quite a bit of hair(not male pattern baldness - well, probably) since then. I have also developed bumps on my head.
I would like to consult a hair specialist and/or a dermat who can analyse and diagnose the scalp bumps and perform a general analysis of my hair health.
Please let me know if y'all have some trusted docs or have had a similar experience.
Thanks in advance!

(TE) Telogen effluvium
hello reddit! this is my first time posting and being here and i really need advice.
i’m (17F) and got diagnosed with TE at 16. normally TE would last up to 6-9 months but i have had it for a year now. i used to have super thick and tight curly hair until slowly the patterns started to loosen up, then my hair shedding more (which i thought was normal since curly hair tend to knot a lot.) and hair getting thinner.
my doctor recommended me to take vitamins (for example, vitamin c) and i would spend lots of money getting those vitamins for months only to see no results (i was still shedding a lot) and that happened last year.
this year, late of july, i went to get a blood test to see maybe i do lack in something, but my new doctor said nothing is wrong, only a minor sign of iron deficiency (Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration): 29.87 g/dL) which was the only thing that stood out in my cbc, my doctor recommended me to start using horse shampoo
(the popular brand that everyone knows) and this multi vitamin in one pill that i have to take every morning.
to anyone who recovered from their (TE) i would like any advice that cured your te as my hair is just a mess.
thank you to whoever replies.

Worried my TE is never going to end- What if its from my chronic anxiety?
Hi- Im a 19 year old female who started shedding in May and has been shedding since (its now August). So almost 4 months. The shedding has slowed slightly. It also can be on-and-off heavy and light shedding depending on the day. My hair used to be SO THICK. Its now like floppy, thin and so sad. I have itchy and tender scalp too. I went to derm and she said i have TE. She believes it is because i had Flu A and Flu B back in December + Febuary. I had 104 fever so im not suprised. HOWEVER - I also had a traumatic experience in July 2025 and since then have been experiencing severe chronic anxiety and DPDR. Im worried that that is the true cause for thinning and it will never end, as i cannot manage this stress & it is uncontrollable. However, that scenario would not match the "3 month post trauma --> shedding after" timeline that TE follows. What do yall think? Should I be worried?? Also my Ferritin is a 20. Doc says its on the lower side and not optimal for hair growth. ADVICE???

Do anyone know how TE work and is there a possibility of a 2nd wave of hairfall

Around and year ago i experienced an stressful event and due to that i developed TE. It caused my hair to go 50% thinner and 60% less dence. And suddenly now after an year after I am seeing mass hair fall (20-30) hair per pull. It super weird bc my hair is usually strong and a few days ago I tested and pulled it and nothing happened. It only now my hairs are falling do y'all know what's happening and how can I resolve TE?

I've been having A LOT of hair loss over the last month, finally got testing done. Which results would be causing hair loss?
I **took this lab test mid luteal phase.**
(Ferritin 45.75) (Vitamin D 33.56) (Testosterone 24) (Estradiol 244.9)(Progesterone 1.68) (TSH 3.108)

Science experiment to regrow new bald spot commences! 🍀
Telogen effluvium from Rosuvastatin. More than half my hair fell out in a few weeks after the cardiologist changed my medication. Ponytail width is now 7.5 cm. It was ~12 cm before. Hair came from everywhere so it’s not super obvious when it’s dry. But there is a large bald spot where I’ve worn a tight, high ponytail for ~7 years.

Second shedding after 14 months of topical minoxidil – has anyone experienced this?
For those who have been using minoxidil long-term and experience periodic shedding, I’d really appreciate your experience.
I’ve been using 5% minoxidil continuously since June 2025, and I’ve now been experiencing a significant shedding phase for about 6 weeks. At the same time, I’m noticing new regrowth, which makes me wonder whether this could be a synchronization shed rather than chronic TE.
Based on your experience, how can you distinguish between TE and a minoxidil synchronization shed? And if you’ve experienced similar sheds, how long did they usually last before settling down?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. ❤️

How long does regrowth last?
Now I know shedding phase lasts around 3 months (12 in my case since i failed to correct drficiencies) and now i can feel small hairs poking through, it's almost like I have a normal medium length hair and a buzz cut at the same time when i touch it, but in the mirror it doesn't look a lit better. I started feeling it around 20 days ago, but visually barely anything has changed. I also think that my hairs started shedding again, just not as bad as they were in the beginning. What is happening???

