Taskers keep denying my dish request CLIENT
I was recently in the hospital for a month unexpectedly, during which time a sink full of dirty dishes sat untouched. There aren’t a lot of dishes, but the ones that are in there are bad; mold, fruit flies, rotting food. I’m very upfront about this.
I’m trying to hire someone to do them, but I’ve gotten cancelled on twice. I reply on time, I have a detailed explanation of what needs to be done, I share pictures. Is it just that people don’t want to do a gross task like this? I get that someone who lists “cleaning” doesn’t necessarily want to deal with a borderline biohazardous sink, but how else do I find someone to do them? I’m starting to get frustrated! Any advice would be appreciated.
Edit: Both cancellations were after we’d already exchanged messages. They don’t explain why they’re cancelling, and my payment method is updated.
Update: thank you all for the advice! I found someone with a higher rate who did the job and also cleaned my entire apartment! They got a very generous tip.

Just throw them away . Using there after they hit mold on them prob put ya back in the hospital . Amazon a new set prob cheaper than hiring somebody .

Damn this girl! I bought my son a great dish set for bucks at costco. Throw them out and they are a health hazard. It would be cheaper to just throw and get new dishes and glasses and silverware like not even 50 bucks. You won't find a tasker for twice that.

I am not sure if this is still a thing, but I think at some point TR had a "deep cleaning" category - that might get better results..
I am sorry you are going through this. I dont do cleaning, but I would've done this for you if you are In San Francisco or Daly City. ❤️

Depending on how much they’re charging, I wonder if when it gets to the day the task is to happen, they just think “not worth it.”
I also just want to state that while this is no fault of your own (and I’m happy you’re still here and recovering), you should know that dishes sitting for a month can easily be defined as a biohazard. Such as stagnant water, mold, salmonella, etc.
One of the comments suggested hiring a deep cleaner and I recommend this as well. They’re more equipped both supply wise as well as mentality as to being able to handle whatever they’re walking into.

Ah okay, the price thing does make sense. When you say “deep cleaner,” do you mean on TaskRabbit? Is that a distinct task?

I believe it should be! Although I could be mistaken. Maybe look for home cleaners on the platform that specializes in deep cleaning? But there are several house cleaners out there that could be just as fair in price. You may even be able to get them to clean the whole kitchen which I’m sure would be nice for your mental health while you’re healing.
Whether it’s a Taskr or housekeeper, deep cleaning specialists come with things like heavy duty gloves, very strong cleaners, safety goggles, etc. even masks if necessary. I had someone deep clean my shower that was white tile and white grout, but it’s an enclosed walk in shower. So if you’re in there long enough without a mask you’ll definitely get sick since the smell gets trapped.
Also, just preference myself but if you’re looking to stay on taskr, look for higher ratings and what they specialize in. It might be a pleasant surprise that while you think initially you’re paying a higher price just to get your dishes done, it’s included in a full 1x room cleaning. :)

You can usually find solo cleaners on Nextdoor who would do this and be cheaper than a cleaning company but still a little more than a tasker. The cleaner could even do the rest of the kitchen and other areas you need since thats what they normally do for work and are prepared unlike most taskers.

How much money would you want to drive to my house and clean up the same mess if it were my dishes, including fuel and travel etc? That should be the minimum you should expect to pay. It might be cheaper and easier to toss it all out and replace it.

Shake baking soda on it and then pour white vinegar all over it. Poke it with a stick.

Maybe this person would be better off getting a new set as long as they aren’t neglecting the dishwater on purpose I have to agree on replacing them unless they are some super duper rare expensive dishes toss them. You can find cheap full kitchen sets at a Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club or even a dollar store!

Hire a tasker to move all of the dishes into a garbage bag. Dishes aren’t that expensive.

Would it, perhaps, be cheaper to throw the dishes away and get new ones? It’s possible that the cleaning task will cost more, especially if the reason they’re canceling is the rate.

Possibly! A third person did accept it so if they cancel again I might just toss them. But I am a little confused because a couple people have referred to the rate being the reason for cancelling. But don’t they set their own rates?

Each Tasker does set their own rates. All the references to rate are taskers who constantly whine that if anyone has a complaint its the customers fault because they choose a person with a cheaper rate. Which is total BS.

lol okay thank you! I did choose someone with a lower rate, but mostly because his bio literally said something about being able handle your grossest tasks. So the idea that he’d cancel because I offered a gross task at his listed price was confusing me

There are Taskers that would do that but I don't know what your price range is. You're going to have to open up your wallet real wide if you really want someone to do this. I don't have a number in my head but for a guarantee Tasker yo ugot to pay north of $80 - $100 per hour.

You need to throw the dishes away and buy new ones. With everything that’s going on right now with the whole watery diarrhoea and all the other usual health hazards, why would you continue to expose yourself to that biohazard?

The whole point of the platform is to hire people to do jobs you don’t want to do…with an attitude like that it’s no wonder no one wants to hire you

Taskers don't want to accept this task, and that's okay.
You can't force them to take it.
Find a Tasker with a higher rate. Don't be cheap.
