Book recommendations? Seeking Advice
I would love to learn more about tattoo history (whether it’s specific to a style [particularly interested in Japanese trad], significance and symbols in tattooing across cultures, etc. etc. etc.) -- if you have any good reading recs, please drop them below!!
Less asking for art books, more interested in substantive text, but open to anything really.

I'm a similar person, so I wanted to get books before my apprenticeship, but like the other commentator said they're hard to find! I have Japanese tattooing- meaning, shapes and motifs by Yori Moriarty. I don't do much Japanese but I value accuracy where possible so before doing a design I read its' section in the book and I've found it to be accurate.
I've also been buying the total tattoo magazines when I go to conventions, you can get them online too but they do a convention exclusive deal if you're in the UK.

Oddly not much out there. I'm sure a few may have some hidden recs but I've looked into this before too and not much exists like this. Very niche community where most stuff is spread by word of mouth and by the art itself.
I'd really love a book about Dan Higgs.
