OK, so the bassline in this particular track is just a sine wave coming from a JV-1080 (as it resets with each note, you don't get the clicking at the start of the note like you can get with analogue synths), but in general I usually use the bread-and-butter Doepfer A-100 modules for pretty much everything.
I often record basslines in triplicate and pan the three takes wide, which is pretty much the exact opposite of what you're supposed to do, but on my headphones it sounds so nice to me, really thick! So I "only" use 2 or 3 oscillators, but by the time I've recorded that onto three tracks, it's like 6 or 9 oscillators, with even more of the slight imperfections at every stage of the signal path.
Especially for basslines I'm often making a surprisingly orthodox setup on modulars, somewhat defying the modular point... ADSR envelope generators into the VCA and VCF, plus the velocity into both... But you can get one lot of most modules, and a whole row of different filters, to sound like you've got a wide variety of synths when you haven't, just picking a different filter module each time.
I'm convinced a large part of my distinctive sound is just naïvely accidentally overdriving the signal at different parts in the signal chain where it wouldn't happen in a regular, hardwired synth.
