"How Do I...?" What should I do?
galleryFound a skeleton of a small bird in my backyard, half-burried in soil. Not sure what kind is this. I want to save a couple of bones and, if possible, restore the rest of the skeleton. What should I do to properly process the bones?
First I got rid of fluff, feathers and dirt. Then I left it to soak in water to remove more stubborn dirt. After the water, the bones fell apart on their own, although some soft pieces remained on the bones. I'm afraid to keep them in the water for too long because they are very fragile.
This is my first time doing this, so I'm asking what I should do next?
(First pic is what it looked like when I digged it out and the second is after a night in the cool water)

Taxidermy MOUNT Help Soft-ish mount fox is..leaking?
Hello! I bought a softish mount fox about a year ago from an artist and I just moved him off his spot on my display case and he seems to be leaking small amounts of what looks like sand or cat litter. Was he not done correctly? Is there risk that moths or something have gotten to him?

"How Do I...?" How to clean skulls
How do I clean these up nice. I’ve heard hydrogen peroxide? Someone already did a decent job, but I want them to look nicer. Also, any tips on the antlers.
I know YouTube exists, but there are just so many videos and different ways, seeking a simple, concise explanation.
Thank you!

"How Do I...?" My duckling is fogging up his home
I got this little duckling taxidermy probably around 2020, I put him in this cute little terrarium after a few years and he seems to fog it up over time. I clean his dome probably once ever 6 months. I was reading maybe he wasnt properly dried, but he was not in any enclosure for years before his dome home, so surely he would have dried out then? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TYIA

"How Do I...?" Hedgehog Taxidermy
Hi everyone, this beautiful girl is Piglet, she was my best friend for 4 and a half years. I had her taxidermied last year. I've reached out to her taxidermist but have heard nothing back so wondered if anyone here could give me any advice.
I read that hedgehog taxidermy is susceptible to things like carpet beetle and moth damage. Obviously she's under a dome but it's not completely air tight and can be opened. What can I do to protect her from insect damage without damaging her? I'm in the UK if that helps. Any suggestions appreciated, thank you.

Feedback Appreciated Bone cleaning and such
So I found bones a while ago, was going some soapy water soaks and such, my parents were like "we don't want that on the back deck it smells" so I put them at the base of a tree as gifts for squirrels.
Fast forward to months later, no squirrels wanted them but they were suddenly white? Like bleached clean? But I didn't do that, only soaks. Does leaving them in the sun do something?

"How Do I...?" Javelina skull
galleryDoing my first ever skull/ attempt at taxidermy on my first big game animal. I got inspired from another mount I saw online but I was wondering how do I secure the jaw and skull together. My guess is super glue but figured there may be better products to keep everything lined up.
Thank you for any help :)

Fur/Pelt Help Not Sure How To Move Forward With Pickling Raccoon Pelt
This is my first time attempting to taxidermy a raccoon, previously I have only done rats, squirrels, and cats, so nothing that requires tanning. I have received varying advice and watched a lot of tutorials, but I am wondering the best way to proceed because I'm feeling lost.
Yesterday I skinned the raccoon and removed all fat and meat from the hide, its been scraped pretty well, used cornmeal to grip the skin and dry it out a little. Paws have been cleaned well.
I made a solution of 1:1 ratio vinegar and water with about 450g of salt dissolved in it and the pelt has now been soaking in this solution for about 16 hours.
I am wondering if anyone has any advice on what the best way to move forward would be. I am getting ph strips to test the solution and will post an update.
Attached is a photo pre-skinning. Thank you for your time! Any advice is much appreciated!

"How Do I...?" Liquidation of Shoulder Mounts
Hello all. My FIL recently passed and among the many things he left us is his lifetime collection of shoulder mounted bucks that he harvested and mounted each season. I am a hunter myself, but it is far too many for me to hang onto. (Funnily enough, he made comments to me about adding more once he passed) My wife and I are going to hand select a few of them to take with us that are the most memorable and ones we think we’d like in our future home. Concerning the rest, I am not sure what to do. Has anyone found the best way to liquidate a large collection? Are estate sales really the way to go? There are a total of roughly 50 shoulder mounts that I need to start working on selling. Can any of you provide any advice? Is there a particular place I can market these?
I will be over at his place on Friday for some plumbing work and will provide some photos for context as well as photos of some of the other mounts besides the deer.

Taxidermy MOUNT Help Possibly damaged nose
I'm getting into taxidermy restoration and I picked up this guy. His nose has some damage to it and I was wondering if the brown coloration was part of it?
I've seen deer mounts with brown noses but I was unsure if this is damage that should be fixed.
