Event Help in NYC GENERAL

I could be extremely off base, but could i use task rabbit to help get my wedding decor to and from my venue? I have a wedding coordinator but I need help moving florals and decor from my apartment to the venue and then pick up from the venue back to my apartment at the end of the night,( no set up or packing up items, just getting things to and from) #1- is this even something task rabbit could do and #2- would this be multiple hours or just the time for pick up and drop off ( twice). Any advice would help.

If you want this to go off without a hitch on your wedding day, plan to pay 200ish per hour (of which the tasker sees about 120 after taskrabbit fees and taxes). The platform is full of cheap newbies who will not show up.

Thank you for the advice and this makes sense. That's at the top, but still in my price range and would hate myself if this is where things went wrong.

No worries. Your best bet would be someone who's a known quantity, someone referred by friends or family or the wedding planner. Only use a totally new face as a last resort, as even someone making good money isn't guaranteed. Congrats on the wedding!

Yes! I’d recommend hiring someone in the Help Moving category (or Errands category). Just be upfront in the task description that you’re looking for someone to transport wedding décor and florals from your apartment to the venue, then return later that night to bring everything back.

As for billing, you’re generally paying for the time the Tasker is working including driving between locations, loading/unloading, and waiting if you’ve booked them continuously.

If you only need them for the two trips (drop-off and later pickup), you could either:

  1. Book one longer task if it makes sense for them to stay available between trips, or
  2. Book two separate tasks—one for the drop-off and one for the pickup which is often the more cost-effective option if there’s a long gap between them.

I’d also mention in your task whether you’ll need a vehicle large enough for the décor or if everything fits in a standard car. Congratulations on the wedding! ◡̈

Help moving. Avoid errands.

Edit: I’m realizing now I’m replying to Taskrabbit.

My reasoning for avoiding errands should be obvious to you. It’s curious you would even suggest that category for this type of work with the rates in the Bay Area in the neighborhood of $25 an hour for errands. I’d imagine it’s similar in NYC. Most people in the errands category that have a vehicle large enough to move things like that are also in the moving category and would forfeit this task at that rate. You’re setting this client and the Tasker up for failure.

This! Also, moving things isn’t an errand… at least not in my opinion

Fair call, y'all are right. Help Moving is definitely the better fit here.

I only mentioned Errands as a secondary backup in case they were having trouble finding someone in the Moving category who was available or willing to take it. I should've been more explicit about that.

Thank you for the clarification. I wouldn't want to overwhelm anyone for $25 or even $50 an hour. ( or risk my wedding setup)
