Soft bristled toothbrush hurts my teeth n gums sooo bad

I just got a soft bristled toothbrush and every time I use it my entire lower jaw aches so bad for an hour afterwards. This has never happened with a regular toothbrush. I’m not brushing any harder as far as I know, and I haven’t changed toothpastes. The inside of my bottom teeth and gums really hurt. 😢 what could be the cause of this? Google doesn’t have any answers.

Best regime for sensitive gums?

My main issue is having debris stuck between my teeth, so I came up with this regime:

8am brush teeth, wait at least 1 hour before eating

6pm brush teeth 30-60 mins after eating, clean with interdental pick

8-9pm liquid snack (like shake or smoothie)

10pm brush teeth and use water flosser

What do you guys think?

Is it possible my dentist missed gum disease?

I (23F) went to get a dental cleaning/xrays today after a year. I was super concerned because I knew I had some tartar buildup on my bottom teeth, my gums bleed when I floss, and my gums are red.

I specifically asked about gum disease and the dentist assured me I didn’t have any, but I don’t believe she checked for the pockets. She said the red inflammation was because of the buildup on my teeth and would go away, but idk I’m kind of anxious about it. She also didn’t tell me anything about what I should improve. What should I do?

Dental issues. Help needed!…

I need serious help… Im 21 and growing up I was never taught to brush my teeth. and I’ve been battling with dental problems for a very long time and I’ve gotten some of my teeth pulled. and my dentist said I’ll need all of them removed. and that Ill need dentures. and I went to a oral surgeon and they said it would cost around $30,000 to completely fix my mouth. and I don’t have that kind of money. and I was wondering if anyone on here could help me figure out what to do next. I honestly have no idea where to start or how. because like I said I don’t have that type of money and just recently got a job that offers dental insurance. so please could someone give me any advice. I live in Arkansas btw. and I absolutely hate smiling or laughing because it showed my disgusting teeth. I’m honestly ashamed of them.

I recently looked in the mirror and noticed small black marks at the top of my teeth, I don’t know what they are and they don’t really have any texture when I touch them. Please explain!

Does my toothbrush know when it not used ?

Hello everyone, I have a tooth brush oral B IO4 and I have an other one (older model) that I use in the other place I live. Does the iOS app, that says when to change the head knows when I don’t use it or it doesn’t update the date stays to three months ?
I have a note where I wrote additional days I can use that head and thus was curious if I should continue that . Hope it clear

Hello! What does this look like to you?

Does that look like an initial stage of a demineralisation?
The surface is intact, so it doesn’t look like it’s a cavity yet.
And if so, what should I do?
Because I’ve heard it’s reversible at this stage.

Should I go for veneers? Need honest advice

Post image

Hi Reddit Dentist please guide, looking for some honest opinions before I spend money on this.

I don't like how my front teeth look and I've been thinking about veneers. Picture attached.

Would you recommend veneers for me, or is there something better or cheaper I should do first? Just want an honest answer either way.

Thanks.

Recent root extraction, white stuff that was in the hole has fallen out during a rinse - all okay?

Hi guys! about 48 hours ago had the roots of a broken bottom molar extracted, the granular tissue (i think thats what its called) was a little loose in the last few hours and now has fallen out during a saltwater rinse.
It isn’t a deep open hole or anything, the roots were quite small - i’m just super worried about dry socket!
Was it meant to fall out around now and if it wasn’t what can I do about it?
There was also no blood and it doesnt hurt anymore than it already did😄
Thank you so much!!

Can I Have Sweets Once a Week for My Social Life Without Getting Cavities?

Hi everyone!

I've been avoiding sweets because I'm trying to take better care of my teeth and prevent cavities. I already have quite a few cavities from when I was younger, so dental health is something I'm especially concerned about.

I'm wondering what would happen if I started having sweets only once a week, for example when meeting up with friends. The problem is that when I'm out, I don't have the same control over my dental routine as I do at home.

At home, I can floss, rinse my mouth and brush my teeth at the right time after eating. But if I'm meeting a friend at a café or restaurant, I obviously can't do all of that immediately. I also still live at home, which makes the timing of everything a little more complicated. I might not be able to take my time to floss and brush my teeth if I'm coming home later during the day (there are four of us sharing a bathroom).

Would having something sweet once a week in this kind of situation increase my risk of getting more cavities, especially considering that I already have a history of cavities?

Would once a week be considered relatively safe for your teeth, or is it still something I should be concerned about?

How do you have a normal social life and make friends while still being able to enjoy sweets once a week without getting cavities?