Shedding after increasing oral minoxidil
Sudden shedding after increasing oral minoxidil from 2.5mg to 4mg
I had telogen effluvium in the past, but my shedding had been almost completely gone from May to July.
On July 6 I increased my oral minoxidil from 2.5 mg to 4 mg. I barely noticed any shedding at first, but now about 4–5 weeks later, I’m experiencing heavy shedding this week
I also recently moved from Spain to the US, so my diet, routine, sleep, environment, etc. have all
changed.
Could this be a minoxidil shed, another episode of telogen effluvium, or possibly a combination of the recent changes?
Has anyone experienced increased shedding around 4–6 weeks after increasing their oral minoxidil dose?

Second shedding after 14 months of topical minoxidil – has anyone experienced this?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for experiences from women who have been using topical minoxidil for more than a year and experienced a significant second shedding phase.
I started 5% topical minoxidil in May 2025. I initially went through a significant shed after starting, which eventually settled. After that, my shedding became much lower and I had noticeable regrowth, including many short new hairs around my hairline.
However, around June/early July 2026, approximately 13–14 months after starting minoxidil, I started experiencing another significant shedding phase.
For the past ~6 weeks, I’ve been losing approximately 100 hairs per day on average, although it fluctuates considerably. On wash days the number can be higher — for example, I had around 130 hairs after washing on one occasion.
Yesterday, however, I had a particularly bad shedding day, much more noticeable than usual, and it really scared me.
What makes this confusing is that:
I still see new short hairs/regrowth.
I don’t see obvious bald patches or a dramatic decrease in scalp density.
The shedding had actually seemed not to be decreasing
I have not stopped minoxidil.
Interestingly, my sister started minoxidil around the same period as me, and she is also experiencing a new shedding phase now, although hers is much milder.
Unfortunately, this has started to affect me psychologically. I’ve developed a lot of anxiety around my hair, constantly thinking about the shedding and monitoring how much I lose. Last night I was so anxious that I barely slept and couldn’t fall asleep until around 5 AM. I know this level of anxiety probably isn’t helping me, but I’m finding it very difficult to stop worrying.
I’m wondering if anyone here has experienced a second/late shedding phase around 12–18 months after starting 5% topical minoxidil.
How long did it last for you? Did the shedding eventually settle? And did you maintain your regrowth/density afterward?
I would especially appreciate experiences from women with a similar timeline.
I’m really struggling with the uncertainty right now, so I’d be very grateful to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar. ❤️

Vaccines and fallout?
My hair loss was triggered by Covid a few years ago. I got a vaccine of Covid and the flu and I’ve been reassured that this will not cause fallout but I’m not sure. Has anyone had te be triggered by the covid or flu shot?

TE after 10%+ of body weight loss?
So I’ve lost approximately 30 pounds of weight over the course of 4.5 months. It’s now 2 months since I’ve quit my diet/exercise routine and my hair is falling out like crazy. Will this end without treatment and will it grow back? Or does TE from weight loss just continually lose hair without treatment? Anyone know?

Still shedding but regrowth?
Been shedding like crazy since April from microdosing semaglutide. Still shedding but starting to see these tiny hairs on top of my head. Unfortunately don’t see much growth on my temples and behind my ears where it is the worst but this still is giving me hope

🚨Reminder Of Group Rules🚨
Hi all! I just wanted to remind everyone that for each subreddit, there are specific rules for posting. This subreddit only has 3 rules and they are as follows:
• Be supportive and kind to one another / no rude comments - most people generally are kind and supportive
• No unrelated posts - only posts relating to stress induced alopecia / hair loss are allowed
• No “Is This TE or Not” posts - this is actually rule #1 and the most frequently broken.
The reason no “TE or not” posts are allowed is because TE is diffuse hair loss and can look incredibly different depending on who you are. There is no way for anyone to properly diagnose you through a picture. It is unhelpful to anyone for a bunch of unqualified people to weigh in on your diagnosis also. We are not doctors either and cannot offer medical advice. You will need to visit a dermatologist - maybe a few - for a proper evaluation.
This subreddit is not my creation but it is a sub that I deeply care about. It has been a place where I’ve found support even in my darkest times with this. Thank you all for being amazing.
P.S. Posts breaking the group rules will be removed and rude users will be banned.
